**Takeout review** I absolutely loved the street tacos from De Leon's and it was my first time ordering from here. Really authentic tasting carne asada tacos and the portions are great. Price-wise, we have definitely come a long ways away from $1.25 per taco - one carne asada street taco was $4. It also did not come with any sauces and not a lot of the usual toppings (cilantro, onions). Willing to try it again and explore other things from their menu. read more

My boyfriend and I are regulars at De Leon's, the ladies that have been there 10+ months are amazing and provide great wonderful service and are great hard working people! Their food is always consistent and delicious! Their establishment is always clean and tidy which creates a comforting atmosphere. Put in a same day catering order right when they opened and they were able to accommodate our request which was great. Street tacos were pretty good. Only complaint would be that the order didn't come on larger catering platters so presentation wasn't great-food was just in take out styrofoam containers (order was for @ 15 people). Asked for plates and utensils and was told they don't have any of those things which seemed strange for a restaurant that fills to go and catering orders. read more

The food was cold, the service was ridiculous. We were the only people dining at the time we entered and our server Nadine took forever to get back to our table. Didn't tell us there was a kids menu which was hidden in the drink/happy hour thing. Didn't tell us that the kids drinks were 50 cents less than the adult drinks. Also my mother who was with us had a 10 dollar bill, she gave her a 20 and came back with 15 in change so she knew she would get tipped. Wowza! This place is so good! Seriously, so yummy. This is the first time that we've had restaurant food in over a year! Seriously. Why? Well, Covid. Oh wait, there was that one time that we did a Yelp Event picking up our food. So, I guess technically this is actually about the second time. So, for our trip out, I read Inlander's Restaurant Week pamphlet (this year called "Great Dine Out") carefully trying to decide which restaurant would be the breakout of Covid Jail, I mean Covid Lockdown, meal. When I read the various descriptions of different restaurant's signature dishes or specials, De Leon's Baja Burrito stood out, and after visiting De Leon's website to check out the menu, it was a no brainer. The Baja Burrito has incredible succulent shrimp, black beans, green peppers, and rice all blending wonderful flavors and it's HUGE (easily feeding two people in my opinion). The takeout order also included chips and salsa. Oh, the flavors were top notch, so yummy. This is a family owned business with three locations. Luckily one of those locations is on the South Hill, which is easy for us. Now that we've broken out of Covid Jail/lockdown/hell, we'll be BACK to this restaurant, for sure! read more

Food is tasty! But I actually came twice this week and both times the service was terrible. It's like the servers are actively avoiding the customers, it's impossible to flag them down to ask for chips and salsa, the check etc. I saw people waiting for a table who actually ended up leaving because not one server stopped by to greet them and show them to a table. Took 20 min for my husband to get his margarita and after 30 minutes I ended up walking up to the bar and asking for mine. Turns out it had just been sitting there and no one brought it over. We asked for extra chips and salsa which were never brought to the table, but of course they tried to charge us for them. I wanted to like this place. But I just can't. We didn't like anything. The chips were hard and thick like cardboard, to start. But mostly... I ordered a burrito with carne Asada. The meat was either old or it was round steak. It tastes and felt steamed without a any flavor. The texture was mushy and tough at the same time and it was gray. It was absolutely not carne Asada. The sauce tasted like nothing but chili powder. And everything else was under seasoned so it just tasted like chili powder and bad meat. Like the store brand canned enchilada sauce. I ate some but ended up leaving most on my plate. They really need to do better. There are two other Mexican restaurants within two blocks and both are good this does not compete and unfortunately will be passed by us. The reason I felt I needed to review this is that it bothers me that I was sold one thing and given another. I know that wasn't carne Asada. Thank heavens for Spokane Restaurant week. After a year of cooking and eating almost all our meals at home, we decided to have a take-out meal. This restaurant was one of the featured restaurants in the Inlander's "The Great Dine Out." Ordering was a breeze as all we had to do was check out the menu online, pick up the phone and place our food order. We paid on the phone so we could pick up the food curbside. Parking was free and easy as there is ample space in the parking lot. Twenty minutes after ordering , the food was delivered to our car by a mask-wearing employee. Once we had the food in the car, we drove home enjoying the wonderful aroma. As soon as we arrived home we were ready to eat it. I ordered a Sergio's Burrito with pork chili verde and green sauce. An excellent choice as it included guacamole. My wife ordered the Baja Burrito. She'll tell you about that one in her review, but I know she really enjoyed it. The chips and salsa were a pleasant surprise in our take-out package. Early on Sunday evening, De Leon's was already beginning to fill up with dine in customers. Spokane is still operating at a 50% capacity restriction (3/21/21). I highly recommend this restaurant as the food tastes fantastic, just like home made. read more

Nom Nom! Delicious! Every time I order their food I get it hot and absolutely delicious. Their tamales are moist and flavorful, I could eat the masa all by itself. Their burritos are enormous! My husband isn't usually a Mexican food lover but he gobbled down their enchiladas before I could even sneak a bite to taste, so I don't know how they are but if the way they disappeared is any indication they must be good. I really wanted this restaurant to be successful. De Leons is convenient for us - just down the street so we tried them for carryout during Covid. Didn't go so well - order was late and not complete but food was okay after we microwaved to reheat. A fluke...maybe, so we tried a simple order for two on 3/2/24 last weekend. Maybe not so simple because the order came to $60 with an appetizer - we paid over the phone. I showed up when they said it would be ready and they hadn't even started the order. Said it would be ANOTHER 20min and suggested I buy a beer at the bar - not a free beer for the inconvenience and wait. Thirty min later, they bring me a bag of food and a bill for $125. I had already paid and the bag was too big to be mine. Five min later, they have it figured out and bring a smaller bag. I asked twice if they were sure the wrapped items were mine and the order was complete. After assurances, I head home with lukewarm food. How good is lettuce after microwaving - NOT! Order was missing beans and rice also. I called and they told me I could abandon my meal and return to the restaurant for missing items or they would offer me a free desert. So generous, but I didn't think the food would survive another microwave. Will be patronizing our old SouthHil standbys - Senior Froggy and Taco Bell next time. FYI - the "Shared Guacamole" appetizer for $8.99 amounts to a generous handful of chips and a 2-3oz tiny cup of forgettable guac. Sue me if I'm wrong. read more

I asked if I could get a chorizo taco ( no eggs remind you) and was told they could not prepare it ,even though there was plenty available. Now before any thing else is said I ordered in Spanish. Just visited this location for the second time, and my husband and I are obsessed! The first time I had a carne asada bowl and my husband had a burrito/chicken enchilada combo. We were both really impressed - it was the best Mexican we have had in Spokane. The restaurant was super busy, but our server was very attentive and friendly - the food came out a little slower which is expected when you are in a completely full restaurant. It was well worth the wait! The second time I tried the street tacos - a chicken, pork/cactus, and carnitas. All were so amazing that I ordered a second round when I finished. My husband liked the chicken enchilada so much from last time that he ordered the enchilada combo. Once again, we were impressed with how delicious everything was. The server was once again very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was mostly empty this time, probably because we came later on in the night - our food came out in less than 10 minutes! We haven't tried any of the cocktails yet, but the bar is fully stocked and the cocktail list looks delish! We will definitely be back again. read more

De Leon's street tacos are solid, if perhaps a bit on the pricey side. The service is always top-notch. On the entree side, their chile rellenos and chimichangas are quite good. The beer is always cold, and the people are friendly. While the strip mall location doesn't have much in the way of atmosphere, it's always comfortable and clean and rarely has there not been an available table. My only gripe is the guacamole. While it's excellent, you get perhaps four ounces of guac for $6.00 - which is crazy. read more

We went in for fajitas as takeout has been delicious. We will not be going back as the service was terrible. It took about 10 minutes to bring chips and salsa and water. We ordered Diet Coke and another 10 minutes went by for the waitress to come tell us they were out of diet. The sampler platter looked great but the chicken appetizers had to be made out of canned chicken. Very disappointed. We asked for boxes and a bill and another 10 minutes went by. There is not a single item on their menu that you can go wrong with. You could close your eyes and point and still end up LOVING your meal. I live close by with my man who is from California and loves his Mexican food but is verrrrrry picky. But we will patron every single location of De Leon's in Spokane!! We live super close to the one on the south hill so we have been there probably more than five times and every time the service is friendly, and the food is brought out very quickly. It's a great place to go if you're starving but also want a sit down dinner. The staff is amazing, the food is amazing, and the ambience is friendly and lively with international sports always on the television. I think they have like 8 TV's. A friend told me about this place and I was skeptical about whether it would be good or not (I am Mexican American and some people say some Mexican places are "so good", but actually not authentic at all, and NOT so good). I can honestly say that this restaurant has AUTHENTIC Mexican flavor and is so delicious! My fiance and I went to get some tacos here last night and were not disappointed! It was SUPER busy on a Friday night, which was a good sign for us (must be good). We ordered the sampler platter with carnitas, salsa verde and salsa Colorado. Just amazing!!! Arrived at 5:25. Server said they are backed up, it would be a half hour. So, okay, we wait. Nasty chips and decent salsa. 6:00 no food, "it should be soon". She asked if we wanted more chips. I assumed these would be complimentary, because of the excessive wait. I should have asked because it turns out they were not. Food finally arrived at 6:45, after being told 5 more minutes 4 times. The previous experience was also a 1 hour wait on a Saturday at 4 pm. We had people at the house, ordered food, went to pick it up at the assigned time, but ended up waiting 60 minutes. This is while we were entertaining people at home. If I can't count on their honesty when it comes to meal prep time, I can't go there. So the reason why I'm giving this a two-star because ordering takeout compared to ordering inside the restaurant well let's just say it doesn't even compare. Look at my beef enchiladas compared to a beef enchilada plate when somebody orders it in the restaurant. The Taste is there however I feel like I got the short end of the stick. Tried this place out because of Inlander Restaurant Week. I was running errands near South Hill, so I decided to head to DeLeon's for lunch. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly. We were handed the Restaurant Week menu and I was excited to try three courses for $22. I ordered from the menu. However, the dessert I wanted was not available. My friend ordered horchata and it wasn't available at this location. This was not a good start for a first-time visit. The chips and salsa came. They were not good. Now I see why some posts are critical. The chips were too starchy, almost as if they've been in the bag too long. Salsa was not up to taqueria standards at all. It had no seasoning and really tasted like canned tomato. Again, not a good start. We finally ordered tortilla soups, carne asada and churros. I had seen an Instagram post from another DeLeon's location showing their tortilla soup. I was excited to try it. However, when it came, the soup was good, nothing spectacular. The portion of carne asada was was filling and tasty. The rice and beans were good. The plate did come with sour cream and guacamole. However, mid-way through our meal, the tortillas finally made an appearance. The churros were probably the best part of the meal. They were tied with the carne asada in my book. Would I return? Maybe. There are other awesome restaurants in Spokane, I would need a really good reason to return. First, I recommend changing up the chips and salsa. This is pretty basic and if this one thing was changed, the dining experience would be drastically improved. I'm not a fan of restaurants cutting corners. Also, if your establishment is going to participate in a large-scale event, make sure you have the items advertised on the menu. read more

This is the first time my wife and I have been to this restaurant. It's down the sidewalk from where my wife had a physical therapy appointment, and when we asked the two ladies at the reception desk for a recommendation they recommended this place. The staff was highly friendly and checked on all the customers regularly. But the food, oh the food - plentiful and outstanding. I love chili rellanos, and De Leon's had the best chili rellano I've ever had. The pablano pepper was large, and the sauce and cheese were both great. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was less than half full, which should have been a clear sign. The zags were on screens around the entire restaurant, what better place to watch the game and have a margarita?! I have always avoided Deleon because of their "99 cents store turned restaurant" design approach, however the inlander just gave it best Mexican food in Spokane, so I gave it a run. The moment that we sat down, I was annoyed because the people in the booth behind us kept banging the back of their booth, almost tossing the salsa off my chip on the way to my mouth. This continued for the entire night. Don't sit in the very poorly constructed booths unless you take something for sea sickness first. The chips, while crisp, almost seemed like air fried parchment paper. The salsa is the star of the show there, quite good, and needed to cover up all of the other food sins. T W E N T Y M I N U T E S. That's how long it took to get our drinks. There were four people working the front of house, and the place as mentioned was far from busy. 20 minutes. We all almost walked out 3 different times while waiting. The drinks were made and sitting on a tray at the bar while the bartender was busy talking to another waitress.... The margaritas finally make it to the table AFTER the "food" did. We ordered the top shelf margaritas, which tasted amazingly like lime gatorade with a splash of well tequila. The ice seemed to have melted while they sat at the bar. Quite simply the second worst margarita I have ever had, the first being from an airport restaurant in the midwest, but it was a very close second. The food. I'm sorry, but there is no excuse. There are 3 other Mexican restaurants within a few blocks, ALL OF WHICH are far superior Mexican food than DeLeons. Yes, the portions were very generous, almost as though they just needed to get as much food out the door as soon as possible. Quality not quantity should become a term they are familiar with. The green stuff, which they called guacamole, was just that. Green stuff. It had no flavor, no texture, and was served on the side as a delicacy. The flank steak fajitas came out not sizzling, but quite cold, on a very hot skillet. It was as though they scooped the food out of a container in the fridge, and relied on the skillet to heat the pre cooked mound. Again, this was a good portion, though I had ordered the flank steak, which instead was a pile of limp onion and peppers, with a spattering of gristle. Overall, the food was extremely bland, with lots of "filling" that even the good salsa could not save. It really is a shame. I don't make it a habit to go out and spread a bad review, but sometimes you have to. DeLeons does a disservice to "Mexican cuisine". Put some effort into it. Harsh? Yes, but so was the check when it came.... Not overly expensive, but painful when you consider the quality of food, beverage and service. read more

I love de leons tacos. To the low ranking reviews, this is a taco bar. While they have other plates, they specialize in tacos, and thats what you should order. Also the rebel fries. Its similar to people that go to a steakhouse and are underwhelmed by the fish they ordered. There's not a bad taco on the menu, but i really recommend the carne asada and the holy tacos. read more
