Day Yoga as a studio is pretty neat. Very convenient location with a lot of knowledgeable staff. However, I joined an early morning hot yoga class with a man named Morgan, who, made me feel uncomfortable. his vibe was totally off, and despite preaching wieners and inclusivity, I noticed an undercurrent of superiority and abrasiveness that was hard to rectify. He turned me off all hot yoga classes due to his demeanor. read more

I did a Hatha yoga class with Cynthia on a Saturday morning. The class was easy enough for a beginner or someone who hasn't been practicing for a while (me). The staff were so very welcoming!! I was greeted at the door and they offered to get equipment and set up a space for me. The space itself is very calming, the lighting is perfect and the feeling of a community is here! They also have a studio downtown on Brown Street and very flexible scheduling. I am happy I gave them a try!! read more

I was enticed to try this yoga studio because of the intro monthly unlimited option. As one of my friends unfortunately learned the hard way, you can only purchase this option before you ever try one of the classes. She had paid for a drop in class, then afterwards decided she wanted the aforementioned package to which the studio refused at that point. The monthly unlimited was great because it let me try many styles of yoga with the many teachers available there. By the time I was ready to purchase class passes, I already determined which instructors I prefer and the classes I get the most out of. I believe every yogi will find something they enjoy at this studio. There are two studios, one very large space and another small studio. I have never had trouble while attending classes in the large space, but have been a little too close for comfort in the small space. Sometimes the instructors really cram yogis into this space when they should honestly turn folks away. Also to note is that most classes do not start on time as they are waiting for late arrivals; usually no more than five minutes. It doesn't bother me too much especially because they will extend the practice. However, that means you will get out of class later than you might expect. There is always a variety of classes at various times throughout the day, seven days a week. So many options to practice. Parking is available along the street and in a parking lot on the side of the building that is accessed via an alleyway in the back. I was introduced to Day Yoga Studio in mid-November when a friend purchased an introductory monthly unlimited membership for me. The $39 membership afforded me the opportunity to attend classes as often as I liked for 30-days and much to my surprise I fell in love with practicing yoga. I went to as many classes as possible trying out as many different types of yoga and working with a wide variety of instructors. Here are a few of my observations from this experience: A. The instructors were kind, considerate, knowledgeable, and they ALL demonstrated a passion for teaching yoga. B. The studio itself is beautifully designed giving off a warm, inviting vibe and provides a serene and relaxing environment to practice. C. With the number of classes Day Yoga offers on a daily basis it was easy to find a class that fit my needs on any given day. D. Before my one-month membership expired I purchased an additional three-months of unlimited classes simply because I could not imagine my life without yoga nor could I imagine a better place to practice then Day Yoga Studio. E. Using the MINDBODY Connect app for my iPhone made scheduling a breeze and I would highly recommend using it to book your yoga classes at Day Yoga as well. Very inconsistent in class offerings. When you call a class power hour I expect a fast flowing difficult class. Unfortunately the power hours are generally very basic and not challenging for advanced students. Classes are repetitive and many of the instructors frankly do not know how to teach a power flow class. If you're looking for a slow flow class you may find what you're looking for but don't waste your time on the power hour if you have greater experience in yoga you'll be disappointed. read more

I've found this studio totally inconsistent. The classes are marginal and most of the classes are taught in the small rooms as the largest room is reserved for teacher training. Love this studio. Great variety of classes. Instructors are very accepting. I feel welcome here and have brought guests who also felt welcomed and accepted. The studio has Hot Power, Gentle, Restorative, Aroma Flow, Yin, Prenatal, Children's, & Aerial classes (my personal favorite). Instructors personalize the experience. They also offer Yoga Teacher Training, Aromatherapy Certification, monthly workshops & guest teachers, and host special events such as Wine & Yoga, Summer/Winter Solstice & holiday yoga classes, the Happy Haunt 5K in downtown Dayton, Partner Workshops, monthly Acro Yoga, Astrology and an annual retreat to Costa Rica. You can pay the $15 drop in fee per class (military discount is $11/class), get a 10-class pass for $10/class or get a monthly unlimited membership. Price is good. Great location. Arrive 5-10 mins early to park (street parking & a lot in back, gets crowded on weekends). Studio also houses masseuses (aruyveda oil massage, deep tissue, swedish; I've been to 2 therapists & was thoroughly impressed with both), a skincare specialist who uses natural products, and a hairstylist. So many great things I could say about this studio, almost don't know where to begin! I was completely new to yoga, and had no experience before arriving to my first class. The building looks small on the outside, but is surprisingly very spacious. They offered a wide variety of classes at all times of the day that worked with my work schedule. Day Yoga Studio was recently renovated within the last year or so, and now has upgraded its hot yoga studio to include heating panels (rather than the numerous space heaters they were using). The rooms are spacious, pleasant, and (important for a yoga studio) don't smell like feet. Day Yoga offers a variety of classes, including belly dancing, prenatal yoga, kids classes, and other things like massages and aromatherapy. The pricing is reasonable for a hot yoga class ($12 for drop in, $55 for 5 classes, $100 for 10 classes, and $75 for unlimited monthly). They also have a facebook page which they update constantly, which is great if classes get cancelled due to instructor illness or weather. I've only ever tried their hot vinyasa yoga, so that is what I will review. The proprietor of this studio, Devon Schmidt, is one of the calmest and nicest people you will ever encounter. She teaches on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Her classes are a nice blend of strength training and flexibility training. If you are a newcomer to hot yoga, I definitely recommend that you start with one of her classes. Brandy Erazo is the newest instructor, and she is very eager to teach students new poses. She focuses mainly on flexibility. Even if you can't do some of the poses, she is encouraging, positive, and supportive. Justina Crawford teaches hot yoga on Monday nights, and focuses mostly on strength training. She is passive aggressively discouraging, holds poses for too long, talks during class, and drains students within the first 10 minutes so that students are exhausted to the point they can't complete poses later on. I would NOT recommend starting with her. I enjoy encouragement and a hard work out. If I can't do all the poses with Devon, I feel positive and like I want to work harder the next time so that I can complete them eventually. By the end of Justina's class I want to punch somebody in the face. read more

I've been coming here for 2+ years solely because of Sara Barry's class. If you come, I implore you to take her class. She makes yoga fun and exciting. I'm not a fan of the crunchy granola "lets hold a pose for 10 minutes to align our chakras" type class. Sara's class is not like this. It's unique and will give you an amazing workout. read more

I bought my mom a gift certificate for over $100.00 between Christmas and her birthday. It is now July and every time she tries to register for a class they want her DEBIT CARD number! NO I payed for the classes. When I called multiple times about buying the gift certificate never once did they say they would want a card to hold on file. To add insult to the purchase whenever my Mom tries to meet someone in regards to classes no one is ever there in the 15 minute window before classes. When I called the owner to discuss these issues she tried to blame my mom, saying she should be able to get there or call to schedule a meeting. Let's clarify, she did and the guy that met her KNEW NOTHING! Soon I will be trying to go through the BBB to get a refund and repurchase a gift certificate elsewhere. I started prenatal classes at Day Yoga a few months ago. I didn't take yoga with my first two pregnancies and have really enjoyed the class. The instructor, Robyn, is wonderful! The class focuses on strengthening muscle for child birth, breath, stretching and relaxation techniques. It's my favorite part of the week. this review is not against the yoga, i am telling people NOT to go get their nails done here... big waste of money. I got my nails done for my wedding here on the saturday before, and my SHELLAC (suppose to last 2 weeks) only lasted ONE DAY. they all started peeling. not to mention the girl that did them (she's super sweet) made them look like any old joe shmoe did them.. the building is nice, im sure the yoga there is great but NOT the nail people... why didn't i call them you say? well they NEVER answer their phone. i called originally to make the appointment and they called right away. i called yesterday TWICE explaining that i needed to talk to someone about getting a refund and NOPE. no call back, their messaging machine says, please allow 24-48 hours for a call back because we experience high call volumes. bull sh*t when i went there, there was absolutely no one there and no phones ringing... so i don't buy that sorry. i will be going to PAY SOMEONE ELSE tonight to REDO my nails for my wedding now. thank you DAY YOGA, i will never go back or refer anyone to you. read more

the entire basis of this now "company" is a joke. i applied to teach here fresh out of my insanely unique experience of a YTT (i literally lived with monks, practiced and studied under them). the owner of the then ONE studio building forced me to elaborate on my experience etc, then tells me i don't have enough experience and now- i get on mind body & they have literally stolen ALL of my class structures for hatha yoga. as if they have any clue in the first place how to teach this yoga. honestly now they are taking over all of the dayton area and it enrages me to see such fake westernized yoga being blown up around here. i have 2 things to say: 1- i can not WAIT to open my studio and literally crush these fakes off the market & 2- nothing good ever comes from stealing content from another. god is always within us and that's what yoga should have taught these people.
