I left a check for 2650.00 which was quickly cashed. He was supposed to have completed a Parkwood half basement sheet rock ceiling, which was already stripped of anything, install a drop ceiling in the bathroom, install 11 recessed lights and install a drop ceiling in the laundry room with tracking. He never came to the house as per my daughter who was home. He sent two contractors which neither one of them spoke English, and did not understand what my daughter was telling them when they were trying to move the bed, shoe closet and dresser which they broke and tried to hide. So they installed the drop ceiling in the bathroom with the track, which was already in there, which was multiple colors and should have been changed, did not install the recessed lighting in the bathroom did not complete the spackling on the sheet rock ceiling or partial drop ceiling in the basement. And did not touch the laundry room. Now he will not respond to my text messages in my emails and complete the work I highly suggest to avoid this contractor.

We needed framing, sheetrock, electrical, trim and closets built. Joe was way more responsive than all other contractors and was very reasonable with costs. The price was exactly what he quoted us. (Another contractor was supposed to start before we found Joe and completely ghosted us around the start date.) Lou was the main guy who was here several days and he was great. We felt totally comfortable with him in our home. Our 4 year old son kept asking where Lou was after the project was completed. Lou worked around us when it came to hours that worked best for our family. Our kids love their bedrooms. And our 4 year old son finally sleeps in his own bed. We will be calling Joe when we are ready to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

After calling a few other contractors, Casile Novelli was the most responsive and helpful. I dealt with Dominic - who gave me a fair estimate and did a really nice job on the repair. The repair required taking apart the shelving in the closet and putting them back in place, painting, and using a repair compound for the walls. They did a really nice job and I'm really happy with it. If I had any issues in the house in the future, I'd definitely reach out to them again.

Since then, I've discovered all the things that were wrong with the job - the latest of which was today: 1) They beam reinforcements broke through my upstairs floor, so it's not level and we've had to build over and around it since (they used a steel i-beam, so not able to replace or repair easily); 2) The cinder block repairs were unnecessary- what I needed was a foundation repair; 3) They broke boards in the floor while jacking the ceiling and did a shoddy job throwing 2x4 in place that wasn't flush with the floor; 4) In the bathroom, they didn't repair the toilet properly, so I had three wax rings and a toilet that was connected to nothing (started leaking into my ceiling last week, now getting repaired properly by a plumber). 5) When they did the work, because I paid Mark up front, what should have been done in a few weeks took about three months. He'd go for long periods with his guys not showing up before they'd come back. Having now done more real estate investing and remodeling, I recognize that he was probably upside down on cash flow and was doing jobs to keep paying his guys and slotting us in where he could. There are some other items, but I strongly recommend that you look for another contractor for any serious job you do.

We had the original, outdated cabinets, appliances, flooring, and windows to deal with. Justin did an incredible job with the demo first (getting everything out with no damage to the house; cleaning up along the way; getting the dumpster delivered and then removed.) Every time I came home, I was delighted to see that the space was swept and safe for my daughter and our dog to walk through. After the demo, Justin quickly moved into flooring, plumbing, and cabinet installation. Every single construction job requires pivots. The key is how your contractor handles unforeseen changes WHEN they come up (because they do.) When our cabinets were delivered with 6" of additional width (our outside cabinet partner's fault!) Justin quickly helped pivot and reflow the layout to fit the space. What would have set us back three weeks was reconfigured and fixed within three hours. The final product is absolutely GORGEOUS. Everyone who visits asks who did the work. It is a joy to recommend someone as detail-oriented, kind, and talented as Justin. We got our countertops from Ikea and he was flexible fitting in around their schedule. So much for that 1 year warranty he claims to give on his website. Him and his employee's are a bunch of crooks!! I would have posted photos but I'm not computer savvy. The reviews are fake!!
