But a vivid memory. I remember LOTS OF color and lots of beauty. This store has that too!! There are SO many cute and affordable gifts in this store. I got my son a wooden glider plane because even though he's 10 he still LOVES making paper airplanes and flying them. I also got him a change purse, one of those cute sandwich plastic coin purses we all had as kids that says "candy money." I bought quite a few cards there and I got myself the line a day memory journal, which is the "One Line a Day," for 5 years. For ME. Everything about this store is curated so well. Adults have plenty to choose from: Fred items, funny and kitchy cards and beautiful gifts. They also have so many beautiful tissue papers and gift wraps and bags. Not to mention that the store ITSELF is beautiful! I really need this woman to come and design a space for me. Because it was so beautiful, well curated. Asthetically pleasing, and inviting. I will be back if I'm in NOLA again. Otherwise PLEASE visit this adorable store!!

I was raised in an mid century modern home. Who knew that I would come to love the clean classic…read morelines that seem to interact well with my funky eclectic style. One day the Pirate says: I'm tired of all this bargain basement, thrift store, upcycled, found on the side of the road crap we have. (maybe he didn't say bargain basement or upcycled, but he was wearing an eye patch....no that's not true....maybe drinking whiskey at 9am? Yep definitely true) I saw a review for this place and popped in one day.......Ohhhhhh.......Ohhhhhhh....... yep I was in furniture store love. It's not cheap, nor is the quality. So the Pirate is tired huh....Well I'm going to get exactly what I want then. Our affair started with several trips to view a davenport, that's what my MamaToo called hers. It needed to double as a sofa and comfortable bed for guests visiting. Davenports tend to have boxy cushions that can be removed revealing a day bed sorta thingy. I went maybe three times over several weeks. It was an investment afterall. Katie was there from the beginning to help, no pressure...take my time...she'd send pricing quotes for different configurations and pictures, did i need a swatch sample? I gave my orange retro couch the old heave ho and passed it on to a herb smoking musician and have never looked back. Next came the side table a few months later Then they had a warehouse sale and we bought a sideboard ( Ohhhhh I love that piece) then another side table for whiskey for the pirate.... a few small gifts for friends over the years from their in-store selection and various pop up shops they host. Katie was my gal.....who put up with my thoughts and hesitation to invest.... never any pressure Then I bought a new dresser (I dragged my old one onto the side of the road, helping a man load it into his truck....hey...why I am loading it.....) and then I bought a slim book case that I had been eyeing for months was snagged at their showroom sale. Of course I needed the nightstand match now....so I bought that. and then one day i looked around and I was finished...no more to buy....no more...nope.... Over the last 3 years I have loved everyone and my darling Katie..... AND then my gal hooked me up for a VIP sale..... probably the best deals ever and since dear Angelique needed a desk, I picked up a desk top and a single chair......and a market umbrella for future festivals and what not. The Pirate doesn't complain anymore, but he still drinks Whiskey at 9am. He is happy with my choices and considers this mid century modern look his now......I need a bigger house or a new studio...sigh tell them CrazyRe' sent you

They didn't have tons of gift items when I was there. But they did have some pretty amazing modern house decor. As befits a store selling modern furnishings everything was clean and well laid out. The store was easy to move around in and everything was clearly marked. The staff seemed to be in a meeting when I arrived (30 minutes before closing) but a salesperson did offer to help me and the one other customer in the store. She checked back in with me while I browsed but was definitely not pushy. I really want/need the copper chair they had on display...but first I'd have to figure out where to put it.

They have candles, diffusers and all kinds of home smell goods too. I came here for the Blue Elephant yellow curry and found a plethora of other items. I picked up some spices that I watch on many cooking shows. I found harissa, ancho Chile, and Chinese five spice....these are not found in local grocers. I love tea and currently looking for pau d'arco. While I couldn't find it here, there are a variety of other organic herbal teas to choose from. Of course where's there tea, there's coffee and liquor. Thought I'd just slip that in for the drunkards lol. So, heading to the register, I found an area with lots of baking goods. Since I'm learning new baking skills, I picked up some items to test them out. Naturally, homemade is always best but I was curious to see what a double butter pie crust mix entailed, so I got that too. This was my second time here and I actually like this store. I'm sure I'll be back but if you're looking for something different, you'll find it here.

They also have one of the largest Haribo collections in the city and at one time this was the only place you could buy gummy bears. A little know secret is their "birthday cake" pancake mix. I'm addicted after receiving it from a friend. I now give it as a gift with a waffle maker for Birthdays, weddings and house warming gifts. The mix is perfect. Look it's not organic, it's named Birthday Cake flavor for a reason. The wine and beer selection is quite vast and they offer discounts on multiples. I just like this store, I always have, I always will.....maybe you will too?!

I won't lie- I liked it for the first few minutes. Then I hated it. Then I didn't notice it. Aside from the smell, Kirkland's is pretty awesome! I don't even think I have set foot in a Kirkland's since there was one at Oakwood mall in the pre-Katrina days. This store is packed with all kinds of decor for the home from lamps to wall hangs and really cool stuff for the kitchen. They had these really cute measuring cups (see my photo) with cupcakes on the handle! That stuff is right up my alley and in my wheelhouse. Fair warning: being in this place will make you want to redecorate asap. I want a portrait of a French cafe on MY wall, is all I'm going to say. I found a really cute hand painted tea cup that is large enough for a lot of green tea for about $7, so I was more than happy to pick that up. I liked it here and I'll be back.

The place is nicely organized and the staff is always running around putting things away. There are a lot of "big" things around the place, like big picture arts, vases, wreaths, mirrors, etc. My mom comes here once in awhile and she says they always have some sort of sale going on. During my first visit here earlier today, they had 25% off wall mirrors .. thought it was a really good deal. With the final sale, it was decently priced. Deducted a star cause they don't have any shopping baskets! My mom and I grabbed some trashcan and used that to carry our candles as we walked around looking at other things. The staff is also friendly, so that's a plus. Come check it out!
