The food was great. The wait was somewhat longer than expected. The proportions were pretty much. Recommend the tenderloin

Small town feel, good grits and eggs and nice portion of bacon. Didn't try those huge biscuits.

This is the best place in Rockingham County for a home-cooked meal. The staff is superb. My only choice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Best biscuits around! They are huge and flavorful. If you are in town swing by and grab a tenderloin dips In gravy.

Not many dining choices in this area. Ample parking and a large dining area with tables efficiently serviced so that they turn over quickly. Our wait for a table was only 10-minutes, following a group of 18! The service was the star of the experience. Very efficient, helpful, attentive servers. Shout out to Suzanna. The large staff worked well together and seemed to make everyone feel comfortable. The ambience is southern, hometown casual. You feel like you are visiting your large family from start to finish. Nothing pretentious. Clean enough. Comfortable. Pricing....in this time of food inflation, this restaurant still offers amazing prices. My husband and I had two large dinner entrees with water and our bill came to just under $24.00. Our portions were generous as evidence in the photo. Our waitress recommended the grilled pork chops which were hot, juicy and seasoned just right. They came with two veggie sides from a long list of choices. I chose collard greens and Mac and cheese. These items were just average and only luke warm as was the biscuit (from a choice of about 5 bread options). Had the sides been hot and a little more flavorful, I would have given 5 stars. For vegetarians and all-day breakfast eaters, Cooper Pot is your place; so much to choose from on their menu. Vegans might struggle as most southern cooking includes dairy and it looks as if they cook their sides in large quantities and keep them in a warmer to serve. The ability to respond quickly to large numbers of travelers and locals, with solid, well-priced, filling meals is the gift of the Copper Pot. We will return when traveling their way.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.

Everything was delicious, although my partner wasn't a huge fan of the short ribs. The trout and salad were both excellent. The cheese dip was delicious. The sides were a standout, especially the Parmesan spaghetti squash, which I highly recommend. We had to put some extra salt on the sides, but that's purely personal preference. They also had several reasonably priced drink specials, which was a nice surprise. The service was amazing--friendly, attentive, and a big part of what made the meal so enjoyable. Overall, a really solid dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

The food: There are daily specials: usually fried chicken and another meat. It also includes two veggies, a biscuit or cornbread, and a beverage. The fried chicken is awesome! It is tasty, well-seasoned with crispy skin and moist, tender meat. Remarkably, none of the fried foods were greasy and it was clearly fried in fresh oil. For the other meat, my wife got the fried catfish; it was just as great as the fried chicken. I ordered the grilled catfish, which I found very tasty, well-seasoned and tender. Hot and cold sides are available; I really enjoyed the sautéed spinach and pinto beans (which is available with minced onions and "chow-chow" on the side). The cornbread was deliciously moist and sweet. The portions are amply sized. I didn't leave room for dessert, but we took a couple home, the banana pudding and apple cobbler. I'd order them again. There is clearly a not-so-secret ingredient in each meal; it's named TLC. I really think each meal we had was prepared as if we were more than just customers, but family members. The service: Although we had never set foot in it, our party of four was warmly welcomed and treated like family by the owner and his daughter. "Boots" (ask him how he got the nickname...) greeted and seated us. His daughter (and owner), Cindy, provided the menus and stayed to answer questions. The food arrived in a timely manner. Hot foods were served hot, cold foods were served cold. Beverages were refilled as needed. The restaurant: It's not the fanciest, but the "front of the house" is clean and orderly. Behind the counter are some interesting things such as an antique toaster. The restaurant has both 4-person booths and a few tables. The music, mostly from the 1960's oldies playlist, was great to listen to and volume was not obtrusive at all. The bathrooms are very clean. The parking lot is gravel but there's plenty of room. Overall: Great family restaurant, great food, great service. Worth the drive, especially if you have the craving for exceptional country fried chicken! If you're staying at one of the local bed and breakfast inns or are in town for a concert at the Harvester, check this place out. It's a 5 minute drive from Rocky Mount. Looking forward to returning for another meal.
