We talked, he shared the history of the company (30 yrs in business, I remember correctly) and reviewed what we were hoping to replace- he showed me what Shading Solutions could do- measured, twice, and we were on our way. The date he told me to anticipate our awnings should be delivered and one week before, contacted me to say we are on schedule! The awnings were delivered and we set a date for installation. The day before, Kurt Lamothe, the installer, came to look at the awnings and to check out the job site, impressive! Not waiting for 'day of ' - being proactive shows professionalism ~ so appreciated in this day! The installers show up, again, professional and friendly and EARLY! Again, I was impressed because as they're installing, Joe, my sales guy, shows up just to make sure all is going well and that I was satisfied. He even texted me after to say there is a windy storm rolling in so make sure to roll up the awnings as they were just installed. The guys picked up all the wrappings and left not one piece behind. Oh- and the price was fair, no hard sell or upsell. Will post pics later ~ but we are VERY satisfied to find a company and people who are professional and are great at their jobs! We called Deck Company and they said the color had been discontinued and they use a different installation process recommended by Trex than what was used for our deck installation. Shawn came out and explained what could be done. He went to the supplier of the deck boards and was able get deck boards that matched our deck. Our deck now looks like it was new. Deck Company went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. We would highly recommend Deck Company.

A week later, after not hearing from him, I followed up and he texted back "sorry for wasting your time. We simply don't have time in our schedule until fall..." I told him that would work and he said he would get quote out next day. I agreed to the proposal. A couple weeks later they wanted to come out and review with us again. They set up a time and Nate showed up and supposedly rang my bell on the side, not the front door, and left. I asked if he was coming, they said "Nate rang bell and went around back for 5-8 minutes before leaving". This was a blantent lie. I have cameras recording on my driveway. I reviewed and he rang a non-working side doorbell, waiting for 1 minutes, sat in his car for 2 minutes texting and left. He never went to the back which is where I was working in the basement waiting for him. If he had used the front door, my ring would have alerted me he was there. They said he would come back at 4:15. I asked Jackie if he was coming back. She said yes at 4:15. I asked her to call me. This was 2 months ago and I still haven't heard from them. Glad I didn't use them.

We hired EDG, which is connected to Midwest Arbor (father and son businesses), to install a…read morelouvered pergola in 2020. A few months later, half of it stopped working. They came once to repair it, never finished, and we've had a partially functioning pergola ever since. As we prepared to sell our home in 2025, we hired them to fix it for the new owners. After two service visits, the pergola went from half working to not working at all. They couldn't locate the wiring they had installed themselves and still billed us for both days. Never have we had a service come to our house, be completely unable to help, bill us, and leave it worse than before. When we asked (multiple times) to speak to Jacob, the owner, he refused to email us back, refused to call us back, refused to come out to fix what his guys left unusable, and said our emails were "less than friendly," even though they were perfectly polite and representative of a frustrated customer. I would be happy to share the emails with any potential customer. Overall, we found the company unreliable, unresponsive, and completely unprofessional. We would not recommend EDG (or Midwest Arbor) to anyone looking for lasting work or dependable customer service.

To say I shopped out the quoting process would be an understatement. Jeff's quote was very fair, easy to understand, and on the lower $ range due to not having the overhead of most other companies. In the end, I decided to go with Archwood for my project and I'm so glad I did. Unlike most other contractors who over quote and rush through the job to maximize profits, Jeff will take whatever time is needed to do the job right...period. Here is the thing that is pretty rare: he listens AND is patient. Any concerns I had along through the project as I'm anal when it comes to details and perfection and any changes I wanted to make during the project, he not only listened, but he made sure my concerns were completely addressed each and every instance. I can't speak highly enough of the character of this young man. In my case, he underbid my job with the time it took for him to complete this big project and because he went over and above on getting the job done right to my satisfaction, I gave him a 60% cash bonus because he flat out deserved it. The deck looks incredible. In sum, Jeff and Archwood was not the fastest option as he does the majority of the work himself, but if you want the job done right by a man who is meticulous with details, with integrity and pride of doing great quality work (as if it was his own home), Jeff is the man for the job.
