Let's just say the rain was pouring down ... a soaking rain and the choices at this junction of interstate highway exits was fast food, convenience food and Diego Rivera where we could sit in a comfortable dining room. Obviously, we chose Diego and it was the right choice!! A mid-afternoon Sunday in May is not a busy time for Poconos restaurants so the parking lot was empty but we were greeted with warmth and smiles as the rain water dripped from our clothes and hair (Thank goodness for their cloth napkins!). Since tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo and there are plans for feasting on the holiday the choice for this rainy day was Diego's "Goat Burger." It was an AWESOME and flavorful burger the goat cheese melted throughout the huge burger patty only enhanced each bite. It's the best burger I have had in some time covered with a really great sesame seed bun (Looking out through the window as the rain poured down I could see that familar yellow arch thinking what a fantastic relaxing experience this was compared to burgers in a bag ). Service was great throughout... our waiter did his best to add dessert to the order but the road called however I cross this intersection periodically and next time ole... I will try one of their Mexican options.

I was looking forward to eating here given an alluringly decorated location, but was very unpleasantly surprised by a 45 minute wait for a burrito and a molcajete! We asked the waitress for an update and didn't get any news. Maybe some chips and salsa for the table would have abated the issue, but even this seemed to be unobtainable. I wouldn't come here unless you can afford to be forgotten. Molcajete was decent, but not worth the steep price tag - and to make matters worse, my burrito came out on a half empty plate, with cold, congealed cheese and flavorless white rice, nary a sprig of cilantro, or even a dash of salt or pepper. I wish I could say the food was worth either the price or the wait, but truly there was nothing good about this experience. Take this review as a warning and look for the next spot down the road.

This place was fantastic! I came across it on here when my friends and I were trying to find a spot around Lake Harmony. The reviews were good, so we decided to give it a shot. We're so glad we did! We drove up and were worried when we saw it was attached to a hotel. We figured it can't be that good, but we were wrong. The whole experience was fantastic! Our server was a young man named Alejandro. He was awesome! He took care of our group of 7 and didn't miss a beat. Seriously amazing service, plus, I had the most amazing horchata and he mentioned he made it himself that morning. So good!! When we looked at the prices, we were a bit alarmed. They seemed high at first. It was like $23 for 3 tacos, but honestly, worth every penny. The quality of them and the flavor was amongst the best Mexican food I've had and they were absolutely packed with meat. Go on and give this place a shot! You're gonna love it!

Where to start? First of all, my family and I are regular visitors to the Poconos throughout the year. We usually stay right across the street from here. They just opened up not too long ago. My wife and I remember the spot that used to be here before, and let me tell you, we had a really bad experience there -- probably why it closed down. Thankfully, this great authentic Mexican restaurant opened up right after. And let me tell you, I'm so glad they did! We came in with the family for dinner, and even though the place was packed, we still had the best experience. Service: First class. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Food: Don't even get me started -- it was amazing. They make their own homemade tortillas for their tacos, and that alone should tell you everything. I had the steak fajitas, my wife had the mixed fajitas (steak, chicken, and shrimp), and my kids enjoyed steak and chicken tacos. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. As a bonus, the server brought out a complimentary cream of corn topped with queso fresco for us to try -- and it was absolutely delicious. Overall: Diego Rivera Mexican Cuisine is a game-changer for the area. Authentic flavors, top-notch service, and a warm atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

It was a quiet Saturday night and not much was expected walking in here. The Mexican enchiladas, tacos, guacamole, salsa, and molkajetes were truly authentic. Highly recommend

Really, really good food! The fish tacos were fantastic but the enchiladas with mole sauce were even better. It's a real hidden gem.

This is a review of Tavern on the trail update. I've recently found out that the establishment has…read morebeen sold to a new owner. I have met him just this past week and think he's a stand-up guy. This is all my opinion and I'm just somebody that frequents this place as much as I can however I am not 100% local. So a lot of what's in Place is going to stay like it is for now which is nice. You're going to see a more enhanced menu but for the most part, many of the faces you've come to know at this place I'm going to be here. Everything sounds really positive in the changeover. One saying that I'm not crazy about is a possibility of the changing the name. This is my opinion here. Since 2020 the previous new owners took over ....and the name of Capone's went into the history of this location. It had residence here for many many years. Back then it was really no more than the towns great dive bar. A local establishment in a small town filled with locals. And rightly so. It was everything anyone could ask for in a local bar. From 2020 till early this year those owners with the new name of Tavern on the Trail went through highs and lows of rebranding the establishment. They took it from the dark dive bar entity to a brightly lit place where patrons can enjoy a smoke free bar. As well, families can come to eat and not have to worry about smoking and some of the other things that come with a dive bar categorically.. Since then as well, and this is important, the Tavern has become a great stop for recreational visitors. Those using the trail as well as River recreation. Being an Outdoors person myself kayaking and hiking and backpacking, biking.... If I am out and about on one of my excursions and there just happens to be a place called Tavern on the trail, which associated with the trail that I'm on, I think that's cool. I am definitely trying it. I've met so many people that only come around once a year. They make Tavern on the Trail a scheduled stop. So not just for these types of visitors, but all kinds of visitors to the community of Whitehaven this name Tavern on the Trail. I think it's attractive and well thought of as the base reality of it all is the Tavern actually sits on the trail.. I for one I'm going to be disappointed when the name changes. However, that won't stop me from coming. This place is far and away. so much better than years ago..

The restaurant was staged beautifully and decorated for a between-the-holidays meal, and even though it was packed there was only a low undertone of voices from the surrounding tables. Our waiter was fantastic and gave honest, informed suggestions that showed great menu knowledge. The cocktails were creative, well-balanced and refreshing; we tried the pomegranate cosmo, winter maple old fashioned, mistletoe mule, holiday margarita, and butterscotch espresso martini. The whipped ricotta and poached pear crostini really stood out and was an incredible way to begin the meal, but don't sleep on the bacon wrapped scallops. I could have eaten a bowl of that sweet corn puree and even though it's a party favorite, the smokey/sweet bacon/scallop combo was even more crisp/tender than most their kind. For entrees, we rattled off some Chilean sea bass (w/ citrus beurre Blanc), linguine and clams, and spicy chicken pappardelle, finishing with a few lunges at their Classic House Made, original 1989 recipe, Peanut Butter Pie. Normally my fiance and I split our entrees; unfortunately, I couldn't come up from the Sea Bass long enough to even offer her a bite. It was really a wonderful sauce, and a perfect amount to swirl around in the risotto. I was able to score the remainder of the clam linguine as leftovers, and even heated up in the microwave two days later it still qualified as a top three clam linguine dish I've ever had; buttery, lemony, garlicky goodness.

Service 10 of 10. Food 10 of 10. It was a ride but worth it. Go. The risotto was fab and the soups…read morewere perfect. We will ho back.
