In hindsight, we wish we had gotten a savory item to round things out because, overall, nothing was bad but nothing was capital-G Great. The staff are super friendly and helpful, but there was no one bussing or cleaning tables, so everything was pretty unkempt. We think it's 3.5 stars, but we're rounding up because we really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place and can see ourselves coming back on future visits.

I seriously considered zero stars; however, ultimately they did produce our pre-ordered/pre-paid ice cream cake, as ordered, at the time we had requested. This was our first (and last) visit to this Coldstone location. My wife called 45 minutes in advance to confirm our ice cream cake was ready. Funny thing, the female Coldstone employee acted very confused and said there was no custom ice cream cake for us; after much prodding and back-and-forth, the female Coldstone employee finally determined that yes, our custom cake was done and ready for pick up. Fast forward 45 minutes. We pull into the parking space directly in front of the Coldstone entrance. My wife enters the deserted (no other customers, now we know why!) store alone. No employees were visible, no employee greeted her. After some time, a male employee entered the customer area (no greeting given to my wife) and my wife let him know she was here to pick up a custom ice cream cake. He told her that the ice cream cakes were in "that freezer over there" so my wife looked for a while and then addressed the male employee again, saying, "no, the cake we ordered isn't there". About this time a female employee appeared in the customer area and made a comment like, "Oh you called earlier?" and my wife confirmed that, yes, in fact that was the case. The female Coldstone employee pointed to the freezer my wife had just looked in and said, "the ice cream cakes are in there just pick one." My wife reiterated that we had pre-ordered a custom cake. Both employees insisted that she take a generic cake from the freezer; my wife kept saying "no, we ordered a custom cake that was supposed to have our daughter's name on it". Reluctantly and with a surly attitude, the female employee retreated to the back and eventually came out with our custom cake. As my wife was leaving, she commented, "You have terrible customer service" at which point the male Coldstone employee told her to "get out of my store" and immediately started filming her. Never has my wife encountered such lousy and rude customer service. We've been Coldstone customers for just under 30 years. Additionally, we called the corporate headquarters nearly a week ago to share our awful experience and haven't heard back from them.

The price is always surprisingly expensive and generally when the total comes inevitably wrong. Often something we didn't order is added and you have to hassle getting removed from your ticket. The ambiance is lively and fun. However most the staff are standing around at the front in the bar gossiping. It's really annoying to hear them gossiping about guests! Bad Bad Bad manners! They talk too much and don't serve food in a timely manner. To wait an hour and a half is ridiculous. In general, the food preparation is ok. Fresh, but ok. My suggestion would be to dress up the presentation more than just putting it on the plate - it's an art that makes good Sushi special, and this doesn't do it for me! While it's decent, for Montana, it's not west coast Sushi and service staff needs an overhaul. Less gossip, better staff service with attention to the customers order, more timely service, more accurate orders.
