Seems like they've been open since the mid-80's, circa my start date as well. I can't really say it's a 'hidden gem' because it's notoriously mentioned in many circles as the "have you ever been to THIS place??" place, but people usually answer YES, with wide eyes and a few memorable dish notes. We went for a mid-week date night, and there was a constant flow of seemingly satisfied diners. The ambiance was warm and cozy, not too dimly lit but very deliberately paced with the huge portions they offer; the service was top-notch, friendly and knowledgeable, always checking back at the right times and knowing what we would need as guests. We ordered several of their suggestions with no reservations, and they delivered. My fiance still talks about that apple cider margarita and it's firmly on the list of not-too-hard-to-make restaurant favorites we roll out for our guests at home. The stuffed mushrooms had a ton of crab meat and far less breading than most, without being saturated or too heavy to start the meal. The salads are certainly slept on; neatly arranged but never the star when pitted up against their hearty steak or cajun offerings, their house salads are hard to beat, unless you're paying up for a meal-type salad. As good as those two items were, the scallops I had with their cracker-encrusted light breading were the epitome of simple, sauteed, buttery-by-nature seafood; they were the best version of scallops like that I've ever had. And the dessert...just perfect for so many reasons; crispy and gooey caramelized bananas, a good amount of vanilla ice cream and the best cinnamony syrup sauce that I couldn't stop lapping up. Really, a fantastic experience, we'll be back!

The woman was incredibly rude. She basically said if we didn't have a reservation then tough luck. Definitely won't be back. I don't take rudeness lightly. I won't recommend this place to anyone I know. Also, it's not a great looking place. I expected something nicer/more upscale for the prices they charge. It's very basic and boring. They need to do better in every way. From staff attitudes to decor.

I am new to the area and so I searched on Yelp to see what would be available on such short notice…read more- it's New Years Eve 2024! As those who follow me know I rate each grubbery on its own merits. Each stands alone. This spot definitely does. And I'm so happy it does. Also know that I rarely give 5-Stars. This spot deserves it because it is obviously proud of what it does. I came across this restaurant on YELP with no posts...no reviews...no pics. NOTHING but the address and contact info. Usually I simply swipe past these and go to places reviewed. I kept coming back to this spot wondering why no one had commented. Not a one!? Anyway, I called and made a reservation. We arrived and were quickly greeted and seated. Jennifer, the server, was great. She took our drink orders - Pina Colada and a Corona. Mom loved the Pina Colada and the Corona was almost frozen! Perfect. When I saw listed on the appetizer/salad section an Octopus Salad my eyes widened. The reason being that as a child my mother made an incredible octopus salad. It was one of those dishes that stuck with you. But, I have never ordered it anywhere and enjoyed it. Except for tonight. The Octopus Salad I am EXCELLENT starter. It was super tender. It was not fishy. It was truly amazing. Me and my guest really REALLY enjoyed it and will definitely have this the next time we return. Delicious!! I also ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. The surprise here was the Orange Marmalade served as a dip. It was great. For dinner I ordered the Mofongo w/ Lobster - Mofongo made with chicharron, and the Fried Red Snapper - 1.5 lbs was served with Tostones & a Small Salad. I also ordered the Veg of the Day: Broccoli & Carrots - cooked perfectly and tossed in a garlic butter sauce. Everything...EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! I could not believe it. Each dish served was equal if not better than the previous one. The Red Snapper was crispy and seasoned perfectly. The Tostones were crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. The dip served - a garlic mojo - was awesome. My mom's Mofongo was also very very good! She did have a little trouble with the lobster tail. My suggestion to the chef and management is that they split the shell to make accessing the lobster meat easier. It was a chore. Make it easier. The entire dinner was exceptional. Truly. We were very happy and will make this a regular grub spot. I asked to speak to the cook. Her name is Elba. She works dinners. Ask if she's present and let her know you were sent by the Puerto Rican Chef. Server Jennifer was very friendly and courteous. The best thing was that dinner was not rushed!! I hate when I'm eating a course and the next course is brought out. She was super professional and accommodating. The decor is festive!! It's super clean!! There is plenty of parking. The music they play is apropos for this establishment. I believe it was heavy on Bachata. There is a full bar. And here's another great surprise - they have outside seating! But, wait!! The outside patio has a few "igloos". Private seating for nights where the weather doesn't let you sit outdoors. Each igloo sits up to 8 people. You can dine outside in the cold weather because the igloos" are heated!! Yes. HEATED IGLOOS you dine in! Pretty cool!! What a wonderful surprise this place has turned out to be. We will not only be back but we will also be telling our friends and family that THIS should be a stop of theirs...regularly. Come check this Latino/Peruvian/Dominican grubbery and truly enjoy the flavors.

My husband had always wanted to visit this restaurant so it was his Valentine's day surprise. I'm glad for the experience but I don't think I would select this restaurant again based on a few things 1. They did not have a full menu and offered almost nothing was available on their special Valentine's menu for those with shellfish allergies And although after hearing my concern the owner offered to make something different if I "hid " it from the other guests. I felt odd and uncomfortable 2. The menu had no prices and while I understand it is "fine dining" it made deciding difficult and it would very much deter me from ever going back especially when I received my Valentine's surprise-- the bill. It was pricey 3. Our food was quick and steak was tender however it lacked any flavor. Now I do have to say that my husband is an amazing steak preparer and I have rarely eaten a steak that stands up to his. So I may be a bit bias But I did add a few shakes of the salt shaker to get any flavor then dipped it in butter. It just had no flavor but the tenderness was perfect. And their house salad dressing was perfection. All in all. I loved the experience but it would not be my first choice of fine dining And I would recommend other restaurants before I would recommend The Alberdeen Inn.

Super nice folks that greet and take care of you. Lots of really comfy booths. I wanted to try the molcajetes with the shrimp, chicken, and steak. It's big enough to share! That thing comes out steaming and gorgeous. Honestly, I loved the sauce and queso best. The chorizo is nice. Of the others, I think I liked the shrimp best, though the chicken had great flavor. Nice fresh smaller tortillas are the real deal, too. We had the side of guacamole. Very nice. I want more next time. We ordered the rice a beans side. So good, I think we'll get two orders next time. We added the carne asada to the nachos. That green sauce on the side is great! I prefer the carne in thin slices. Yea, we still had leftovers! Nice brews on tap.

Obviously, we chose Diego and it was the right choice!! A mid-afternoon Sunday in May is not a busy time for Poconos restaurants so the parking lot was empty but we were greeted with warmth and smiles as the rain water dripped from our clothes and hair (Thank goodness for their cloth napkins!). Since tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo and there are plans for feasting on the holiday the choice for this rainy day was Diego's "Goat Burger." It was an AWESOME and flavorful burger the goat cheese melted throughout the huge burger patty only enhanced each bite. It's the best burger I have had in some time covered with a really great sesame seed bun (Looking out through the window as the rain poured down I could see that familar yellow arch thinking what a fantastic relaxing experience this was compared to burgers in a bag ). Service was great throughout... our waiter did his best to add dessert to the order but the road called however I cross this intersection periodically and next time ole... I will try one of their Mexican options.
