Looks like some old reviews so I'll jump to add a new one. I had their buffet on Sunday to give it a shot of the different selections. Most items are mild to medium spice level. Flavor is there for sure. So many options to choose from and the samosa chat and dumpling chat was fun. My very 1st first experience with Indian food. Went with a group of coworkers who were very familiar. I chose the kebabs which I thought would be a safe dish for my first time and just about cleaned my plate. I loved looking over the menu and discovering all the new (to me) options. We catered for a wedding. Food was good, but spicier than requested. Whoever met with the venue staff a few weeks before did not communicate with the servers. Did not give them the checklist from venue, so didn't bring tablecloths and didn't know they were supposed to clean afterwards. Dinner was served almost 45 minutes late. Then they didn't bring extra serving spoons to even make 2 lines so people could get food faster and not stand in line. I emailed the restaurant and texted someone with my concerns, but no acknowledgment at all for weeks. I don't blame the staff that showed up to work, but upper management for lack of communication and not preparing the food as we requested especially on spice level. This was our first visit to this restaurant. I was skeptical because we were eating much earlier than we normally do at 5:30 and the place was empty, just opening for dinner. Ambiance... meh. To me, it felt stale. Of all the Indian places we've been, this lacked character and smiles. I really think they need to pay attention to the little things. I thought the floor was dirty, black scuffs on the walls and French fries on the floor. Their wait staff need to find another place to hang out other than in front of customers. I saw multiple people eating and just standing around. It was weird they were standing right behind us while we were eating and made it a bit awkward. Food... like others have said, too hot for spice. Even the samosa had heat to it that we were not expecting. I loved the dumplings but the sauce was too hot for the hubby. I thought samosa also had a great flavor. We asked for the goat korma to be mild and I thought it had heat, and I like the heat (unlike the hubby). The goat was chewy, did not fall off the bones and not enough meat. The saag was really good but Lordy did it give me some of the worst indigestion! Typically don't have that issue with the saag so I'm not sure what was different. Overall, I'm not sure I'd go back and give them another shot. We visited Bawarchi (again) last night. It was a busy Saturday evening and we has another WONDERFUL experience. We were quickly seated and the server did a fantastic job catering to our dietary needs. She was fast, friendly and earned a 30% tip!! My wife and I ordered an appetizer and 2 main dished. We share everything because it's all so good and nobody wants to "miss out" on the dish the other ordered. We ordered a Masala Dosa which came out first. It was really good. The dosa was crisp, the potato filling was hot and the peanut chutney and sambar were perfect "dips" for it. Next was the Karivepaku Gobi (cauliflower). It was the first time we've ordered this dish and it was so delicious! Lightly deep fried and the sauce & seasonings were perfect. Finally, the Biryani arrived! What a large portion! It was perfectly seasoned with generous amounts of veggies (carrots, potatoes and onions) with curry leaves and flavors to die for!!! ALL of this food was fresh, hot, delivered fast and with more flavorful than you could imagine! This is our FAVORITE Indian restaurant in the entire Charlotte area (It's NE in Concord). A 40 minute drive from our house but well worth it! We highly, HIGHLY recommend Bawarchi!!! I booked a live dosa counter from BAWARCHI for my Diwali party last weekend and had a deeply disappointing experience. Below is what went wrong -- avoid booking them for an event unless you want surprises and poor service. * Misleading pricing: When I first inquired two different staff members quoted $15 per person plus $15 for the dosa chef per hour. For ~40 guests that worked out to $630. The day before the event a staff member called and changed the chef fee to $100 for 2 hours -- contradicting their earlier quote and feeling like a bait-and-switch. * Late arrival & setup: We were promised the chef would arrive at 6:45pm and start serving at 7:15pm. He arrived at 7:45pm, set up, and the counter didn't start until ~8:10pm -- unacceptable for a scheduled event. * Refusal to adjust charge after cancellations: I had fewer guests than planned due to cancellations that morning. Despite their earlier per-person pricing, they insisted I pay $700 (for 40 people) and would not adjust the total. That rigidity was very poor customer service. * Food quality & variety: They promised 6-7 varieties of dosa but served only 4 types, and the sambar was watery with large chunks of overcooked vegetables and no real flavor. The dosas themselves were underwhelming. * Unprofessional behavior: The chef left in a hurry and drove at unsafe speeds through my community -- another sign of unprofessionalism. Overall this was a frustrating, expensive, and poorly executed service. The combination of inconsistent pricing, late setup, subpar food, and rude/unhelpful staff means I cannot recommend Bawarchi for catering or live counters. I will not be using them again. read more

This was my second time going to Bawarchi and the experience was great! My family and I had the Gongura Veg Biryani, Baingan Bharta, Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, and Garlic Naan. The gongura flavor was mild but the biryani was still tasty. My favorites were the malai kofta and garlic naan: the gravy was very creamy and rich and the naan was warm and buttery! TLDR: Unattententive and unwelcoming staff, long uncomfortable waits even though many staff lingering around, food was good. This was a very frustrating dinner experience. We came because the menu was so expansive. They open at 530 and we arrived before 6. It was not full at all. The previous negative reviews are right....have back ups ready bc they dont have many of the menu items. For example, they didnt have unsweet tea, sweet tea or rosemary naan. We didnt get anything too crazy, but it was a lot of food. The young waitress wasnt welcoming or too friendly. Not outright rude but after our order was placed, we didnt really see her again but were stared at by three other staff which was uncomfortable. Other staff brought the food, but one entree the Tikka Masala, took forever. No one checked in on us. The food portions were pretty huge and the food was tasty but we had to practically beg someone for utensils, the check, and to go boxes. No thank you for coming, no smiles...and we were a polite two person party that were spending a good amount of money and not causing problems. We came here for lunch and the restaurant was moderately full. Amazed at the number of dishes in the menu book, it wasn't a surprise they tell you it's not available for most of the dishes you come up with. So be prepared to keep your backup options ready. The appetizer karuvepellai chicken came in quick and was alright. But for the rest of the dishes we waited forever! The waiter didn't even come back to acknowledge the fact we were still waiting for our dishes. When we finally got our dishes, they only got 3 of the 4 orders out. The 4th last order took forever and the three of us started eating. The order never came in even after the 3 of us completed our lunches! We had to call the waiter to complain about the delay. We asked the 4th order to be cancelled! But the waiter told they would give it "complimentary" which I would argue is a total misuse of the word. No apology was offered! If you are opening a business, be prepared to handle these scenarios. As customers we understand that there would be delays but if the restaurant doesn'tacknowledged and acts as if nothing happened ,it really does get on our nerves. I usually only like the biryanis here but when we came as a family they didn't have many of the goat biryani options available. That's one thing I really don't enjoy about this restaurant- many of their menu items are not available. Our service was very poor as is usual in many Indian restaurants unfortunately. Servers rarely came to fill up water or check in on us. It took them a long time to bring our check even though we were done for a while. We had to ask them a few times to bring the check. The food was okay, definitely do NOT get the butter chicken, it's not flavorful and you can tell the cut of meat is very cheap. The chicken 555 is fairly good but the veggie biryani we ordered was just rice and raita. There was nothing else inside the biryani but the rice. The goat was good but a small portion. Its time for bawarchi to improve, as you have lot of competition now. Having live shows, more items to your menu doesnt make your business top. Add some taste to food especially Biryani (try to add equal pieces same as rice for non-veg) and taste off course improve. If I were you... expect a twist on your favorites and try their lunch thali. I've come on 2 different occasions. Dinner with the partner and a lunch special with coworkers. Both times were enjoyable if not particularly mind blowing. Dinner was good. I had a lamb biryani. Partner had his staple chicken tikka masala. We split a chiku shake and chicken 65 (dry version). The chicken 65 was good but not the same flavor that we were expecting from other places. The fry was exceptional but the pieces of chicken were fairly small. The chiku shake was a total gamble. I had no idea what it was but the waitress said she really likes it so that's all I needed to hear. I'm still not sure I've ever had the chiku fruit before, but the flavor is phenomenal. It's a bit gritty, but I kind of expected some grit with a fruit shake. No regrets and now I know I like it. It was a bit expensive but I try to not be surprised when it comes to imported fruit. The chicken tikka masala was also good, but in a different way than we typically like. I think Partner likes it very Americanized, but this version definitely had some more spices in it. He enjoyed it either way - creamy gravy and juicy chicken. The lamb biryani I'm sure was more authentic than I've had at other restaurants - truly bone in pieces, whole spices, served with raita and some unknown chutney. The red onion was a bit overwhelming but easy to avoid. But for whatever reason, it just didn't taste right. Like not enough gaminess or something. There was some bitter flavor that I couldn't really deal with. The homemade versions from my Indian coworkers were more appealing to me. The time we went for lunch was for the unlimited lunch on banana leaves. They were very accommodating for a large group (10 people) with people coming in every 5 minutes. They sat us right away even only having 3 people arrived. The plate was delicious! The dal was super creamy and savory. The pulao pile was the perfect size and tenderness. Crispy papad, bubbly poori. The goat curry was phenomenal. Gamey and so so savory. The banana leaf was a bit of an oversell - just a banana leaf for a regular thali. But I was such a happy camper by the end of this. Note: you just need to ask for more of whatever you want from the servers and they'll bring it right over from neat little carrying tins. Overall, I think the most standout thing to me was the goat curry. I would definitely come back for a big bowl of that. You might want to check first if they are having an event in the adjacent room because they were having a wedding reception next door and we had to scream at each other for the first half hour of our meal. I felt sorry for the two tables of elderly that left because of the volume. They should end their events before opening the restaurant. Where is our food? We ordered and waited an hour in the restaurant. Other people came and sat down then ordered. They got their food, where is our food? We asked to have it to go as it was already getting late. We even paid in advance to speed things along so we could get out of there. I finally got up and asked where my food is. They said wait and they would check. My waiter came back and asked if I got my food. I said no, his never bringing it should have been a dead giveaway. I was asked to sit down and wait a minute. I said no and I left. I took the cash tip with me and the signed receipt. I will ask them to refund me or dispute it with the credit card. Nobody had any idea what was going on. Our waiter neglected and avoided our table. I don't think any of this matters as they never brought out our entreas. They have no bartender, no idea how to make drinks. They made us sit on a crammed table which was not enough, even when we asked initially to give us a booth, the staff clearly denied in speculation of getting more customer, and there were more than 4 couples who were sitting on table for 4 people, while I and my wife sat on two seater table. There were many empty 4 seater tables entire time we were eating. Person who were serving us had tough time finding a place to put down our order on table. Overall bad experience, not visitng. Let me just say I'm a very lazy person but I just had to let yall know how good this food is I ordered the lamb chops and chicken hasaan we can start with the lamb chops seasoned to perfection very juicy and the green chutney lord have mercyyy so fresh amazing spice I couldn't get enough I was eating the lamb chops and watching a movie I couldn't even focus on the movie with all those flavor bursts in my mouth!! I saw Bawarchi Indial Grill and Bar was hot & new so I had to make a visit. Upon arriving to the area, you may think the address is wrong because you don't see it but trust me it's there in the back, back. There are just no neighboring businesses in the suites next door at this time. It is very spacious inside with high ceilings. I love how they have an outdoor setting, as well. We went around 8:00pm on a weekday and the tables continued to fill up quickly. The service could be better. I only saw one person hosting AND serving the whole restaurant and another person would assist here and there. I observed how this affected the speed of service for guests, as well as the delivery of food to the table. I assume they may have not intended for many guests on a weekday but one person is still not enough. The food was soooo good! Authentic at its finest. We are so thrilled that Bawarchi has opened one of their 42 locations in Concord, NC. My wife and I absolutely loved the food here. This place has become one of our favorites after just one visit. We received an excellent service by the Owner (Krishna) and attentive staff members. The chef (Suman) even came and spoke to us asking about food quality and all. Bad cleanliness. Not COVID safe..!! This place has some serious cleanliness issues. Specially with COVID in the picture, a glass of sprite was left on the table that was mixed up with our glasses of water. And unfortunately my pregnant wife took sip and realized it's not water. Completely unsafe considering we don't even know who drank from it before! I asked the waiter if I can talk to the manager and her response was apparently there is no manager on site and there is no other person on site who is responsible. Here for a conference and found this new restaurant to be amazing! My husband had the chicken korma and I had the shrimp korma: spicy, creamy goodness. An abundance of shrimp. The garlic naan was crisp and hot out of the oven. The owner is a delight and taught us a bit about the culture, which is one of the things we love about food. One guy we spoke to on phone says, "Veg Dum Biryani" is available and rudely tells us to order in person.
