Came by here for lunch while on a cruise port stop. Seated promptly and ordered bottled waters. Ordered chicken tacos (3) and a chicken burrito. It didn't take long for the meals to be delivered. Everything was good but not great. We thought the chicken was a bit dry. Service was prompt and good. Wait staff was nice and helpful. Restrooms are clean and modern. My friends and I needed to find a local bar where we could watch a NFL playoff game. Earlier during the day, we noticed a few bars on the Malecon that looked promising. Day Off particularly stood out to us because of their multiple TV screens. All their seating was outdoor. We snagged a few tables in the back for our party of 8, but there wasn't a bad seat at all. Also what's awesome was that they turned up the TV volume, so we could listen to the commentating during the game. While watching the game, we ordered food and drinks. My friend and I shared a plate of carne asada nachos, which I honestly thought were the best nachos I had the entire trip. I also had the pleasure of trying a fish taco, and I thought it was delicious. The fish was super crunchy and loaded with fixings. Their margaritas were solid but a bit on the sweeter side. Customer service was great. Our waitress was friendly and highly attentive. Our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. read more

We got off the cruise ship to walk around the Malecon area and stopped here for a quick bite. They have a vast, colorful menu. The kind you see at the old TGI Fridays or Chilis. However, I tried order a negro modelo, they didn't have that. Oh wait, let's try the local craft beer. I hear that's always good. NOPE, they have that either. So I ordered one of those mango margaritas that's about $10 and honestly, that just tasted okay. I do feel like the menu is a bit catered towards the Americans. I mean sandwiches, burgers, and onion rings is not quite my thing when I want to eat at a local PV establishment. We did get quite a few things like onion rings (don't ask, I wasn't the one who ordered it), chorizo mozarella, fish and chips (we ordered these twice), and a whole bunch of other things I could not remember because we visited here late in March this year. I'll have to dig up some photos and re-edit this post. The bathroom is to the right, there are two unisex stalls. Kind of a make shift bathroom with no running water. It's semi clean so it's not so bad. You just have to sanitize your hands afterwards. We had a waitress who looked overwhelmed and cried when we tipped her $20 USD in cash. She deserved it, but I sure do hope she got to keep the whole thing. During our lunch, we had these street dancers stopped in the beach walkway. They were fantastic, obviously we tipped them for their finess in their steps. Overall, a decent place for a quick bite, some drinks (if you can get them), so you can recharge and keep walking along the beach. read more

This is only for drinks... I would never eat here. Ordered an electric iced tea large size it was 12.50 US for a large cup of pop with "stuff" floating inside the glass . We had ordered 2 of these and the other party thought the flooding debris was from maybe the orange slice but I disagreed drank about 2 inches of the cup and tossed the rest away and left. read more

We were wandering at Malecon area and we stomped to this restaurant for lunch. I ordered the fish fillet with rice and salad. Fish tasted so fresh and really flavourful. Daughter had coconut shrimp, mashed potatoes and salad and they tasted scrumptious as my daughter said. Hubby had a seafood burrito with wedge potatoes. It was really flavourful, all taste so fresh! So different taste back home. The price was reasonable. The only hiccup we had was their card machine was broke so I had to ran to the atm machine to get cash to pay. The service was good. We were with friends walking the Malecon on a Friday night. We were hungry and chose Day Off because there were more people eating there than other places in the vicinity. For a touristy joint, the prices were not too bad, but definitely higher than the the 45 pesos I paid the night before for 3 tacos. Husband and I had mango habanero wings, which were pretty good, on the border of almost too spicy, after the waitress said they were mild. We are in Mexico, so it's all relative and we like hot. Our friends shared a hefty mound of nachos and some traditional wings. They seemed to enjoy them. There was enough left over to take home, for both couples Music videos in the background blaring out the Stones, Queen, and other boomer bands had us playing "What that song??" They know how to catch us! Eating on the Malecon, in the restaurants, it appears the Mexican fare is geared towards the Canaduans and Amercans. Not really traditional Mexican. This isn't a bad thing, but if you want true Mexican dishes, get off the Malecon and go back a few streets. With the exception of the food vendors lined up and down, its a show and fight for the tourists. read more

Got caught here in a rainstorm- the umbrellas were dripping and pouring rain on us- but they kept serving two for one Rita's and Mojitos. And the TVs were playing an old Elvis goes Hawaii movie. Food was good, we had shrimp quesadillas with home made tortillas. Pretty tasty. read more

This bar is on the Malécon and is geared towards short term tourists and cruise ship passengers. Prices are exorbitant and it's deafeningly loud. However, the eye candy is worthy of a visit. My dear friend has a crush on one of the servers hence my two visits, haha. This is a place where you go when you can't find anything else nearby. My wife had the octopus and shrimp burrito. I had the coconut shrimp. She liked her burrito. My shrimp were flavorless and I left hungry. We had margaritas. What the margaritas lack in quality, they make up for in quantity. This seems like a non-chain TGIFridays. And I thought that puerto Vallarta thrives on tourism and repeat visits.... well this place didn't get the memo. The service is horrendous and that's with only a few tables that were taken. I can only imagine when this place is busy. Do they just run away or put a blindfold on when they get busy!? They have a huge sign that says 2 x 1 margaritas. I took a picture of it - see attached. When we asked for it, they said we had to order to food . Really , can you help me find where it says that on this banner? Also these guys have chips on their shoulder like they were forced to come to work.. we asked for cut limes four times!!! You have to be kidding me. I was talking to them in Spanish too!!! What language do they speak here ? I am sure you can find ten more places that would rather have our business. Shrimp and octopus cocktail is really good and the sampler plate is good enough to share. Great selection of cold drinks and friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much that we went back multiple times. Great bar fun fun drinks, only problem is they automatically add 15% tip, service all is good but it's just diff! Something to know.

The food is so much better that you were expected, actually better than many many restaurants in pv, drinks are one of my favorites, especially the signature drinks they make by themselves. A must if you are in downtown. read more
