My visit was a good one. I found the atmosphere and decor pleasing; not snobbishly upscale nor corporate cheesy. We were sat within a minute of walking in on a Saturday afternoon, and within a minute of that greeted by our server. Very friendly, personable woman. We ordered our drinks and they made it to the table in about five minutes. Points to her for asking rather than assuming we were ready to order at this point, because we weren't. She came back in a reasonable amount of time and we ordered:steak ravioli, seafood pomodoro, and the salad&pizza on special. The pizza was supposed to come with jalapenos, but my mother lacks strong taste buds and sans'ed the peppers. 5-20 minutes and our two side salads and my mother's entree-sized salad comes out with the garlic knots. Side salads were unremarkable, as they tend to be, but were a little on the skimpy side in terms of non green veg and could have used a good toss. Points deducted for dry, seemingly old garlic knots that lacked, well, garlic. The entree salad was given two thumbs up. Within maybe 15-20 minutes, the waitress came over and explained that the cook hadn't seen the request for no jalapenos and wanted to know if my mother would okay the cook taking them off or if she wished to have them fire up another, and she agreed to just have them taken off the pizza. My mother is a spice wimp and should of had one re-fired, so any "my tongue is on fire!!" comments were pretty much disregarded by us. She still enjoyed it and took the rest home for leftovers. My father's pasta had a generous amount of seafood and my ravioli were pleasantly plump, no complaints at all. In my opinion as a former hostess/server, our server was over sat just before we got our salads, and this is where our experience dipped a little. My parents were sips away from being wine-less and our server had a eight-top who had just received their drinks and were now playing 50 questions with her, in addition to another table that had been sat and hadn't ordered yet. We pulled a server pet-peeve and got a water from another server so my mom would survive her phantom jalapeno burns. After our waitress took the 8 top's order, put it in, took the other table's order, and put that in, we asked her for another glass of wine and a water. Sauces that were "essential" for a certain dessert were 86ed, so she suggested a free substitution, which I appreciated. Overall, good experience. Our server is the only reason I put four stars instead of three. Staff makes or breaks a place! read more

My experience was mixed as we entered the restaurant thru the pickup area for Pizzas. It looked a bit run down and cheesy, in a bad way. As we entered the dining room upstairs the staff was nice and helpful seating us. The place as comfortable and "Typical Italian" pizza joint from 1990's. The food was ok. We had a salad, meatball grinders and spaghetti. All were good, but not great. Nothing was outstanding in my mind but the service was very good. read more

There are not a lot of restaurants in Lewiston Maine there are certainly no five star restaurants in this town some people believe a restaurant is five star but that's because it's Lewiston and they've never really been anywhere else now my latest experience at DaVinci's I've been going there on and off for many years and it used to be a home run every time but this is the third bomb in a row it started with the restaurant was empty it was 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday they trying to seat us way out back right next to the bathrooms the table was pushed to the wall and there was a strong chemical smell like cleaning fluid we asked to be placed in the dining room the booth they sat us in was extremely narrow meaning stomach touching the table and could not be moved I had chicken saltimbocca the salad was fresh but it is served on a very shallow plate and they are very large chunks making it almost impossible to eat without it spilling onto the table now for the entree I think I will be lucky if I don't come down with intestinal distress I could not eat the chicken portion because it tasted bad I don't know if it was precooked chicken but you just can't make chicken that tough in a frying pan when it's cooked from fresh the dish had a very earthy flavor to it like unwashed mushrooms and there was a glob of cheese that I thought was an egg white dinner for two cost us just under $50 without alcohol now put a $10 tip on that $60 is a pretty hefty bill for Lewiston Maine when you consider there were no drinks involved as far as Decor is concerned the exposed beam and brick thing is over 1980 was a long time ago it's too bad because this had the potential to be an awesome place but three strikes with them and I'm out you'll have much better luck at Marcos it's about 20% cheaper and I've never had chicken there that I had to check my supply of TP when I get home all there was one more thing I forgot to mention the drain flies we had tiny little black drain flies landing on our food I'm going to have to go with disgusting on that a little bleach down the drain at night folks that takes care of that read more

A solid but predictable Italian menu. Garlic knots were decent as were the entres. I was ready to give this place three stars and move on and then dessert arrived. The canoli was the best I have had outside of Boston. Also tried the tiramisu and found it very good. I would come back if only for dessert. read more

It was a top-notch lunch pizza buffet! The pizza was really good but what really impressed me was the salad bar and the soup. Most places would give you decent pizza but mail it in on the soup and salad but they deliver quality all around. I was amazed by how good the butternut squash soup was. I've been here quite often. It's never the same experience two times in a row. Service is inconsistent as is the quality of the food. For example, the risotto dish was soup-y one night, then an actual risotto on another night. The only thing that is consistent is the garlic knots--which I suspect may not be homemade--but I could be wrong. I wouldn't rave about the food, but I do enjoy when they change the menu up. It's a staple Italian restaurant to take newcomers in Lewiston-Auburn, and it's decent fare. Don't pass up the garlic knots and wedding soup. read more

While the food here is both delicious and satisfying, the portion sizes are huge. With your gigantic meal, you'll also be consuming AMAZING rolls, soup/salad, and perhaps a decadent dessert. I have been coming to this place for many years now. Their food is good but service I am upset with. So the last two time I have ordered curb side pick up. I pull up the 1st having paid online an the lady comes out saying I have to go in. Doesn't make any sense, so I figured maybe because I didn't pay w cash. Most places come out for curb side get your payment no matter what it is and go back in an get your food. The point of curb side is to have your food brought to you as for health reasons you can't go in. I have the health reasons, as to why I use curb side pick up. Well this time I'm informed that only paid ordered get brought out but that's not true because I did that last time and had to go in. Short staffed, wait the lady could come out to tell me to go in? That makes no sense either. So either stop offering it or put the terms some where so we can decide if that's what we want to deal w. I am sick an it's my husband's be today. I can't get out an walk very good an I was trying to get a nice meal but that didn't happen. I doubt I'll be going back. read more

I was not always a fan of Davinci's, but ever since they relocated something has changed for the better. Their food seems to be better quality. The atmosphere is very charming. A great family or large gathering venue. In the summer it is very nice to sit out on the patio. I wouldn't call them authentic Italian by any stretch of the imagination but they are a good American-Italian eatery. I really enjoy their ravioli and my husband loves their dirty peas and pasta. The garlic knots are yummy too. They have certainly upgraded with their upgraded location. One of the better casual restaurants in the L-A area. read more

I dined here for the first time yesterday and was not impressed. The garlic knots were undercooked and doughy. The dipping oil virtually tasteless, certainly not extra virgin olive oil by a long shot, most likely a cheaper mix of vegetable oil and olive oil, or just low grade olive oil. I ordered Farro salad, thinking Farro was a cute name for what appeared to be Greek style salad, since it was not listed among the actual ingredients of the salad. Much to my chagrin, I found Farro to be a large mound of tasteless wheat berries (or spelt) tossed with a couple of tablespoons of feta, a handful of arugula and several grape tomatoes sliced in half, three or four sliced olives and a few pieces of cucumber. I left the tasteless pile of wheat berries on my plate. I suppose this kind of stuff appeals to fad driven foodies, sort of like the ridiculously high priced baked potato skins and inedible undercooked fiddleheads and artichokes did a few decades ago. Perhaps Farro would be good if prepared differently, I don't know. The waitress appeared to have some type of anxiety issues, causing her body to spasm and peep out her words in a weird high pitched tone. She would seesaw between some semblance of normalcy, then back to peeping, it was uncomfortable to watch. I have nothing against hiring people with disabilities, but it would be nice to know that is what to expect. I did ask her if the Farro was a form of wheat, she insisted it was not..it was a special Italian grain. I didn't push it, she obviously had no clue. She also neglected to bring sweetener for my friends iced tea when asked. We had to flag down another waitress. The meals my companions had looked good, eggplant parmesan with angel hair. My friend said she preferred her own homemade preparation of eggplant parmesan, but the angel hair was good and fresh tasting. My other friend had a salad with grilled shrimp that she enjoyed. read more

A great place for a formal dinner, casual lunch and everything in between! The food is excellent and they have a good selection of wine as well as beer and cocktails. The ambiance is one of my favorite parts about DaVinci's; it feels cozy and comforting and is truly beautiful. The reason I'm giving it only 4 stars is because of my experience with the waitstaff. I usually get a snarky waitress (not the same ones) who acts like the last thing in the world they want to be doing is waiting on my table. But, I put up with it since I really just go there for the food anyway - it is worth the snarky service. read more

On October 26 I dined and had mussels and Salmon. I then got extremely sick at the restaurant. I couldn't make it out to the car and got sick in their hallway. The staff was so crass and uncaring and called out to my sister in law "aren't you going to clean up the mess". They then called the police. I should have sued them immediately for food poisoning. I'm an adult male and I never get sick. I had just one beer so it was obvious I wasn't drunk but sick from there food. read more

I have been coming here every time I visit my dad from California. It has been one of my favorite pizza joints in Maine. Tonight we had the Grecian Pizza as always. The one exception was that they had removed it from the menu this time. My advice, choose pizzas from the current menu. I liked it but my dad thought that it could have been cooked a little longer. The bread rolls are still fantastic and a real selling point. The dog fish beer was a bargain at $6 for a 22oz glass. I go to school in Lewiston and it's a special treat to go to Davincis when my parents are in town. Free and unlimited garlic knots that are the best we've ever had. I usually order the Brick &a Brie pizza (my absolute favorite pizza ever), but tried the Veal Saltimbocca last time which was incredible. Fantastic service as well! read more

My family eats at this restaurant because it is probably one of only three nicest places in Lewiston/Auburn to take guests. The service is good and you do receive a good portion for what you pay for....however.... 1. Noise: The building is a remodeled factory with very tall ceilings with adds to the excessive noise once you get a crowd of people inside. The excess noise subtracts from the meal. 2. Frozen Food Pre-made: It seems that this restaurant uses pre-made breaded veal/chicken/etc patties in which they thaw out..coat with tomato sauce and cheese--place into a broiler for 3 mins and throw some pasta on the side and voila --a meal! I notice a big difference in taste between the other Italian restaurants located in Portland Maine where they use fresh meat cooked up per order... All in all....thats my opinion.. =) read more

Love the buffet...lunch and dinner (though lunch and dinner buffets are the same, the price is more for dinner). I am a salad bar enthusiast so my meal is mainly a cup of soup--always good, no matter what kind--and an adventure at the salad bar. My husband has a half bowl of soup if it appeals to him, small salad, and hones right in on the pizza. The dessert pizza is always wonderful. Any offering of the day always becomes my new favorite. We have also dined her on other-that-buffet excursions. Some variation occurs in preparation and in service, but nothing is "bad." And the galic knots, even when not piping hot from the oven, are wonderful. Cannot describe the experience when they are piping hot from the oven! We have experienced very slow service on a couple visits, but we have also had some of the finest, most efficient, and most personable servers in the business. I checked "Good for kids" --and it is when not real busy. I would say, given the long waits we have experienced on occasion, that it's good to check the crowd before taking kids at night. Staff will, however, work to keep kids happy! read more

Last week I made a lunch reservation for 10 people to celebrate a bride-to-be. I was told that was fine, lunch reservations were accepted, and gave my name and phone number. This week I called to increase it to 15 people and was told no problem. We got to the restaurant and they told us we could only sit 8 to a table (and the 2 month old and 14 month old counted in the number) and we could not mingle between tables. I was NOT told this on the phone either time I spoke with your employees or I would have booked elsewhere, where we could all sit together and celebrate. Especially since we all see each other regularly. Then I was standing busy and tending to my infant daughter and someone rudely told me to put a mask on. Not sure how that is any different than the people I was next to at the table without masks. Especially since we were in the back and not next to any other customers! To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I have always spoken highly of your restaurant as it has always provided amazing food and customer service and today this was not the case. To add to our frustration while we were there, there was cakes being delivered to the back room. So how would it be different for those people I wonder? They would obviously be mingling back there. Going forward you should educate your staff to inform future customers that are making reservations that their party will not be able to sit together or speak to guests at another table. read more

Our dear friend showed us this place a bit ago and we were instantly hooked...now 3 trips later. Each bite is so amazing, probably not ethentic; but closer than most. The dish names are fun to say, the descriptions are spelled out and explained, which makes easy ordering. You will want to come back! The portions are very generous and the prices are very fair. Not sure what happened today, but I had a Chicken pesto sandwich worthy of a Gordon Ramsay TV show (the before version). The bread was soggy, the chicken luke warm, the cheese congealed, as if it had been heated a long time ago then left to cool on a counter, the bacon half-cooked. My best guess is that it had been made 45 minutes before by mistake, then left on a shelf until someone ordered one, and then served. They didn't even have the decency (?) to stick it in the microwave to make sure it was hot, let alone warm. At least it didn't make me ill. Not only not made to order, but-pre made, then ignored, then served. Burger King has better quality control. Oh, and the french fries were soggy. Been there before; definitely not going back. read more

I'd been waiting for a long time to eat here. We don't live in the area so it's been a long time coming. The lunch portion was small. Red peppers in a Caesar salad - who does that? Husband got the chicken Parmesan and the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. My dish was bland. My son ordered the shrimp scampi and the shrimp were jumbo and good tasting but he said there was too much going on in the dish. I was just disappointed overall.
