They typically carry one of everything, but not necessarily a lot of variety. But that's ok! I love that all the people that work there are townies, and the cashiers are generally SSP Packer High School students. I'm grateful for Knowlans for being the place I can run to quickly for that last minute ingredient or item. However, Knowlan's is rarely a place I go to when I need to do my weekly grocery shopping. The lack of variety and hit-or-miss or hard to find produce usually drives me regrettably to Cub or Rainbow.

What is also outdated is the selection. The produce section is very small and the frozen/unhealthy foods sections are very large. The deli selection is also small and overpriced, in my opinion. I live close by, so have stopped in here on numerous occasions to pick up just one thing, and they often do not have it. Today, it was pita chips. Fucking pita chips. But they had plenty of Lay's Southern Biscuits and Gravy-flavored chips (GROSS). I would rather just wait until the weekend and go into downtown St. Paul to shop at the farmer's market. While customer service here is usually friendly, speed and efficiency are not their strong points. There will be one checkout open and three or four employees just milling around, even if the line is several people long. Sell more produce and less packaged, processed crap!

I believe the deli and food area has more options available during lunch hour than dinner hour, which make sense. At time there would be yummy samples. They also host events for us to try out new things. Take off one star was because some employee previously offer my kids with religious figures toys. It was very strange and they just randomly give the toy figures to our kids without asking parents consent. It hasn't happen for the past few visits and hopefully won't happen ever again.

There appeared a gallant youth, clad in the humble vestments of service--his name, as sung by the angels (or perhaps his nametag), was Zachary. With a smile bright as the morning sun and cheer as boundless as a spring meadow, this noble fellow did not mock my quest, strange though it was. Nay, he embraced it with mirth and honor, guiding me with great care through vineyard and produce till the chosen orb was found. Truly, Zachary is a steward of joy, a knight of customer service, and the grape--verily!--was as crunchy as mine heart did hope. Five stars, and may his smile never fade.

The volunteers and especially Steven and Kahn were so incredibly friendly and clearly cares about the environment, each other, the customers and giving back to the community! They have a great selection and support local businesses. They even have free community events with dinners and live music. Such a wonderful place and they even carry some products that I usually can't find and normally make special trips for. I'm happily going to start becoming a regular for so many reasons. I have never seen a place like this that truly helps the community. Highly recommend stopping in and supporting local!

This was my first time in a Kowalski's Market, and I was here for one thing: artisan cheese. I've…read morefollowed them on Instagram for over a year now and I knew they were supposed to have a good selection; I was delighted to confirm that yes, their cheese selection is fantastic, and yes, their cheesemongers are incredibly nice and helpful. Cheese is a serious hobby for me and I keep an extensive log, and I found more new cheeses here than I have found at any store in quite some time. The one frustration was at the self check-out. One of my cheeses wasn't in the system and another didn't have a weight that the computer scale liked, so the young man overseeing the registers had to keep coming over to help. He was very nice, but I felt badly about the continued hassle. I'd happily visit this and other Kowalski's locations for cheese! I should probably look around the rest of the store, too, because I'd probably find more things I liked.
