    Lobster hush puppies
    Will S.

First time doing a full sit down dinner/lunch here. It was great! As far as food goes - Nothing spectacular, nothing bad. Lobster hush puppies were good, little too fried for me, and the oysters tasted fresh. The Caesar salad was a little fishy, it came with huge anchovies on top, which no one ever wants... HOWEVER, the vibes here are always spot on. Orange crush, pina coladas or a bucket of cold beer, all pair perfectly with the beach bar, and a sunset. Seriously a great happy hour spot for a drink, warm weather and good vibes

I got there and had to wait a hour while many seats were open. The place looked nice but was extremely dark. I couldn't see anything. The seating was nice. The food was alright but I've had better. Fry's were mid. I also had muscles and they were so good.

I'm sorry good people of Maine, but this was absolutely the BEST lobster roll I've ever had! I stopped by after a day at the beach starving and was immediately greeted by a super sweet hostess and given a table with a great view of the water. My server was top notch. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Lots of families and groups having a lovely lunch. Lively crowd with lots of convo and music playing, but not loud/obnoxious. Great drinks on the menu but I just opted for a local IPA. Absolutely perfect post-beach meal. (Yes the price was a little much but I promise it was worth each and every dollar) Huge pieces of lobster, perfectly toasted thick bread. Even the dang chips weee perfectly crisp and tasty. I went with the "Strathmere roll" but I can't wait to go back and try the New England with the warm lobster. So happy I FINALLY found a place at the shore to get my lobster roll fix lol

We had reservations for a party of 6 in the dining room. We were seated promptly. Our waitress arrived quickly and was very pleasant. We started with calamari as well as kielbasa. Both appetizers were very good. The dinners were great as well. Overall, nice place. The prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area (not cheap but it is a beach town). We will be going back for sure.

    Strawberry daiquiri

First visit here and was here for dinner. This is a big place and there was a long wait to eat outside, so we wound up eating inside. Ordered a strawberry daiquiri to start with and was one of the better ones I've had in awhile, I enjoyed it so much, I wound up ordering another one later in my meal. I went went the crab cake sandwich which was very good. Service was very attentive throughout our meal. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

The lobster roll gets better every year. Food, service and staff are all 10/10. Kenny is a fabulous bartender all the drinks were perfect

    Lobster roll, minimal lobster

Easily one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The Bartender was our server and forgot about us. Calamari was undercooked. Lobster roll was 31 dollars, did not have nearly enough. Finished eating the lobster in 3 bites, bread was rock solid. Burger was ordered medium- came out totally rare. Not once did the bartender or manager come to check in on us. Place used to be great, will never be back. Incredibly overpriced, horrible quality.

Well... great atmosphere but the food was all just okay. For a $300+ tab, I was just embarrassed to have chosen this place. Go for the drinks, the view and the vibe.

Tuna cru, it would be decent had it not been for the white sauce all over the plate.

The atmosphere and service is good, and honestly what is giving this rating an additional star....the food, is a different story entirely. The location of the restaurant is probably convenient for those staying on the north side of Sea Isle and many staying in Ocean City (being as it's a dry town). There is plenty of parking and ample seating outside and inside along the back bay. The interior seemed stuffy but that was only from walking through to use the restroom...uncomfortably silent. The staff from when you are seated to exiting are fairly pleasant. They make an effort to be friendly but, just as many places today, they are stretched thin. Simple table maintenance doesn't exist so you're piling plates up as you go. Now on to the food, because let's be honest, we're here because we're visiting the shore. While the location of the restaurant is nice, it's not necessary since most people are probably returning to their houses much closer to the beach. Fist off, most of the restaurants along the shore are mediocre, so you certainly should temper expectations wherever you choose. Be forewarned, prices here are high, from apps to drinks to meals they are what I would expect to pay in NYC or Philadelphia for "quality" food. We started with a hot dog for our four year old (and a glass of white milk...more on this) and the Tuna Cru and Steamed Clams. The tuna came out and was slightly different than the menu description of: raw tuna, melon, lime, radishes, sesame seed, espelette pepper. It was sitting on top of a white sauce that I had the suspicion was mayonnaise based and upon tasting confirmed that. The dish would've been much better had it not been for this overpowering sauce. But all in all a raw dish that only required serving, not manipulation of the food. The clams, simple right? You would think. They are typically our go to on the shore because there isn't much that can screw them up. Steam them and serve with butter. But in this case, something seemed off, not the clams, they were fine. But the butter, it was flavorless and very running....almost watery. Not good. Our sons hot dog came with cold fries but that's what it is. The hot dog was large so the $10 price tag didn't seem to far from expectation but they did charge us for the milk. Not a major issue but $3 for a kids milk...come on, bump the price of the meal and just include it. Our entrees. The menu has the expected fare of shore food but after our disappointing appetizers I opted for the lobster roll; if nothing else, at least it's lobster and tastes good no matter what. My wife ordered the broiled scallops and for some reason decided to add the Jersey Corn Succotash to her dish. The lobster roll came out with chips and looked decent. The chips would've been the standout of the meal had they all been cooked, but sadly there were many mixed in that were not fully fried and soggy. The lobster roll had a lot of mayo, which I could taste tarragon in, not horrible but not the best. The roll it was on is good, but it should be as some of the best rolls in the country are from this state. The menu actually claimed it was a brioche roll but I was happy in this case the food didn't match the description. There were supposed to be "summer truffles" somewhere on this but I didn't expect those to begin with. Even with the steep price tag of nearly $30 for the lobster roll, based upon the pricing they use here that wouldn't come close to allowing real truffles at all. All in all, the roll was good and the lobster meat was decent. My wife's on the other hand was just not good. The scallops were broiled to death and to add insult to injury they were so different in size that some were cooked to rubber long before the rest. The $9 add-on Succotash was a mess and flavorless. And their "crisp potatoes" were c-size (or the size of new potatoes), cooked until the skin was supposed to be crispy. These things honestly tasted like they were leftover from a catering event and reheated. They advertise catering events in the restaurant and that is what they are, a catering facility that does mediocre food. The price tag of $200 for the lunch was nowhere near worth it and I have no issue paying for a decent meal. This just wasn't it. I would not recommend even stopping.

Snow crab legs & house made chips
    Trish L.

The service and the view are what keep us coming back. The staff are always quick and friendly. The tables on the bay have a great view and breeze. The happy hour $17.99 snow crab legs were delicious. We also had the house made chips and let me tell you.. the bowl is MASSIVE. We ate so many chips and still couldn't finish it. They come with a dill dip that is perfect for the crunchy kettle chips. Would definitely recommend!

I enjoyed the oysters very much. They were fresh, meaty and delicious. The French onion soup was also enjoyable and not overly salty. Main complaint of the table was the food came out lukewarm. The mussels were very small and had a flavor that was displeasing to many people at the table. The hush puppies were extremely salty and you couldn't tell that they were crab plus the sweet butter was an odd combination. The place was nicely decorated and the setting sun was beautiful but I don't think I'll be back

We went on a Monday for the dueling pianos. The Philly Keys. It was pouring rain and a light crowd but they did great engaging everyone. Loved them! The place started to fill up as it got later. The classic pizza was delicious. I highly recommend. The drink selection was good. The reason for the four stars is simply because of the service. If you read my reviews then you know that I rarely mention anything negative about service. I give credit to anyone who gets out of the house to work given the current labor climate. I'm not overly critical. It wasn't his fault. He needs some training or the ability to shadow another server. He just seemed to be a little overwhelmed. My comment isn't against him but the training program. We saw other servers that clearly know what to do. Someone should be looking out so the customer experience doesn't suffer. We would've ordered more drinks or food if our server checked on us. They delivered our pizza but we had to ask for and then wait for plates. I asked for water twice and never got that. Our glasses sat empty for long periods. When we did order, we watched him walk by our drinks sitting at the bar multiple times. He was a nice guy and was trying. Don't take this as a negative. We are very easy going and had a great time. We'll be back!

A lot of the meals were fine and the live music made for an improved experience.

The staff at Shenanigans are some of the worst I've encountered. This place has a ton of other things I could knock them for but luckily a lot of other reviews have those covered. My advice is that if you are queer or a person of color, don't come here - they'd probably love to keep it that way. Not only did we see an employee record a gay couple at the bar with his phone and proceed to show it to his snickering coworkers, but we also watched another employee turn away and step outside because he was so uncomfortable with them being there. Not that it matters at all, but all the couple was doing was sitting there. Additionally, a member of our party who has a very dark complexion was being stared at, pointed at, and spoken to in an uncomfortable fashion by patrons sitting at the bar but that speaks more to the crowd that frequents it. Judging by the way the employees acted in the above example, I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same. If you're looking to get disrespected, look no further.

You would think that a bouncer at the Jersey shore can differentiate a real vs fake PA license. He also asked me for another form of id in which I offered a scan of my birth certificate, passport and anything else he needed. He refused to accept it as valid and made a police officer verify it as real. Once he got the ok that it was real, honestly the attitude of the bouncer really turned me off. The fact that he pulled me (the only POC) out of line and questioned me really makes me wonder about the racial stance the bouncer has for non white people. Once I voiced that out loud to my friends that I felt uncomfortable with his actions, he said "the way she pulled the race card. Good luck getting in with that shit." Definitely not something appropriate to be saying to an Asian woman as a white male at his work establishment. He also jeered at me and said "her whole thing is falling apart at the seams" when I didn't know the zip code on my license right away. Mind you, I use my sisters address as my permanent because I have been living at college for 4 years and I needed an address that was more stable than student housing. When I tried to explain that he turned away and laughed with the other bouncers, completely disregarding what I was saying. Not once after it was cleared up with the police officer did he apologize to me. This bouncer is a coward along with the other ones that just stood and laughed. For any POC, please be wary of this place. It is not safe for you and there are plenty of other places that will not make you feel like this place made me feel. To the owner, I do not want the same "we apologize for this experience you had and we hope you come back" I also don't believe that you "addressed these situations" with your staff because it seems like nothing has changed in the past decade based on the other reviews. These bouncers are extremely unprofessional and do not care about any potential patrons. I was happy to oblige to giving the officer my ID for extra verification. But the side comments and attitude is not something I would expect from someone in their 40s. Lastly, I would like a written apology from that bouncer that was extremely rude to me. Additionally, I would like to know the exact steps that management is taking to handle this situation It's really the only thing that I want out of this entire ordeal.
