Nice, very large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was very good. Tuna nachos were especially good. So was the she crab soup. It gets very crowded as the evening goes on so going before 6 p.m. is advised. Service was only fair. Prices on the high side, but about what you would expect at a beach restaurant . Parking is tight but they do have valet. Just two complaints: 1. 3% surcharge for using a credit card. Restaurant this big and so constantly busy could absorb that and not pass it on to customers. 2. There is a $25 per person charge if you make a reservation and don't show up. Again given how very busy they are there's no need for them to do that. read more

Save your money, DON'T EAT HERE! It's a high priced, low quality restaurant. It used to be the premier place. This is so disappointing and sad. From the drinks and food to the service, even the ladies room, it was awful! This place has gone all the way down hill! A complete lack of care... My partner ordered a Bloody Mary ($16) it was so hot that I asked for much less heat in mine. The extra hot sauce must have been to cover up the bitter taste of the drinks. There were pepper seeds floating in the drink. Disgusting... When we told our server that the drink was too hot, my partner asked for a glass of tomato juice to dilute the heat. Our waitress, Sammy, brought out a rocks glass with about 2 ounces of tomato juice. Not really enough to soften the heat. Amazingly, it wasn't on the bill. Sammy, wasn't able to answer questions about the food. We asked about the vegetable of the day. She thought is was asparagus but wasn't sure. We asked if we could substitute a salad for the vegetable. She said, "Of course", but did not mention the up charge. ($12) I asked about the potato choice called potato crisps, specifically if they were pan fried or deep fried. She explained they were potatoes that were fried and then flattened with some garlic seasoning. She thought pan fried. When asked if the soft shell crabs were in season, she thought that they were. Not one time while we were asking questions did she go back to check with the kitchen to know the answers. The menu said the soft shell crab was fried. It did not say breaded and fried. My partner ordered the steamed clams for an appetizer (12/24) and his favorite, Crab Cakes (mp) with french fries. I ordered the Jersey Shore ($48) with the potato crisps which I was led to believe were pan fried. The steamed clams were a little over done, but good. It's hard to mess those up. Then our main meal: The salad did not come out ahead of the meal. The greens were bitter and pieces were very large. The cherry tomatoes cut in half and we found the diced red onions at the bottom of the bowl. The greens were so bitter, I couldn't finish it. The crab cakes were shaped like giant meatballs and cold in the middle and came with potato crisps. My partner pointed out he ordered fries. Sammy made no effort to correct her error. My partner had to ask the bartender about getting fries. A different server brought them. My Jersey Shore platter had the potato crisps. The potato crisps were deep fried salt potatoes that were lightly smashed and definitely NOT crisp. The flounder was overcooked, the scallops were dry and the soft shell crab had been breaded and deep fried.It was not fresh, possibly frozen and was not cooked well, gooey inside. I was shocked about the deep fried foods after I had asked about it. I explained that I have an issue with the fry oil. Sammy made no effort to correct any of her order mistakes or misinformation. Sammy pretty much disappeared after that. When Sammy finally did appear, she asked if she could get me anything. I said yes, a baked potato. I foolishly assumed, it would be the substitute for the deep fried crisps but it was charged to the bill. ($6) The butter had no taste. We waited to get the bill long after we were finished. I went to the ladies room while we waited. There was pink soap slopped all over one of the sinks, dripping onto the floor and no paper towels in the dispenser. It was like a dive bar bathroom. We were still waiting for the bill. My partner finally asked the bartender. Sammy came with the bill. $168 dollars!!! The worst meal we have ever had. I wanted to talk to the manager but my partner just wanted to leave. We have been to the Deauville Inn many times over the years as my partner grew up locally and comes back regularly to visit with friends and family. He knows that soft shell crab is not in season until the end of August. We asked about it, our server blew off the question as she blew off the rest of our questions, NEVER checking with the kitchen. Wedding food was atrocious! They served "beef" that was cheap and unrecognizable with miniature chicken thighs that were tasteless and overcooked. Every water on the table when we got there had gnats in it. They had the hors d'oeuvres out before the ceremony was over and the place was full of gnats and the food was not covered. First time doing a full sit down dinner/lunch here. It was great! As far as food goes - Nothing spectacular, nothing bad. Lobster hush puppies were good, little too fried for me, and the oysters tasted fresh. The Caesar salad was a little fishy, it came with huge anchovies on top, which no one ever wants... The inside formal dining area... our experience.... There were 3 tables seated on a Tuesday night after Memorial Day ( last week) . The thermostat was set to 70.. It was freezing. It was confusing when trying to be sat... no hostess, no help. The waitress sat us directly next to another table. The vent was right above us so we did ask for a warmer spot. The formal dining area does NOT serve table bread. The tuna tacos were good, however not spicy as stated in the menu. Not enough chicken options. NO vegetable options if you don't eat seafood or steak. We ordered the Burrata... $18 I think... the presentation was elementary at best... No culinary technique. Yhe tomatoes were not ripe and cut very thick. This time of year, with no bread, cherry tomatoes would be common sense. We asked the waitress for bread to EAT THE SPOONED CHEESE... Doesn't come with, not offered. You can purchase Garlic bread, however that was not disclosed that we needed to spoon cheese into our mouth when we ordered. The second time I ordered Prime rib only to be served rare again I took a bite and felt like throwing up. Sent it back only to get it medium. The waiter told me to cut the center it was done to well for me and the au jus was watered down. My husband and his friend go for lunch just about every week. Our family of 6 goes there quite often at least twice a month and my 3 family members go in between. We have been going for years. I stopped by after a day at the beach starving and was immediately greeted by a super sweet hostess and given a table with a great view of the water. My server was top notch. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Lots of families and groups having a lovely lunch. Lively crowd with lots of convo and music playing, but not loud/obnoxious. Great drinks on the menu but I just opted for a local IPA. Absolutely perfect post-beach meal. (Yes the price was a little much but I promise it was worth each and every dollar) Huge pieces of lobster, perfectly toasted thick bread. Even the dang chips weee perfectly crisp and tasty. Another year goes by as our family has now stayed in Sea Isle City for at least 30 years . My wife and I like to escape the craziness of the beachhouse and go out at least 1 night during the week and get away from the kids . The atmosphere and service is good, and honestly what is giving this rating an additional star....the food, is a different story entirely. The location of the restaurant is probably convenient for those staying on the north side of Sea Isle and many staying in Ocean City (being as it's a dry town). There is plenty of parking and ample seating outside and inside along the back bay. The interior seemed stuffy but that was only from walking through to use the restroom...uncomfortably silent. The staff from when you are seated to exiting are fairly pleasant. They make an effort to be friendly but, just as many places today, they are stretched thin. Simple table maintenance doesn't exist so you're piling plates up as you go. Now on to the food, because let's be honest, we're here because we're visiting the shore. While the location of the restaurant is nice, it's not necessary since most people are probably returning to their houses much closer to the beach. Fist off, most of the restaurants along the shore are mediocre, so you certainly should temper expectations wherever you choose. Be forewarned, prices here are high, from apps to drinks to meals they are what I would expect to pay in NYC or Philadelphia for "quality" food. We started with a hot dog for our four year old (and a glass of white milk...more on this) and the Tuna Cru and Steamed Clams. The tuna came out and was slightly different than the menu description of: raw tuna, melon, lime, radishes, sesame seed, espelette pepper. It was sitting on top of a white sauce that I had the suspicion was mayonnaise based and upon tasting confirmed that. The dish would've been much better had it not been for this overpowering sauce. But all in all a raw dish that only required serving, not manipulation of the food. The clams, simple right? You would think. They are typically our go to on the shore because there isn't much that can screw them up. Steam them and serve with butter. But in this case, something seemed off, not the clams, they were fine. But the butter, it was flavorless and very running....almost watery. Not good. Our sons hot dog came with cold fries but that's what it is. The hot dog was large so the $10 price tag didn't seem to far from expectation but they did charge us for the milk. Not a major issue but $3 for a kids milk...come on, bump the price of the meal and just include it. Our entrees. The menu has the expected fare of shore food but after our disappointing appetizers I opted for the lobster roll; if nothing else, at least it's lobster and tastes good no matter what. My wife ordered the broiled scallops and for some reason decided to add the Jersey Corn Succotash to her dish. The lobster roll came out with chips and looked decent. The chips would've been the standout of the meal had they all been cooked, but sadly there were many mixed in that were not fully fried and soggy. The lobster roll had a lot of mayo, which I could taste tarragon in, not horrible but not the best. The roll it was on is good, but it should be as some of the best rolls in the country are from this state. The menu actually claimed it was a brioche roll but I was happy in this case the food didn't match the description. There were supposed to be "summer truffles" somewhere on this but I didn't expect those to begin with. Even with the steep price tag of nearly $30 for the lobster roll, based upon the pricing they use here that wouldn't come close to allowing real truffles at all. All in all, the roll was good and the lobster meat was decent. My wife's on the other hand was just not good. The scallops were broiled to death and to add insult to injury they were so different in size that some were cooked to rubber long before the rest. The $9 add-on Succotash was a mess and flavorless. And their "crisp potatoes" were c-size (or the size of new potatoes), cooked until the skin was supposed to be crispy. These things honestly tasted like they were leftover from a catering event and reheated. They advertise catering events in the restaurant and that is what they are, a catering facility that does mediocre food. The price tag of $200 for the lunch was nowhere near worth it and I have no issue paying for a decent meal. This just wasn't it. I would not recommend even stopping. read more

Had a friend recommend this restaurant and was very excited bc the menu looked great online. When we arrived we were told that they had just switched the menu and many of the options we were hoping to enjoy were not available. The filet was dry and the crab cake didn't have much taste. The waitress Casey was wonderful. After dinner we went to the outside bar to grab a drink and no one waited on us for over 5 minutes while they stood around and chatted behind the bar. I enjoyed the oysters very much. They were fresh, meaty and delicious. The French onion soup was also enjoyable and not overly salty. Main complaint of the table was the food came out lukewarm. The mussels were very small and had a flavor that was displeasing to many people at the table. We went here for their "Sunday Funday" this past weekend. We waited in line for about 15 minutes to get in since it was so crowded. Once we got in there was the beach section to sit or sand on where the DJ was and the top deck with another bar. We ordered drinks and talked with our friends for hours. We had a lot of fun! When approached for answers the manager who's name may or may not be John was very aggressive telling my disabled father that we needed to have patience after he told him he couldn't sit for hours on end. The deauville spritz was yummy as was the strawberry frosé. They had locals Ludlam Island, cape May and slack tide breweries on tap which I appreciate. Service was decent if a bit slow (but hey a Friday night in July - we were thrilled to find parking right out front!!). It was packed. The view of the sunset cannot be better! It is a very warm, bustling and local fun beach vibe at deauville inn. Two friends who live nearby recommended it. I would come for the view and a drink alone. The servive is warm and kind. I got the wings which were yummy and mashed potatoes which were super buttery and well seasoned. My husband's clams were way too salty almost ineatable so next time we will stick to the drinks appetizers and view!
