Really excited for this restaurant as I'm pregnant and they have a pickle bar. I really wanted some half sours. I came during lunch and the pickle bar was disgusting. All the pasta salads were all over each other, all over the pickles. It was a mess and really turned me off. It didn't seem clean and maintained. I managed to get my pickles even though i was grossed out. To my surprise most of them were old and transparent. No crunch at all. I was also really excited for rainbow cookies as I'm from upstate and heard they carried them. But, they tasted no different than the prepacked ones you can order online and were terribly dry. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The food was awful, hair in the chicken parmesan. The waitress is awful, rude and pushy. Her reaction to hair? Oh, where? and then took the plate and wandered off. I was in Ormond today and decided to finally try out DB's. I, for one, was far from impressed by the food or the service. I will say the waiter seemed to really believe all his raves about the food there but nothing I tried was great or even very good. I found the Cuban basically tasteless as did my companion. And her Brisket sandwich was just awful. The brisket was sliced too thick and was tough to chew and it was tasteless. We both ordered Milk Shakes but after 10 minutes were informed that DB was out of ice cream. So I had a diet cola but my friend ordered an Egg Cream. Though the flavor was "really good" as she stated, the fact that it was room temperature was a bit baffling. We added some ice from my diet cola and all was well with the egg cream. This was most likely our first and only trip to DB Pickles. Yes the servings were large but a lot of "not good" is too much. I left half of my half of the Cuban Sandwich on my plate and more than half of the brisket sandwich was thrown out. Alias, the onion rings were OK. Lastly, the service was adequate but not great. I am being generous with the 2 stars. I was originally going to eat at Pasha's Middle Eastern Restaurant in Daytona and as I drove out of DB's I wished I had stuck to my plans. read more

This place is incredible!! We loved the food and the service!! My family of four got two pastrami stacks, the turkey stack and the four cheeser. Everything was delicious down to the last bite including our sides of macaroni salad, potato salad, french fries and sweet potato fries. Although we were stuffed we order dessert to go. The bakery is overflowing with amazing over sized goodies!! We couldn't decide on just a couple of things so we got the pineapple upside down cake, the lemon supreme cake, the jumbo eclair, the crumb cake and a variety of cookies!! again everything was perfect. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. The only disappointing thing was that we found this gem on the last day of our vacation!! luckily we only live an hour and a half away and plan on returning soon :) read more

So, I heard great reviews of this place and I thought I would check it out. I had the Ruben with coleslaw. The Ruben was "ehh" and the coleslaw was very wet, but this wasn't the thing that concerned me most. SO MANY OLD PEOPLE! I felt like I was eating dinner at the old folks home. I have been there a couple of times and I won't go back. Went on St. Patricks Day and the service was terrible. Long wait as others that came in later were served first. The order was wrong. Fries were an extra charge. Slice of cheese on my sandwich was an extra charge and they never did put it on the sandwich. To top it off we asked for a box to take home half of the sandwich and pickles we didn't finish and were told that we can't take the leftover pickles home because it's an extra $2.99...What were they going to do with them? Very extensive menu, we always get one of the soup and sandwich type lunches. The chicken soup with matzo ball was great and corned beef on rye with yellow mustard was enough for a meal. We take home a desert or two for later but the best part of this visit was our server Anbriel. Why they put "deli" on the sign is beyond me. Many, including I, thought it was merely a deli and didn't stop in for quite some time for that reason. They are probably losing potential customers. This place makes everything from scratch, and has a full menu. I mean, literally anything you want is on this menu! Everything from salads to pasta (chicken fettucine alfredo was delish), to crab cakes and reubens, plus pulled pork sandwiches! I've never had a bad meal here, and it's a great place to go if you have a larger party with varying tastes. One person can get a sandwich and another can get pasta, or seafood, you get the picture! Now the decor isn't anything fancy, think more along the lines of a Picadilly cafeteria. But we don't mind, the food is awesome! read more

I ate DB 3 times. 1st time i ordered cuban sandwich which was super salty, I sent it back, and the 2nd time i ordered the corn beef sandwich , it was just lunch meat. 3rd time i ordered the matzot ball soup which was extremely salty, I sent it right back. Great place. We tried the "Tuesday Night Prime Rib Special". This is a nice 10oz cut, cooked to order with two sides, at a special price. My wife had the "early bird" Baked Ziti. Both meals were substantial portions and absolutely delicious. Based on the menu, it appears that most items come with the "famous" Pickle Bar. A pickle bar was a new experience for us, but a nice touch. It is as it sounds--various pickles in a salad bar setting. In addition to pickles, there are a few pasta salads to choose from. The bar was well stocked, clean and very tasty. In addition to the sit-down restaurant, it appears they do a substantial business in deli-sandwich carry out and fancy Italian pastries, cakes and cookies. There is a new "special" every night and the line up looks great. We're planning for a non-Tuesday visit to try some of the other offerings. Prices were modest and we left for $35 including drinks and tip. Well worth a try. read more

Real traditional deli. What a find. I had a "Rachel" (actually a pastrami Reuben: a Rachel has coleslaw, not sauerkraut) with excellent pastrami, and first-class potato salad, the real deal. With a Yuengling and the pickle bar (what a great idea!) I was a happy camper! For a Boston boy used to this, living in Providence (a great food town, but no deli) this was a real treat! Last night was our first and likely last visit to DB Pickles. We drove over 30 minutes to try this restaurant. We were seated promptly and our waitress came and took our drink order quickly. When she came back with the beverages we placed our order, the Antipasto Platter first, followed by a Pastrami sandwich. After about a fifteen minute wait, we flagged down the waitress and asked her what the delay was in getting our food. She said she would check in the kitchen. When she returned, she told us that just when the order went up, the cook decided to take a smoke break. (yuck!!! we really want that food now !) Then she came back and told us she put our sandwich in and she didn't know what was going on with our Antipasto. Still no food after another 10 minute wait. So we walked out, in plain view of what looked like 3 managers, no one cared or said a word to us. Although we never got our food, my husband appreciated the free cola and pickle bar (delicious deli style pickles). Would have loved to have tried the pastrami! Went up the road to Woody's BBQ and was in and out in less time than we waited at DB Pickles. read more

First time here and a bit disappointed. Ordered take out, as I was pressed for time. When I got there my order wasn't quite ready, which was OK. I repeated my order to insure I was receiving the right to go order.. I was handed two styrofoam cups and told to go to the pickle bar. Confused I filled both cups with all pickles. I was waiting on my fried pickles, I assumed I was picking out the pickles I wanted so they could fry them fresh. A women checked over my order and I was given fries instead of potato salad I ordered. They quickly fixed that. Finally after much confusion and too many pickles later, I am walking out. When I get home, I open the box with my sandwich, low and behold, they gave me the wrong sandwich. Not to mention the chicken was extremely dry. Thank goodness I got my potato salad because it was the best thing I ordered. I give the place three stars because the employees were nice. Food was OK. Not what I Ordered. I will definitely give the place another chance. I really want to try their desserts. Just a lack of What's going on really. read more

Came here with my family. My grandparents have been coming here for years but haven't been in a while. I had crumb cake because I wasn't hungry which is really good the corn beef with one of the best my mothers ever had, and my grandparents live there meals to. The crabcakes were excellent. This is coming from someone who travels specificallyto New Orleans to get crabcakes at Oceana. These crabcakes were on par with those wines. Would definitely recommend coming here, they have a small little pickle bar and a variety of bakery goods. Seemingly inconspicuous and could use an update and decor but the food speaks for itself. read more

Food was plentiful, but not great in taste. Pulled pork was kind of mushy, and soup was like it was out of a can. Pickle bar was pretty neat, but I have all those in my fridge at home, so there was nothing that stood out. read more

Our experience tonight was an absolute disgrace. Our waittres either could not hear or she had it out for me as a woman. I was first to order and I ordered theSurf and Turf. Asked for the Turf to be put on another plate as to I am alergic to seafood. That was the only thing that was correct with my visit. I had ordered with my food, mashed potatoes and a ceasar salad, instead of the normal medley vegetables that comes with the meal. My husband order a steak, mashed potatoes and also a ceasar salad. He got his ceasar salad but I did not. I asked were my salad was and she said "Oh I did not realise you wanted one". She brought my salad, and thought that would be the end. Oh boy here comes my meal, Steak and Medley vegatables. Not once was I asked if I needed anything like steak sauce. My husbands meal showed up 10 minutes later and the waitress asked HIM if he would like some steak sauce and he said yes I would like A1, she brought back Heinz 57!!!!! I made a comment and I believe another waitter over heard me about our service with her and the waittres came back apoligising of her mistakes. I went over with her what I wanted, did I not ask for the salad first and did I not ask for mashed potatoes and she replied that she made a mistake. I said it is okay water under the bridge. THEN she asked my one son if he needed a to-go box he replied yes, looked right at me and I said I would like one to. She returned with ONE box. My son said my mother did ask you for one to. I know you heard her. Then the bill comes, she gave my husband his meal free and still charged me for mine. Mine was the most expensive one of all. I have not paid for any of my meals even if the service does not apeal to me. And I rarely ever speak out. We do go to DB pickles at least once a month but I will tell you now I will never go back again!!!!!!!!!!! Not once did the manager come to our table and ask if everything was okay. There was a comment card on the table and yes I did fill it out and personnaly handed it to the manager and said this was the worst experience I had ever had. He took the card and just smiled. We had some friends go there recently and had a similiar experience. Not sure what is happening with DB PICKELS but they better correct there issues or they, like other companies will be going under. read more

I went there for the first time this past weekend and it was great. I highly suggest the eggplant parm and meatball sub. The portion sizes are very large, the pickle bar is amazing and such a unique touch. The service was great, they now even have a place/hall across from D.B. pickles to have parties. I am a resident of Ormond Beach and dined at DB Pickles on many occasions.On Wednesday, May 23th I went to the Pickles in Ormond Beach , on Nova Road. There was four of us and we were seated right away. /That turned out to be the best part of the service for this visit. The waitress came to our table and took our order, It took over 25 minutes to receive a couple of sandwich platters and 2 pork chop plates. My husband had orders a Grill cheese triple Decker sandwich without tomatoes.. Not only did his sandwich have tomatoes on it , it also had someones hair in it. YUK!!! We called the waitress over and showed her the hair, no apology was given, in fact she seemed a little annoyed. As she removed the sandwich she turned to my husband and ask " So do you want another one" What!!! Yes please,my husband said and please make sure there are no tomatoes on it. She never came over to see if everything was okay, not even to get us more drinks, We had to ask one of the other waitress to get us more drink which came back without ice and was warm.... The only one of us wanted desert , a dish of ice cream was ordered. After 15 minutes I asked our waitress where the ice cream was. (personally I think she forgot), instead of apologizing for the wait. she turn and give us a look and said very curt " Do you still want the ice cream?" We said yes, and the plate of ice cream arrived within 2 minutes. I don't know what the problem was with our waitress and the wait time for the food, (with the hair) but we all were very disappointed with our visit there and would think twice about going back???? read more

I have lived in the area my whole life and worked in restaurants for many years. I have never had such disgusting food! If the health department were to actually walk into this place I'm positive their doors would be shut immediately!! I had a horrible experience months ago when we went in for dinner. My prime rib dinner come out ice cold! After waiting over 15 min for someone to come to our table we had to ask the hostess for a manager. He arrived and proceeded to argue with us about the meal. He attempted to fix the problem by taking the prime rib back to the kitchen and putting it under the broiler. We left very unhappy and dissatisfied. Several months later I gave the restaurant a second chance with my co-workers against my better judgement. I ordered a chicken sandwich thinking that was a safe bet. My chicken was chewy and my bread was so soggy I could not eat it. On the way out we all stopped by the bakery for a few treats. I got a cannoli and took it back to the office. When I went to enjoy my treat I was three bites in and bit into a hard object. Upon further investigation I believe my foreign object was an old harden pickle. I would never recommend eating at Pickles!!!! read more

i just put a negative review on here and you did not take it. now i know what kind of site this is and where your bias is....the order taker had no smiles or nice personality, not helpful for someone not familiar with their ordering take-out procedures. i felt like an intruder and really not wanted...the food was the worst pastrami sandwich i ever tasted and the pickles were uneatable!...not worth your time and especially your hard earned money to spend at "pickles"....dissapointed in ormond beach. read more
