They also installed footing drain (French drain) on the back retaining wall, backfilled with the usual gravel, crushed stone and covered the outside of the walls with installed paneled stone veneer. They also did the initial former structure demolition, debris hauling and the requested earth moving and other necessary small retaining walls reassembly. It sounds like an easy simple job but, believe me, it got complicated quite soon. Along the construction way, I was able to interact with the crew and bounce ideas and corrections which were followed to my customer satisfaction, resulting in more than a very acceptable final product. When the inevitable, beyond his control, the one odd crew helper misbehavior occurred on the job, this contractor immediately corrected it, got on top of the problem and smoothly and quickly we had no more of an issue here. He also facilitated for me the customer to bring my own tile / stone wall-caps products and installer guys, which ended doing a beautiful job we're very proud of. Pricing fair, not inexpensive. Job done acceptable, with your own (the customer) continuous supervision and being able to stop working crew's irreparable mistakes before they happened, however, the final product came out well built and functional as we imagined and expected, we are grateful for that. It is a flagstone patio in which he poured a concrete slab, let it set, then came back and set large pieces of flagstone on top in mortar while considering and making the drainage perfect. Not an easy task and needed an absolute professional and forward and smart thinker about the end project. Art Tarantino saw it all immediately and delivered in spades. I did get several other bids, he was the high end of the other bids, and had a longer wait time, but we are so glad we waited and went with him. I had a LOT of questions before getting started because I wanted to understand all the details, and Felipe was very patient and took the time to answer everything and explain the different options. He also had some great ideas that helped improve the project while keeping it within my budget. The project was estimated at about 12 days, but his team finished in 8-9 days. I was really impressed with the attention to detail, quality of the work, and how smoothly everything went. The price was also very reasonable and stayed within my budget. There were a couple of minor things that came up afterward, which can happen with any construction project. I had some concrete film left on my vinyl deck and an issue with my gate latch after the concrete was completed. What I really appreciated was that Felipe took care of both issues. He came back and power washed the deck and fixed the gate latch. Overall, I'm very happy with the results and with Felipe and his team. He also measured the existing bricks on another tree box in my yard so that he could find bricks to match. On both days of the project, Luis and his coworker showed up on time and did excellent, careful work. I love how they cut the brick into little triangles to make the corners look good. The tree box looks amazing and is a big upgrade from what I had before. The price was exactly as quoted, and Luis gave me a receipt showing the material costs.
