Came in at 10pm, sat us in the middle of the restaurant, served us drinks and management came and told us we need to remove our beanies/hats to dine. We refused and were denied service. Food smelt good. Adding a star because the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Finished our drinks and left. I understand they're trying to make Braintree "Classy" but you're in front of the mall, should've had the restaurant on the Nordstrom side of the mall. Not sure what all the hype is about this place, sadly have gotten better food at Olive Garden. Went with the bolognese at the servers suggestion and the pasta wasn't cooked, my husband got the prosciutto pizza and there was so much fog spread on it he had to scrape it off to make it edible. Came here with my family for a belated Mother's Day dinner and it wasn't too crowded on a Wednesday night. We have been to other Davio's locations and always have a good experience, but I hadn't been to this location yet. FOOD First of all, the free bread popovers they give you to start are amazing - super light and fluffy with whipped butter. SO good. We started with the tuna tartare and crabcake apps which were both delicious - although the crabcake is very small so you should order more than one if everyone wants to try. For our meals my sister and I both got salads with grilled salmon on top. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the salads were VERY heavy on the dressing. My mom got the salmon entree and loved it. My dad went with the special which was a filet with crab meat and mashed potatoes - it looked amazing. The servings are large so we were able to take some leftovers home. DRINKS We each ordered a glass of wine which was good and the server was very knowledgeable on the wine list. SERVICE The service here is always top notch and this was no exception. Our waitress was super friendly from the minute we sat down and we actually really enjoyed chatting with her. The food all came out quickly and exactly as we ordered (even with the multiple modifications we made). AMBIANCE This location looks similar to other Davio's locations. My girlfriend and I had dinner Friday night at Davio's and we just happened to sit across from a proposal about to happen. We were asked if we could film it since we sat at such at great angle and it was definitely a night to remember! We were served by a waiter by the name of Michael Baker and let me tell you that the service was unbeatable! He was so kind and accomodating, as well as very helpful and knowledgable about the menu and how we wanted our cocktails made. We enjoyed everything from the Springroll sampler platter to the Tuna Tartare! (And not just because they were on the house, courtesy of the manager!) The Spinach, Feta Spring Rolls with Lemon Aioli, Philly Cheese Steak, and Chicken Parmesan Spring Rolls stuck out to us the most but they were all amazing and super flavorful. The Burratta w/ Prosciutto was very tasty and beautifully presented. The figs and cheese tasted fresh and delicious. We also ordered the Bolognese Tagliatelle and Lobster Risotto as our entrees, both were amazing, everything from the portions to the texture was very well made. We wish we could rate this place more than 5 stars because it's that good! I would recommend booking a reservation ahead of time, especially for Brunch or Lunch since it's super popular. Meh. We came at an odd time during a shift change and I think the service we received suffered as a result. Oh well. Water glasses sat empty after the first round, no check-ins from the bartender after meals were delivered, necessary utensils not in place and had to be requested...few minor missteps that happen, sure, but can really negatively impact a dining experience when you're spending over $100 on lunch for two. It's a frustrating experience to have a $32 plate sitting in front of you for five minutes before being able to grab the attention of an employee to request the fork and knife needed to dive in. The food was okay. Dessert came without utensils also, maybe our own fault for sticking around. Hopefully we just picked an off day to visit, I've heard good things about Davios and was disappointed with our experience. read more

We were excited to try Davio's now that it's open in our neck of the woods and we ventured out on the first Saturday night while Grandma was visiting. The restaurant looks great and other than the open kitchen you won't remember that Joe's used to be there. There are not many booths, so keep that in mind and maybe request a booth on your reservation. Our service was terrific and our waiter Kevin went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience. Everyone there was also great with our two year-old. Davio's has a nice kids menu and he enjoyed the Mac & Cheese which was elevated with hints of blue cheese. The popovers were a good start and we all shared the spring roll sampler. Each was good and it'd be hard to pick a favorite. Around the table we sample the short rib, flat iron steak, penne pasta, and sides of potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Each was very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We ended the meal with the molten chocolate cake. It was fun to have the dessert cart come over and for our son to give the yay or nay to which one he wanted. Davio's is a great addition to south shore plaza and you should check it out! read more

My friend and I are visiting from California and saw this place pop up on yelp. We jumped at it right away because my friend had a taste for steak. I enjoyed a glass of their Moscato as well as the Salmon with a side of asparagus during this dining experience. She had the steak and fries. She really liked her dish as well. The reason for the loss of a star on this review is because I am in the service industry and at my job they can't tell us enough to be all smiles and make the guests feel as comfortable as possible. Here there was a bit of a mechanical feel to the service. The server was very dry and monotone. I understand that it's a fine dining establishment but the servers could loosen up a little more (unless the company is against that). It would make for better tips and happier servers and guests. We did not have room for dessert in the end, however they had a pretty neat dessert cart that showcased all of their sweet treats. I was pretty impressed to see another server explaining each dessert in full detail. Even though this is a pretty fancy restaurant, the bill for 2 was pretty reasonable. Based on all of my points listed here I would be stopping by again whenever I'm in town. read more

5/27/18 I feel that I need to mention that I did not leave home headed to Davio's for dinner. Even though I have wanted to try it. Family came up from out of town and they wanted to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Okay, I'm down. Because our party was 13 people, the wait for a table was 2 hours. We knew it would be the case. But after and hour of walking the SSP, we all were starving. Davio's is right there and there wasn't a wait. We were seated immediately. YES! A well dressed young lady, very polite brought us to our table. We sat bar stool seating and to see my family trying to climb up on those chairs was a funny site. LOL The ambiance is lovely. The table was set beautifully. There is an open kitchen which is always great. A nice restaurant to go out for Date Night for sure. Soon, FRESH baked rolls were brought to our table. Best rolls I've had from any restaurant i've ever gone to. That's a big statement. For appetizers we ordered Spring Rolls. Chicken Parm (ok), Philly Cheese Steak (good), Buffalo (I really liked). I tasted the Mac & Cheese and I like it as well. But you may not want to eat the entire bowl. It's oily. The calamari was salty. I also tasted the Braised Beef Ribs which was so very tender. I ordered the Fusilli Shrimp. The pasta is Rotini which was surprising to see. It was tasty. I ate it all. But I should also mention to my economic reviewers that Italian restaurants, you normally have a doggie bag. Not necessarily here... And for the prices they charge....You should. Wifey and I wanted something new but local, so Davio's was perfect. Had an 8 o'clock reservation but we still ended having to wait for a table for about 20-30 minutes which rubbed me the wrong way. Granted it was Saturday night, prime time, so I get it. Cool! When we finally got seated , we were very close ( maybe a foot and half part) from the tables to our left and right. The waitress was nice, but took longer than expected with our drinks. For starters we ordered to grilled octopus which was delicious. It came with this pesto sauce that was very tasty. For my entree, I ordered the Atlantic salmon which was so good. It came on a bed of greens and a tomato and olive broth. It was money!! Wifey got the gnocchi and mushroom which she didn't love but tolerated. For dessert, we demolished the bread pudding that came with a scoop of vanilla gelato. Even though this restaurant just opened, there were none of the "hiccups" that you usually get with a brand new restaurant. Everything was executed flawlessly. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Our waiter, Nelly, was awesome- so much so, that when (not if) we go back, we will ask if we can sit in his section. He knew the menu really well and made some really great suggestions. We started with the Philly Spring Rolls. Yum. I'd go back just for those. My husband had a half portion of the Bolognese, and had the Sirloin Steak- he loved both. I had the Short Ribs with the Goat Cheese Puffs. Everything was delicious and there is nothing I would not order again. The menu is large so there are plenty of other things that we are looking forward to trying. But it's a treat to find a nice venue where the waitstaff is dressed in appropriate attire instead of black tees and jeans, and their manners were impeccable. First, they brought out really good popovers. I ordered an arugula salad which was very fresh, but could have used a bit more dressing. Then we had tortelloni in a corn-based broth. Sounds weird, but the tortelloni was outstanding. The filling was whipped ricotta--so good! It wasn't a huge serving, but after salad and a popover I was full! Unfortunately, I couldn't eat any more and had to pass on dessert, but the waitress brought us a plate of tiny chocolate chip cookies with our check. Great idea--much better than candy mints. YOUR FOOD is not worth the price... your service is DREADFUL. Had the worst expirence at this location. Sunday 12/30/18. I wanted to treat my wife and adult children to a fancey white table cloth restaurant. Since money is very tight for us this should have been a real treat. We are a brown bag family so going out to eat is huge. We looked forward to this all day. We got the restaurant at about 4 the place was empty but we had to wait 15 mins to be seated. I asked to be seated in a nicer spot then the table in the main isle way. I was told those are for later reservations. Ok maybe the place will be packed in a little bit. no problem I'm just happy to have some amazing food and be treated nice. Then waitress came and took our water order and was a little pissed that no one ordered cocktails. I was feeling a little ackward so I order the pear cocktail special $14 buck for a high ball glass. Then she was like a used car salesperson trying to force to get more than 1 app. We ordered the Ruben Egg rolls to share, Save your money, the frozen isle in the super market has better and they are not swimming in a gallon of thousand island dressing. I kinda got the feel she was pissed at us. 4 people 1 cocktail 1 app. I could swear she was mocking us. but we move on and continue to smile. being with my family is the most important thing. Then for the mess. $27 steak that was ordered "cool pink center" came out looking like shoe leather. Pasta over cooked. After the 45 min wait I just ate it and thought to myself how can this place be in business?? Wedge salad took 20 mins to come out of the kitchen $14.00 for 3 little pieces of iceberg and bacon bits that were raw, the waitress excuse was sorry it too so long they had to cut the lettuce and onion... Ummm did you expect to serve no salads Sunday... The only good thing we at was the asparagus. So disappointing! $159 bucks for table of 4 and I left a $25 tip on top. The server saw us 2 times and she could not be bothered. I'm sorry we weren't in Brooks Brothers suites or had a Rolex on. My wife and I work hard for our money and we pay 100% for everything we have. We may look like we are on welfare but we have money. I so wish I could go back and speak to the Manager. I loved coming in and seeing the hostess and the manager with Pictures on their clothes so we can see their faces despite the masks of COVID! I loved that detail and it made me feel like I could actually see their smiles. My family and I dined at Davios in Braintree on Saturday, April 29th w/ a reservation shortly after 5pm. The food was absolutely delish! The service was stupendous. While I'm not used to fine dining, white tablecloths, 6 pieces of silverware, and 3 different glasses to choose from, this is something I could enjoy a few times a year. Mom and I had specials, my bro had a fish meal, and I can't recall what Dad had but I'm sure it was some app-type of combo. The dessert cart had all 4 of us salivating. We ordered 3 desserts to share - all yummy! We were celebrating a special anniversary for my parents and they fancied up the dessert plate and wrote "Happy Anniversary" on it. Awesome! Service was spectacular. Almost everyone has some sort of food sensitivity and we were treated with the utmost respect. Wish I could afford to eat here on a regular basis. The service was absolutely excellent every person that approached our table , from the server, the food runner, clear plates, the server was so nice to my son as well. My boyfriend and I were shopping and decided to stop in for a drink and a bite to eat! When we walked in the atmosphere was warm and inviting! We sat down at the bar hoping to watch the patriots game but there was only one tv on one side of the bar the side every one was sitting on!we did end up moving when the bar emptied to see the end of the game. The service was just ok! The young girl who waited on us was down the other end of the bar talking to some friends thank god there were 2 other bartenders there to serve us !
