I can still recall the day I was told my three-year-old required extensive dental work. He had fallen and developed an abscess on his front baby tooth that required an extraction. As a mother, and a woman, I immediately succumbed to an irrational set of beliefs: (a) this situation was completely my fault and (b) my child's social life was doomed. After consulting several pediatric dentists, Dr. Hanson was the obvious choice not only because of her impressive educational background but her constant professionalism. She is not only highly educated but extremely personable as well; a combination of traits that is not always present in this field of work. She sat down and actually explained to me the reasoning behind the need for the extraction and talked me through what the process would involve. Her confidence, knowledge, and compassion immediately won me over. Moreover, I particularly liked that she provided me with the option of bringing in an anastegologist to her office- essentially not only saving me hospital fees but, more importantly, providing a setting my son would be familiar with. Even more surprisingly, they even closed the office for the morning which made the experience far more personal. I had chosen to bring in an anastegologist due to my son's age and the work he had to have done. This was not an easy decision, but my husband and I could not have asked for a better group of people to perform all of this on our son. Everyone on the staff, right down to the receptionists that greeted us at the door, did everything to make us feel comfortable and welcome. When you walk into the office there are childhood pictures of Dr. Hanson and her entire staff in frames on the wall: a reminder that we were all children once and that going to the dentist can sometimes be a little scary. I was able to show my son her picture and explain that like him, Dr. Hanson was little once too. Four hours post op, I couldn't believe how rapid his recovery was. One would never believe that just hours before he was completely sedated. He did not complain of any pain whatsoever. He even was able to walk out of the office on his own. Dr. Hanson and the staff at Dayspring greatly exceeded my expectations. They made the entire experience significantly easier. My son experienced minimal, if any, pain at all. Dr. Hanson followed up with us later that day and was readily available if we had any problems or concerns- which we didn't. At our follow up appointment, my son was not afraid to go back and seemed to have no recollection of the actual procedure. I credit Dr. Hanson's professionalism and skill but, I would be lying if I didn't mention the fun toy that he got to pick out at the end of his visit. Dr. Hanson also gave me tips and tricks on how to be most effective when it comes to brushing teeth. She showed me different positions I could place my son in to make sure that I could reach every spot. She even provided me with a special fluoride toothpaste to help given the tiny size of my son's mouth. Needless to stay, although the drive is over forty minutes from our house, we definitely have made Dayspring Pediatrics our first choice when it comes to our children's dental health. I realize this review is on the longer side, and I apologize for that. However, for parents, especially ones that are looking for a dentist that can perform exceptional work beyond the routine teeth cleaning, I hope this helps. Picking a dentist for your child is not an easy decision. I never write reviews but I genuinely felt that I would be doing a major injustice to this office and everyone that works there if I didn't take the time to thank and acknowledge them for helping us through a difficult time. If you are looking for a pediatric dentist that encompasses professionalism, extensive experience and knowledge, but most importantly- genuine family values, look no further. I assure you that after the visit you will want to post a review as well. It's refreshing to see that there are practices still out there that care more about the child than the money. Dayspring is awesome! The ladies here are great and do a wonderful job with my children. Because of them, my kids love going to the dentist! They're very patient and caring with my children. The doctors are very personable and good at explaining everything. I always leave there feeling like all of my questions were answered. We are new to St. Charles and LOVE Dayspring. The hygienists made my kids feel very comfortable and took a lot of time showing them the proper way to brush their teeth. I recently took my 12 month old son to see Dr. Pedersen for his first dentist visit. He had some dark spots on his teeth and I was in a panic that they were cavities (he's still nursing during the night and I was worried about "nursing carries"), though hopeful that they were just stains from his vitamins. I called the day I noticed them and they were able to fit me in the next day. The front office staff were very pleasant, and the hygienist was so friendly! Dr. Pedersen was great with my son, approaching him slowly and calmly and performing a thorough exam despite my son's wailing. I was so thankful and relieved when he confirmed that the spots were just stains!! I was impressed with Dr. Pedersen's knowledge of nursing and its implications on baby teeth health and cavities. He DID NOT tell me to wean my son from night nursing, which is what I was afraid I would hear. He did encourage better brushing to remove any sugars on the teeth, especially immediately before bed, and showed me the best way to do that. He also talked about diet and foods / practices to avoid. Aside from that, the office is very clean and kid friendly with a children's play area in the waiting room. I would highly recommend this dentist to parents of young children, and we will definitely be returning once my son's molars arrive! read more

My one year-old came here for his first appointment and my three-year-old came here for his annual check up. The entire staff was so welcoming and accommodating. Definitely take your kids here. Dr. Maureen and her entire staff from the front desk to the hygienists are awesome!! read more

I loved this place so much. Everyone who works there was so nice and friendly to everyone who walked through the door. I saw Dr. Kyle and the rest of the staff ever since I was 3-4 years old and they were all great! I had to switch because of my age but still I highly recommend this place for kids! read more

Upon taking my 3 year old to his first dental appointment we found out he needed 4 crowns! Anna worked with us (tirelessly I might add) to figure out all the insurance ins and outs and come up with a solution that worked for our family. Dr. Lisa and staff are amazing and all my questions were answered. Amazing service and care, I felt my child was in the right hands and even though they are out of network I will not take my kids anywhere else. Cannot say enough good things. read more

Beautiful office, but for being a kids dentist, they are terribly inflexible. Went there for a second opinion and they turned me and my two kids away when we were late for our appt even though I called to say I would be late prior to the start of my appt time. It was also terribly difficult to get in to get an appointment at a decent time, seemed to have very limited hours. I will not return as I need an office that understands the daily struggles that can occasionally happen with young kids. read more

My children love going there! I'm so happy I found this office. I would highly recommend them if you're looking to take your child to a dentist. I was nervous at first and was worried that my kids would be too. But we had a great experience and I never thought my kids would actually enjoy going to the dentist! Amazing experience. My son had a injury to his mouth, causing an already damaged front tooth to become loose. I tried to get him into his 'real' dentist, who only has pediatric services 2x/week and they told me they'd get back to me. I called Dayspring and even though we'd never been there, they kept the doors open until I was able to make it to their office almost 30 minutes past their close time. I really wanted him to be seen b/c it was a Friday and Christmas was the next week, so there was no telling who would be open when. He ended up having an infection in the tooth and needed an extraction. Bear in mind he just turned 4...well, I can't even begin to tell you how easy it was! He came out of the room with a big smile on his face, a toy, and his tooth. No worries at all! So impressed! Thank you all. read more

Love this place!! My son has been going here since he was 3 years old. He is now 12 years old and my two other children go there also. My daughter had several cavities when she was younger and they fixed them without her having any pain. They all love to go to the dentist! They meet with you before they start and then they show you the results of the check up. They are out of network for us, but I would never try any other place. read more

Not happy with this place. They wouldn't let me go back with my daughter who was terrified. They were very cold about the whole process.

This place is wonderful! Our son had fallen and shattered his front tooth on a Saturday (out of state). We went to our dentist Monday morning who referred us here. Dayspring got us in Monday afternoon, pulled the tooth at the same visit, and asked us several times if we had any questions. They fully informed us of what they were going to do and put as at ease. We also don't have dental insurance for our son. I was expecting a visit of several hundred dollars and was pleasantly surprised that the total was just a small fraction of what I was expecting.
