I've been here twice now - once for dinner and another time for drinks and appetizers. First we have to talk about the ambiance of this space! It's great, I love it! For anyone who has been in Bend for awhile - it is where Wall Street used to be and I had a lot of fond memories in that space. But I love this entire revamped vibe and it is like we grew up and moved to the big city! The drinks were delish! Probably a little pricier than some places in Bend but also not really. These are typical craft cocktail prices in Bend. The food was amazing! As appetizers I've had the grilled avocados and the grilled cheese with duck eggs. You have to get the grilled cheese with duck eggs! They are perfect. The citrus burrata salad and the short ribs are also things I've had, and would recommend. They kindly brought extra dirty on the side but it didn't help. The sage advice was beautiful and yummy. Everything about this restaurant was incredible. The decor is stunning and one thing to talk about after the next. Our service was impeccable. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten free dishes and celiac vs sensitivity. The food was some of the best I've ever had. The salmon Krudo was melt in your mouth with so many different flavor notes that all melded together into the tastiest bite. We also had the spare ribs with marrow which was cooked to Perfection and the polenta with summer veggies and eggs and it was anything but boring. By far the best polenta I've ever had. Now about 5 times in as a local and while yes sometimes my company has influenced my experiences (hey dating apps) I just felt that after my birthday night I had to leave a review. Super awesome! I found Pappy here and got to try it and cross it off my whiskey bucket list. The food is expensive but you get what you pay for. My wife and I had an absolutely delightful evening at Dear Irene. Reservations were made seamlessly and the host was very welcoming, offering to take our coats to keep them safe for us. The decor is soooo stunning! With beautiful chandeliers and gorgeous artistic wallpaper, you feel like you've stepped into a whole other world. The cocktails are masterful and the food is to die for. We had the Short Ribs and the Oregon Dungeness Crab Arancini. The flavors were out of this world. Our server/bartender, Serena, was so knowledgeable of the drinks and food....and was extremely attentive to our needs. She made me the Notorious F.I.G. and my wife had their Americano Spritz. The owner, Jonny, came by our table to insure everything was fabulous. The bathrooms are completely amazing...each with their own aesthetic. We walked in at around 7:30 on a Saturday night without a reservation. We got lucky and were able to get a seat outside on a beautiful evening. It was also Prom night which was fun to look at the outfits as students walked by. The service was fantastic - prompt but no rushed. We got the Mussels for an app. They were served in a light red sauce. We also got the Scallops and Short-ribs. Both dishes were excellent. We'll be back sometime soon! We went to Dear Irene for our 9 month anniversary on Wednesday (2/21) and the whole experience was lovely, well curated and would 10/10 recommend the food, cocktails, vibe and service. We enjoyed the Japanese Hamachi Crudo*, the Citrus Burrata Salad, the Seared Diver Scallops* and the Columbia River Steelhead. Our cocktails were perfection and quite unique; he enjoyed the Notorious F.I.G. and I enjoyed the Sage Advice. The atmosphere was great, the serving staff were hospitable and well-versed in their offerings and the food/beverages lived up to the hype. I have to say it was difficult. Short menu, chef at first doesn't want to alter any dish, FYI we all have different taste buds. I do not prefer vinaigrettes on my salads as it is oily and has a sense of literal disgust in presentation. I prefer fresh food and texture. At first he was not open to this being on the side. So no go. Next was the entire which I do not do any alcohol in ANYTHING and it had a sherry glaze. I do not even like sherry as a flavor. Again we all have different taste buds as well as finger prints. After I informed our server that I would just not eat, the chef said he would accommodate and fulfill my request. That was great, it was great and the food was fresh and delightful. The citrus Burrata salad could use to have the seeds from the citrus wedges removed but I did that myself. I would it rate a 5 star, we have only one on town and it is truly been here for years. I hope that the chef continues to learn about the Bend culture and expectations versus imposing his taste buds on others. Homeless people walk up to the deck as we were sitter looking for the dive bar it used to be. The service staff did nothing and ignored them. They stood there smoking cigarettes with nobody removing or politely informing them. I dot smoke so it was very gross and others smoke as they walk along on the road outside.
