I had a drink spilled on me and my friends by a girl and yet instead of kicking the girl out that spilled her drink all over us, they decided to kick me out. While being kicked out, they didn't let me get my ID or Credit Card from the bar which they take when you open a tab. My friends and I had an amazing night at Decades. The music and lighting were phenomenal. Definitely one of the best spots in DC. Four floors of different music including a rooftop. The holiday weekend brings out my festive side so I decided to check on Eventbrite to see what wsas poppin in DC for the weekend.To my surprise there was a Carnival Day Party listed for Decades so naturally we RSVP'd ASAP. the Eventbrite invite is listed below: I live in Baltimore so naturally I had to leave a bit early to pick my cousin up and get into the city before 6:00pm per our complimentary tickets. To our surprise there was absolutely NO PARKING GARAGE or street parking anywhere near the spot, so we ended up driving around for about 15 minutes looking for a park. Once we found parking, we then had to take a Lyft to the club (which was fine because my cousin has never taken one before). On the way, we had to order new tickets because it was after 6:00pm and the complimentary tickets wouldn't be accepted at 7:15pm lol. We arrived at the club and they honored our Eventbrite ticket right away. We walked in to a rack of stairs (thank goodness, I go to the gym, because I would have been out of breath). The stairs seemed to go on forever and the stairwell was super dark (anyone could just walk upon you). According to the flyer, the party was on the rooftop, we headed there and to my surprise, the rooftop was packed full of people with hardly any room to move. My cousin and I opted to go down one level where the DJ was getting revved up for the evening party to order a well overpriced drink. The young lady behind the bar wore a cute little (and by little, I mean tiny) white bathing suit that left hardly anything to the imagination but hey sex sells. The ambiance of the club (inside) was decent and the people both working the party and the attendees were very nice and everyone seemed to be having a great time. By 8:30pm the party on the inside level was in full-swing. The music was great, the crowd was live however there was this creepy dude walking around (who clearly had a facelift and was stuck in the 80's with his pickup lines) trying to follow me to the restroom. (the gentleman is not affiliated with the club.) Seeing as though I'm in my 30's, I'm not for the cutting people off at a certain age to party however just as most spots in DC have a dress code, I think they should have code of conduct and creepy guy cutoff. Meaning limit them to none lol. Ultimately e had a great time partying at Decades and I can see myself going back again for another Day Party. Pros The way they have decorated this club is definitely unique. They've literally taken Hip Hop culture and preserved it in a fashion forward way. The staff members seemed to be friendly and courteous. Decent ambiance Diverse crowd Everyone seemed to have a genuine respect for one another. Fun time, nice deco, good music, definitely recommend for a night out in DC. Coordinated with Kamal for a table on inauguration weekend. It was my first time there. Needless to say it was packed to the core. Had no issue setting up the transaction with Kamal, he was extremely responsive to all my inquiries. As for the venue itself, three floors, each with their own distinct music and vibe. DJ would often utilize music videos on the big screen which was a plus. Drinks are fairly priced for DC. My friends loved the 90s room but I personally liked the 2000s because I knew more songs (lol guessing this is bc I was the youngest in my group). Drinks were okay but pretty pricey. Bait and switch scammers! DO NOT HOST A PARTY HERE! My bachelorette party was hosted here a couple weeks ago...do NOT host a party at this club. Our group of 8 was told in writing we could get a table by purchasing ONE bottle service bottle. Half of our group arrived to the club slightly early but was made to stand outside in freezing cold temperatures at the "VIP" entrance until the remainder of the group arrived. Upon arriving my friend hosting the party was told outside that we had to buy two bottles which was contrary to what had previously been agreed upon. She argued with the staff at the door but wanted to get everyone inside and not cause a scene at the door. Once at our table no managers were anywhere to be found and the waitresses refused to serve us at our table without purchasing two bottles. My friend who hosted the party felt like she had no recourse but to get the bottles there and take it up with management the following Monday. She emailed the club outlining her concerns about the price discrepancy but nobody has responded as of today and it's been over a week. All of the bait and switch tactics aside the service and tables at the club were sub-standard compared to other clubs where we've had bottle service. read more

My girlfriends and I met up in DC this past weekend for a girls weekend and decided to go to Decades on Saturday night mainly because of the free admission UP UNTIL MIDNIGHT for women. The four of us arrived around 10:30pm and were admitted for free as expected. The problem arose when my friend (a female) and I needed to run back to our hotel and come back. We left Decades at 11:00pm and arrived back at 11:15pm to get in line. By the time we were up to the front it was only 11:30pm and we were forced to pay $20 each to get back in. I was extremely upset by this for two reasons: 1. Disrespectful treatment. The woman at the door taking the money was extremely rude to my friend and I and treated us with utter disregard. I did not appreciate the fact that when I explained that on their website it advertised free admission for women until midnight her response was to roll her eyes and say "The manager said charge." At that point, I did not want to make this a larger issue so my friend and I each paid $20 to get BACK in. 2. False advertising. As previously stated, a large contributing reason that we chose to attend Decades was for the free admittance prior to midnight. As soon to be college graduates, we tightly budgeted this trip and would have not chosen to go to Decades if there would be a $20 cover. False advertising compromised the company brand and from a consumer perspective, it is extremely disheartening to be mislead out of a lack of integrity from employees and managers. Now all of this being said, I will say that we thoroughly enjoyed out time in Decades once we got over the annoyance of the $20 fee. read more

Lots of space and I thought the different floors were really cool. Good drinks, and very friendly bouncers. I just thought the $20 cover for guys was a bit much though. We were dressed to impress and I've been to bars and clubs that have a similar/more upscale vibe that charged no cover. I know you guys are just trying to make sure everyone that comes in is chill and looking to have a good time, but it wouldn't hurt to lower the cover price range. The next thing is the music. Don't get me wrong, the music was great. I really liked how each floor was a representation of a different decade and had music that corresponded. But there comes a point when it gets too loud. Probably the worst bar/club in the DMV area. Please don't waste your money and time by coming here. Even though the manager says that security personnel are "well trained" and "professional", that is a complete lie. When my group tried to get in on a Saturday night, the bouncer stopped my one friend for being "too intoxicated" even though he was our DD for the night and had already paid for the cover charge. When we tried to reason with him (which was clearly a mistake), he threatened to have us all banned from the club and refused to give back my friend his cover fee. I was really shocked by the lack of customer service and racism my friends and I experienced at this venue. We were looking to join some friends for a celebration and when we arrived at Decades, it was everything but a pleasant experience. When First letting the "door girl" Mariah know that we were joining friends inside- she became rude, dismissive and treated us as if we were lying. I witnessed her interact with other non black customers and the interaction was completely different- she was polite, provided them with payment options or literally immediately let them in. When we verbalized how we felt about her behavior she immediately acted as if someone was trying to harm her and that's when the security guard Ben- played into her actions and said he would call the police. The police happened to be nearby on the sidewalk and didn't even look bothered. We spoke to the door girl- Mariah with uplifting words hoping she would fix her attitude towards black customers. She didn't unfortunately and played as if she was a victim to make us seem as if we were a problem. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone of my fellow colleagues or anyone reading this review. There are other bars/venues that are far more inclusive and appreciate Black patrons. read more

Giving 3 stars only because I've been here prior to this incident and I enjoyed it. If you go JUST DONT GET A TABLE. I went here for my birthday celebration and made a 200 deposit on a table I was told is 650 in total for 6 people. Im fine with that. I was told by the person I was booking with that I would be charged the remaining 450 at arrival. Fine with me as well. We get there, me and my guests check in and are escorted to our table. The bottle girl approaches me and tells me we get 2 bottles of liquor AND champagne which is included with the amount we paid for the table. I thought that seemed too good of a deal to be true so I let her know how much I paid for the table and asked her once again if everything is included with the table, she said yes AND THEN said we had to spend 1000. But my table was 650 so that made no sense to me. I wanted to order another bottle and was told my card declined, we had to either pay an 1000 extra on top of what we paid for the table or give up the table. So we finished what we paid for, paid the tab and left. This was very embarrassing for me as I don't often get tables and when I booked it no one informed me that I had to spend 1000 on TOP of paying for the rest of the table. Please do not frequent this horrible establishment. I walked here from Farragut metro on a very hot day, and climbed up all of the stairs to the roof deck bar. I was extremely dehydrated when I arrived. While I was debating a drink to purchase, I asked the bartender for a cup of water. He refused and told me my only option was a $4 bottle of water. I asked for tap water and he said there was none. I proceeded to purchase a drink from a woman wearing a thong (seriously). I asked for tap water. She refused. Moments later, several guests were provided tap water. The man had lied to me and told me they did not have any. This establishment is out to lie to you and take your money for arbitrary reasons. I will report them to DC. Take your business elsewhere. I tried to reach out to resolve this matter directly, was promised a response, and never received one. Pretty fun club in DC, most the time it's our go to place. It's free before 12 on fridays but on saturdays they charge $20 cover. Drink prices are the same as every club in dc, about $10 or so unless you get a cheap beer for a couple bucks less. They have 4 floors and I'd say the most popular one would be the third which I think is the hip hop one. read more

So, I heard good things about this place, but was a little disappointed when I went. We went on a Thursday, which I think made a big difference in our experience from the people that recommended this club. It's 4 floors and the stairs to get to each level or long and steep. It could get tiring. The third and fourth floor were the only ones open when we went. The fourth floor, which places dance/techno music, is a roof top and half of it is blocked off for VIP, which was empty when we went. So the space available to the public was extremely packed. They also had hookahs available, which was pretty nice. This club must have allowed people under 21 years old, as there were many people without wristbands. The younger crowd were trying to break dance and took a lot of space. They would kick their legs up and knocked over people's drinks without a care in the world. We wanted to avoid that so we went to the third floor, which is the hip hop floor, and hung out there for the rest of the night. I love hip hop music so we had a good time in this level as it was much less crowded as well. The first two floors were closed when we went, so we couldn't experience it. read more
