Saturdays are for SMOKED prime rib night and it's a must to try their 12oz. Side of corn and mac and cheese, plus that au jus dunking sauce. Requested done medium and she came out perfect! Tender, juicy, seasoned well, crusted to perfection. That mac and cheese was BOMBBBB and highly recommended! First time having "smoked" prime rib and it's one officially checked off the list. EXCELLENT smoked flavor! I'm such a fish and chips whore, so when I saw it on the menu, it was a must. Boasted as premium cod, she comes in BIG fillets! Their two piece meal was plenty for one. Nothing to write home about on the chips; your traditional fry. Not terribly seasoned and not terribly... not seasoned. The cod was decently bite worthy, a little on the dry side, but flaked up well. Would I order it again? Probably not. Tartar sauce was just.. tarter cause. Timing was a tad off, as we finally got a refill and an additional water, when it was time to get the check. If you're going for a burger, plan on an extra 25mins ontop of your wait (unless uou made a reservation). Also snagged their Corn Colada off their drink list. Very sweet, no sweet corn taste, and surprisingly not burned!

Don't worry -- the roads getting there are in great shape and it is a pleasant drive. We visited there with some good friends last Thursday evening to avoid the wait times that I had read about on Fridays and Saturdays. Even though that meant we missed their popular ribs and prime rib nights, we were able to experience everything else which makes this place special. To begin with, the building at the corner of the only 4-way stop sign for miles around is rustic, yet clean and well-maintained. The interior harkens back to simpler days of the past with antiques, pictures and other great decor. Our waitress was a young gal who was very nice -- even though she didn't know what the daily special would look like. We figured that many of her customers are regulars who don't need to ask exactly how a dish will be served. Not a problem! Three of our group elected to try the Hot Beef daily special which was tender slices of beef in a sandwich topped with brown gravy with sides of mashed potatoes and creamed green beans. Good home-style cooking that looked and tasted delicious. My wife chose the French Dip sandwich which came with onion rings and au jus. The hoagie bun was filled with meat and she pronounced it to be delicious as well. Our only mistake was ordering an appetizer of Onion Rings. Not the onion rings themselves--they were more than fine. But it was a missed opportunity to sample something else as a starter. Wonderful meal! Highly recommend this place.

They do have a food menu but for convenience we ordered a burger that they were grilling and selling outdoors. There are many picnic tables and a couple of stages on their large landing outside the main building. Everything seems super clean which is nice, and the folks that work there are very accommodating. I can only comment to the women's restroom, but they are fantastic! Each stall is completely private and well maintained! Always nice! I boated there over Memorial Day weekend, and while they did have bands it was nice that there was no cover. Who does that?!? Just another refreshing part of this newer establishment. They did add gas on their docks for boats which they didn't have last year. Fantastic except on this particular day anyway they did not have dedicated docks for boats that needed gas, but rather they would drag the gas hose over other boats to get to the boat that needed gas. Meanwhile the boat needing gas had to hold on to other docked boats to keep it steady while filling up. Hopefully this will not be a practice they continue as it seemed a bit dangerous and annoying for the owners of the docked boats. Their RV campground seemed full and nice, although it will be even nicer once the newer trees grow enough to actually provide some shade. Welcome back Cottonwood Marina!! So happy it was rebuilt after the flood!

And after a short drive, we arrived at this cool little restaurant in small town Downtown Neola. As it turns out, this place is part of a local chain with other locations in 6 other local spots. CONS - None PROS 1. Easy access from I-80, especially if you know how to find this place. 2. Warm and inviting interior, with nice booth/table seating, at counter ordering, and friendly local clientele. 3. Buck Snort is a largely a burger and fries joynt with a number of interesting menu twists and unique names like the Boom Boom Pow! Burger. 4. Dad's choice was the "Brunch Burger", including egg, bacon and tots. He really enjoyed it. 5. I went more conventional with a cheese burger and tots. Outstanding. It's always a good thing to hit the road again on a relatively full stomach.

After I ordered I saw 10 other people with order numbers in their hand so that was an indication of the wait we were about to endure. We had to stand for a bit before a table was available. It took 45 minutes before the food arrived. Now the food. It was good enough to say I'll try it again. If it wasn't for the generous portion of fries I would have left hungry. I'd be happy to pay $18 for two sliders and half the amount of fries. Fries were good but most likely a premade frozen fry nothing unique. The size of the burger was honestly comparable to the McBurger not the Big Mac (smaller and less meat). Couldn't have been more than 1/4 lb. Very thin. Yes I know it's a smash burger but paper thin and didn't pour out of an already tiny bun. I ordered the heat burger. It came with pepper jack cheese jalapeños and aïoli sauce. I dipped it in ketchup b/c it seemed dry. The 9 year old ordered the classic with added bacon. I'd say add the 3rd patty for $3 to make the meat to bun ratio closer to equal.

And it's comes with a side of country gravy just like chicken fried steak, how could I not try a special burger like that.... And I was not disappointed! It was wonderful, so juicy and flavorful, with the breading surrounding a hand made patty, dipped into that thick, got peppery gravy.... So, so, so good. My wife chose the mushroom Swiss Burger and tots. She couldn't finish the whole burger, it was a big Burger with lots of tots, so I got to try it. She had be reaching about it all the time we were eating, as was I about my burger, and I wasn't sure I could eat the small little sliver she had left but she gave it to me to try and, wow.... It was really as good as what I got. So much cheese and mushrooms, and the burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you find yourself out near Fremont Nebraska, close to a one horse town named Nickerson, with a bar and grill named the One Horse Saloon, stop and eat.... Don't pass this place up. Btw....as we were getting ready to leave, the couple next to us ordered ribs, and I almost say back down for another meal. So many great choices.... We have got to come back here.
