I recently had Robert and his crew do a brake job for me on my Superduty. I supplied some aftermarket pads that I like to use and he put them on with the complete brake job. After a couple weeks, they started to squeak pretty bad so I took it back in. Even though they were not the pads that he supplied, he replaced the pads, resurfaced the rotors, and did not charge me a penny for labor or material. Been coming here for years and have spent a lot of money with Robert but that's means nothing. Took my truck in for a few SIMPLE things and got it back with TWICE AS MANY PROBLEMS. Was supposed to change the brakes with new hub bearings. My brakes are now leaking brake fluid and they didn't put in new bearings I did have the wrong size but told them I did not want the truck back without new parts , I would have had no problem paying. They were supposed to but all new boots on my inter cooler but did not they but pack on old boots AND DID NOT CLEAN THEM, I didn't even make it home without the boots blowing off . Was supposed to change a simple alternator but blew all my fuses now my stereo system / speakers doesn't work at all. OVER CHARGED THE LIFE OUT OF ME $500 on a simple door switch , just had to re pin the switches , simple instructions were given and did a god awful job. Also broke my door panel clips putting it back on and didn't bother to bolt the door panel down . The thing that really ticked my off the most was all the grease left all over my truck , also stained the interior center console with grease. I just put on brand new wheels on my truck while taking the wheels off for the brakes the chipped and scratches the dishes of the wheels . I took my truck in washed was dead clean I got it back looking like it left a scrap yard. IF YOU TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR TRUCK DO NOT TAKE IT HERE. They do not care for the truck at all they just blow and go lost all quality in workmanship. There are plenty of other diesel shops to go to! This is not the first time we have had problems here but was surely the final straw we work 7 days a week I do not have time to Constantly take trucks to be fixed, when a truck goes down everything needs to be fixed and gone through once , not by multiple visits. Ive brought my new-to-me Ford Excursion 6.0 here a handful of times now. Robert knows and understands the 6.0. The short: Always professional, courteous friendly and commutative. Will take my truck there for all major work I don't want to do knowing he treats my truck with care just like I do The long: The first dropoff I asked Robert to replace both wheel bearings and he let me bring in my own parts. They did an excellent job and in one day! Second time I took it in for a full front suspension replacement and after inspecting it, he recommended what parts to change and which ones were still good. I was ready to have everything replaced but I appreciate his honesty and not fixing what didn't need to be fixed. This last visit I had a leaking water pump. I brought him a new BPD water pump, fan clutch, radiator, hoses and even a full turbo back exhaust. Everything went smoothly until he called to let me know the radiator I had ordered was not for my truck. He was patient and waited for me to do the exchange with mishimoto and get the right one shipped out. I brought him the correct radiator and he finished up my truck. My truck was also missing some exhaust hangers and he discussed my options and made sure the new hanger was as strong as oem. Excellent once again! read more

So disappointing to have to write this review. I've been bringing my vehicles to Robert for years and have referred several family/friends to him as well. Never again! I brought my 2008 Saturn Aura to DAS on a Weds morning after my car began to overheat and would not hold radiator fluid. I had also asked him to do an oil change and check my transmission. He promised he would check everything and let me know what was going on ASAP! Robert knew my situation and that it was the only car I had to get to work. I'm a single parent and depend on my vehicle. I finally hear from Robert later in the day and he tells me its a hose that needs to be replaced. I have to leave my car over the weekend. Pick it up Monday and the very next day my radiator breaks. I text him and he tells me to bring it in Monday as they are closed on the weekend, so I go all weekend with no car. Never looked at my transmission, forgot to do my oil change too. Drop the car off Monday and after another $300 my car is fixed. I let that go, things happen. They did oil change but still never looked at my transmission. Several months later I need a catalytic converter and my power steering pump that he replace is leaking again. I bring my car in to get checked and leave the car over the weekend again! I have to call him Monday morning he quotes me $1800 just for the converter! I asked about the power steering pump and he says "it has a leak", no shit, I knew that. I asked him about the warranty on the part since he replaced it the first time and he says I had a year warranty and tells me it will be another $400 on top of what he already quoted. I got both fixed at Haven 76 for $700.00. I obviously cannot afford him anymore and tell him I will be there to get my car. I pick my car up and they did not put power steering fluid like I asked and when I got home and checked, my cap was missing that goes over the fluid hole. Left messages about it and never heard back. Roberts and his staffs entire attitudes have changed. They use to be nice & friendly guys and reasonable with the prices. I honestly have brought all my cars to Robert for years and have referred several people as well. Maybe it is because my ex is no longer around? I do not know. All I know is DAS is over priced and lazy now as far as I am concerned. I will never go back there. read more

Sorry to say that Robert and his staff have totally blown chunks. Long story short...one of his lead techs 'borrowed' my wife's 2005 Jag S-Type for the weekend and he lives in YUCAIPA! We found a BofA receipt from their branch in Yucaipa dated the weekend her car was in DAS's care. There was also a leftover bag from McDonald's. WTF!! To top it all off, they did not refill the fuel tank. When confronted with this news Robert blew her off by telling her that, "My guys wouldn't do something like that. Besides, I've given you all kinds of deals over the years so what's the big deal even if he did." Needless to say, we found a MUCH better place for Jag's in Upland. Sorry Robert. This review has been a long time in coming mostly because I struggled writing it. I first met Robert when I purchased my 05' Jaguar in 2007 at Alvarez dealership in Riverside where he was a service tech. I followed him a year later when he opened up his own business because he was the type of person I wanted to support. DAS was the only place I took my car to. He provided financial workarounds when I couldn't quite afford an expensive repair. Things went south when I took my car in a year ago for a repair. When I picked up my Jag, I found a bank receipt and an empty drive-thru soda cup in my back seat. I immediately called Robert who got upset at me that it was impractible to have his tech test drive my car 35 miles to the tech's home in Yucaipa then return my car to the shop when the tech could just drive my car to run his errands and pick up his son from daycare. Little did I realize that DAS's test drives translates into running personal errands, picking up food, and placing their children in your car. What if his tech got in an accident in MY car with HIS child in it?? Imagine the liability and lawsuits that would of ensued. Based on Robert's offer to make it right, I took my car in for one last repair to see if the professional relationship could be salvaged. Unfortunately, Robert did not keep his word by completing the free repairs he stated he would. I paid for the emergency repair I needed, and have not been back. It's a shame that things could not get back on track but any business that puts me at liability risk is a business not worth supporting. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! My water pump went out in my 2000 Ford 7.3l diesel as I was driving around town. I called up Robert and he told me to bring it in and they can fix it. I was a little bit concerned with all the tools I had in the back of my truck. He told me not to unload the tools, he would park the truck inside the shop and fix the water pump right away. **********PLEASE READ********** In January's 2017 I took my daughters car to this business to have her car serviced. The business told us the job would take longer than they thought to complete. The business offered to pay for a rental car till the service was complete. They directed us to a local car rental business where we went to pick up a rental car. I was told they needed my credit card to place a hold as security. I explained dealer alternative solutions was paying for the rental and they confirmed they had knowledge of that. My daughter used the vehicle for two days and was told to return it at the mechanic business which she did and picked up her car. I paid over $900.00 for the service they provided for my daughters vehicle. Dealer alternative solution turned the vehicle in a day later which was a total of three days the car was rented. A month or so went by and the car rental place charged me $50.00 for the rental which I disputed for two months. The car rental place the dealer alternative solution did not pay for the car rental so I had to. I made several calls to the dealer alternative solution which I was told the rental Would be paid for but never happened. My credit card was charged $50.00 for the rental regardless. Moving forward 7 months later I get a bill from the car rental business which related the dealer alternative solution was not paying for not one day the car was rented. I am now forced to pay another $25.00 for a total of $75.00. The dealer alternative solution will not return any of my calls. What a unprofessional place of business after I spent over $900.00 for service there and now over $1,000.00. What a joke read more

Overall good business , clean , friendly and professional. However they did miss a major issue on my Power stroke 350, I took it in to have it pre-tripped , I did inform the team that I was losing a small amount of coolant, the team pressure tested the coolant system and recommended a serpentine belt. well the EGR cooler blew in Utah. I would still recommend this team for basic deisel service , I wish they were more focused on the technical aspect and performance of diesels. read more

Diesel experts! Long story short I was sold a used dodge Cummins 5.9 with a bad engine. Warranty screwed us so we took it to the dodge dealer. They wanted 12-14k to replace the engine. I was referred to Robert (Dealer Alternative)by a good friend from Eliminator Boats. The second I met Robert and Kenny I knew I was in the right place. They service and repair fleet diesels and high end luxury cars, and there were many trucks lined up so I knew then a lot of great businesses and business people trust these guys. The engine was disassembled and Kenny took note of everything he had found. The engine was fully rebuilt with all ARP bolts and studs. They inspected my turbo and other systems to make sure I was going to be safe. I was out the door with a crispy Cummins engine, new starter, new batteries, fan clutch, a/c hoses. for just over 10k. Saved almost 4K not going to the dealer. They give me a one year 12,000 mile warranty (same as dealer) which is great!
