We did not call him back about the problems. Perhaps he would have fixed things or given us a refund but we wanted to just move on from this bad experience and take the loss.

When we were choosing a contractor, Mr. Contractor's Yelp rating gave me some hesitation - especially given the high ratings elsewhere. But when I read the reviews themselves rather than just looking at the overall rating, many of the complaints seemed to involve relatively small jobs. We needed someone for a large, complicated renovation of a very old house, and the experience and capabilities Ken demonstrated seemed much better suited to that kind of project. Having now completed the job, I'm very glad we made that distinction. This was a big project, and our old house threw plenty of surprises at us. Once the demo began, our engineer found that part of the kitchen needed to be structurally rebuilt from the foundation up. That meant coordinating with our architect and structural engineer and substantially expanded the work. Despite that and the many twists and turns that followed, Ken and his crew kept things moving and completed an extraordinary amount of work in just 10 weeks. What really stood out was the crew. These guys were craftsmen who took genuine pride in what they were building. More than once, they spent extra time on something simply to get the finished result just right or recommended enhancements that were not charged. A friend who is a high-end interior designer saw the kitchen afterward and was impressed by the quality of the construction and attention to detail. We also lived in the house throughout the renovation. The crew was friendly and respectful, and they cleaned up the work areas at the end of every day -- something we came to appreciate enormously during 10 weeks of construction. Was every little detail perfect the first time? No. But that's actually part of why I'm comfortable giving Ken five stars. When something wasn't right, he worked to make it right. He and his team stayed engaged through the end of the project, addressed our punch-list items, and have continued to stand behind their work afterward. And we LOVE the result. The kitchen has completely changed the way we live in the house. It has become the place where our family naturally gathers, and it's as comfortable and functional to cook in as it is beautiful. The new bathroom has been equally transformative. At the beginning, I worried that we might be spending too much on the project - and it was significant. But by the end, having seen the amount of work involved and the quality and care that went into it, I felt exactly the opposite: we received very good value for our money. My takeaway is that Ken's particular strength is a substantial, complex project where you need an experienced GC who can keep multiple trades moving, deal with unexpected conditions, solve problems as they arise, and see the whole thing through. Renovating a 130-year-old house isn't easy, and I'd much rather have a contractor who knows how to deal with the inevitable problems and stands behind the finished product. We'd happily hire Ken and Mr. Contractor again.

Wow! That is all I can say about my experience with Garrett Group Construction! My partner and I…read morejust bought a home that had a lot of issues we wanted to tackle before moving in. Garrett Group Construction was reasonably priced and operated 100% around my schedule which was amazing! Joey was very helpful in explaining everything that would be done and why. He was a trooper as well through all my extensive questions and concerns. Here are all the jobs they did for me: Tightened my loose porch post's, replaced numerous pipes, traps &fixtures in my basements and bathrooms, replaced my laundry sink, secured my loose toilet, installed a new exhaust fan, closed holes on the outside of my soffit, repaired and painted my bedroom ceiling, removed my family room blinds and put up curtains, installed 3 TV mounts, framed my attic (on a 100 degree day), fixed my door frames, repaired cracks in my exterior and added weep holes to my exterior. I'm sure there is more that I'm forgetting because the team was so fantastic and I interrupted them a few times and added more jobs as I discovered them. Moral of the story is that if you are looking for a contractor that truly treats you as if you are their family member and looks out for your best interests while providing exceptional quality work and customer service then look no further then GGC! You won't find anyone better!

This review is long overdue for work we had done in October. We needed a contractor to turn a large…read morebedroom into 2 smaller bedrooms for our kids. We needed framing, sheetrock, electrical, trim and closets built. Joe was way more responsive than all other contractors and was very reasonable with costs. The price was exactly what he quoted us. (Another contractor was supposed to start before we found Joe and completely ghosted us around the start date.) Lou was the main guy who was here several days and he was great. We felt totally comfortable with him in our home. Our 4 year old son kept asking where Lou was after the project was completed. Lou worked around us when it came to hours that worked best for our family. Our kids love their bedrooms. And our 4 year old son finally sleeps in his own bed. We will be calling Joe when we are ready to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

None of the contractors were providing a breakdown of their costs and their materials so we could see exactly what we were paying for, and we felt that they were just throwing large numbers at us because "that's what it costs to remodel a bathroom." I was lucky to hear about Beltz Pro Remodeling through a referral from a tiling contractor that had previously done work for us at our previous home. After reaching out to Jim and meeting with him to discuss the project, I could tell right away that he was very knowledgeable about construction and renovation work and had a lot of experience. Not only was he straightforward and professional from the start, but he's also a genuinely nice person and I found it very easy to work with him throughout the entire project. He was very timely in getting the project estimate to me, and I was very impressed how he had the estimate broken out into labor and material costs for every phase of the project. Most importantly, he was the only contractor that said the words "I want this job" when following up on his estimate, which was extremely important because that told me that Jim was the kind of contractor that treated every job and customer equally, regardless of the scope of work or cost of the project. There were also no hidden costs, and any change orders were discussed up front and agreed upon before proceeding. Living through a renovation can be very stressful and inconvenient (especially when both my wife and I work from home), but Jim and his crew were extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional during the remodel process. They were the nicest guys and we talked with them every day, and they made sure to inform us of any issues or asked for our approval on every detail before proceeding. After each phase was completed, Jim made sure that we were happy with the results before moving on to the next phase. If there was something that we were not happy with, Jim made sure that it was corrected and done to not just our expectation, but to his company's expectation. Once the master bathroom was completed, my wife and I could not have been happier with the finished product!! Not only does it look amazing and like a bathroom out of a magazine, but it was done right and at a fair price that fit within our budget. Starting on day 1, a subcontracted demo crew arrived along with Marcus from your team. They accidentally nicked a knob and tube wire along with 2 pipes. We did not know at the time, and noone from your team told us even though I have video proof they knew earlier that morning. We later found out when OUR plumber came to check on the pipes and noticed the mistakes and pointed it out to all workers present at that time. Knowing these pipes were nicked, they closed the floor anyway with the active leak inside. Following installation of the toilet and shower head, when I went to use the toilet, water came spewing through my ceiling downstairs- The team refused to acknowledge responsibility, initially stating it was the radiator regardless of my insisting. Upon locating the leak was actually in a drain pipe, they then said it was the subcontractors fault for nicking the pipe, completely ignoring the fact that if it wasn't enclosed under flooring, this would not have been an issue. Along with this issue, I had multiple concerns with professionalism and communication throughout. I was never told who would be coming on what day, and I encountered about 6 different workers in the time Mendr worked on my house. I was told Marcus would be my project lead, and he was only present the first 2 days. When we would relay a message to one worker, they would not relay it to the others, which lead to huge gaps in communication. We would ask for things to be done a certain way, and the team would ignore and do it the way "they always do it", even when resulting in poor installation of the sister beams, flooring, and cutting into my stack pipe for the exhaust fan. Your team did not put any tarps down unless we asked them to and even then, did not fix them when they would rip. There were multiple discussions regarding safety issues I caught on camera as well that your team still tries to pawn onto the subcontractors I didn't even know were coming. The absolute worst part about this team regardless of all the issues I encountered in my home is that your team still refuses to be held accountable, and does not seem sympathetic in the least for any of the damage caused in my home. I have photo and video proof as well as multiple other professionals who stated the work your team provided may as well be illegal with the lack of safety concern and poorly following ANY coding guidelines. Even with all of this, Kyle, you still try to deny claims and report the subcontractors did it- completely ignoring ANY of your teams responsibility in this matter. Do better, Do not rip people off if you can not handle the project. We deserve our down payment back, none of the work you performed was actually usable! You are only as professional as ALL of your employees and it has been made clear you do not send the same employees for all of your jobs.
