The grill in the middle was really good, as was the noodle stall. We bought cheese and bread and wine. Fun to people watch, snack, and enjoy a couple hours on the weekend. Recommended.

What a great market!…read more I usually go to the Albert Cuyp for normal shopping, as it is closer to my house, and bigger. But last Saturday, when I ended up there rather by coincidence, I remembered why I passed by there almost every week back when I used to live in Oud Zuid. Thus, I have decided to do my best to visit next week again. The market is small, but very 'gezellig'. It's quite cute actually. It has a lot of different things - flowers, burgers, wine, meats, vegetables, cheese. I also got a homemade spicy sun-dried tomato mayonnaise. It was a bit pricey at 6,95 euros, but it is amazing! Perfect also for summer dishes, I paired it with cod cheeks on little gem salad and onion-parsley-tomato salsa. Delicious! But indeed, the price is a little shocking, especially if 3 stalls further you can buy a bottle of rose for the same price (even a bit less, actually). Also, my friend and I got a burger and enjoyed it in the sun; I recommend :) There is not a lot of place to sit, but if you can snag a spot at the shared tables, it is really great. Anyways - loving it - and I will be back for sure.

The food is excellent, they have English menus for us tourists, they're affordable, and they have a nice beer list and plenty of tables -- making them maybe unique among Surinamese places. It is helpful to make a reservation, but if you didn't ... they have a lot of tables, and many turn over fast, so get in line and wait, you'll get a table eventually. They have a really good selection of vegetarian dishes, so much that you won't feel restricted at all. Spice levels are moderate, so if you're a pepper-head, order some sambal on the side. Do order some of the side dishes; I'm especially fond of the bara and the teloh with salt cod and peanut sauce. Warning, though: Surinamese food uses nuts heavily, so do not go here if you have a nut allergy.

My kids asked and they didn't offer it as required by Dutch law for places that serve alcohol. 2. They didn't ask if we had any allergies. Abnormal for Europe. 3. There were items on the menu that they didn't have anymore. 4. The waitress couldn't tell us anything about the food or drinks. 5. Lastly to pay, I had to go to the bar. It was busy and I was in the way while I waited to pay.

These people know the essence of food and where food is all about. It was really heartwarming to see that their are other crazy people in this world who have a true passion for awesome food. I dreamed about this food last night. Everything was so tasty. Everybody just neeeeeed to try all this food. You can taste the passion and effort the makers put in it. Its a must. I know most Italians are very skeptical when it comes to good Italian products in The Netherlands. However, I've taken some of my most critical Italian friends to their food tasting event, and they are now hooked. Get connected with their Facebook page and attend one of their events if you are still not convinced. I discover them by accident when I attended an Elite Yelp event. I've been a big fan since. Now I'm hungry just thinking about their prosciutto.

Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! Highly recommend!
