    I'm in two wedding parties this year and have been in five in previous years so I have quite a bit of experience in going to wedding dress fittings. David's Bridal is a chain, which comes with some benefits as it's a huge shop which means huge selection. They also have a ton of dresses on sale and even a rack full of $200 dresses! That's just insane to me. I went to the Lombard location this past weekend with one of my bride-to-be best friends and actually had a good experience. I'm used to snobby workers from their other locations but we had a girl that was very patient and helpful with us. She listened to everything my friend said she liked and disliked about each dress, trying her darnedest to find her something that would work. The girl in the front checking people in did have some of that fun David's Bridal snootiness I'm accustomed to though. My friend had many photographs of dresses - she's looking for a Grecian looking, drappy type of dress. Her wedding is in Mexico on the beach so makes sense. Sadly, this huge location packed full of dresses didn't have a single dress in this style. I don't even know how that's possible. Overall it seemed like the majority of the dresses didn't err on the simplistic side...and personally, I'm not into all that bajeweling badazzeling razzle dazzle poofiness. Also, our lady helping us was very nice & sweet...but they assign one girl to help two brides for the same 90 minute slot! We just couldn't have her full attention. And because of that my friend would often just wait in the changing room....waiting...and one time called out for me because she was bored in there waiting. They really should only assign one consultant to each bride for a more personal experience. Having to constantly wait really dragged things out. And sometimes she would say to my friend, so what do you like about this dress? As my friend would look in the mirror taking a few seconds to formulate an answer, the other bride she was helping would start talking to get the consultant's attention. Oy. Honestly, the smaller boutiques are a bit pricier but the level of service far surpasses these big box stores. Plus smaller shops give you mimosas/champagne! That alone sells me. :P If you must go to David's Bridal, this location is your best bet.

    Kylie did such a wonderful job of finding the perfect dress for my wedding! She was so accommodating regarding my budget and style, very professional, and a really lovely person. I had prepared about 5 models numbers for the dresses I had viewed online, so she had something to work with. I got there exactly at 5pm and left around 6:10pm on a Thursday evening. From the get go, she explained everything to me very thoroughly (with it being my first wedding and all), and she got my style down within the first five minutes! I was pretty impressed. I would highly recommend this David's Bridal and encourage any worrisome bride to find Kylie as she absolutely will be your perfect guide to the perfect dress. I ordered my dress this morning and was told I'd be able to pick up my dress and shoes on March 9th! Looking forward to visiting Kylie and the store again for my bridesmaids :)

    I would save your time and energy from this place! I struggled to order a tiara, let alone a…read morewedding dress!! I visited the Schaumburg location in May and also liked a tiara at that time. I was told to come in again for the tiara. I asked the associate about coming in again for the tiara because I lived kind of far and let her know this. She did not mention to me that they were moving locations a WEEK later! I called a week later to say that I'd like to come in to pick up the tiara (they sold the last one), but then they added that they are moving locations to Lombard and are pretty much packed up. This was unprofessional from the beginning since they could have mentioned this and saved my time and commute! I then was made aware that I could order the tiara through the phone and have it shipped to me since I told the associate that I live even FURTHER from Lombard. The tiara was ordered and no comments were made about picking up the tiara in store. They put my address on the invoice and told me it would be shipped to me. They added a shipping fee to my transaction. I called for weeks for a status update, but no one would try to help. THEN, they told me that another shipping fee would be added in addition to ship it to my house, otherwise I would have to come in the store to pick up the tiara. Every associate that I spoke with on the phone was rude and would not relay the message to a manager! I've been calling and asking to speak with the manager for MONTHS! Two emails were sent, still waiting for a reply on the second one. The first email was sent mid-August and a reply was given a MONTH LATER! The manager still didn't address added charges, poor customer service, and all the other issues I've been inquiring about. I'm still waiting to hear back from the non-existent manager about all this, as well as the tiara that was told to ship out at the MOST 6 weeks. It's been well over 3 months now. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and sad that they are providing this kind of customer service to brides who are trying to enjoy this special time in their life! Seems like they take pleasure in stressing people out after reading all these other reviews!

    Absolutely awful. Do not trust House of Brides in Lombard…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands-down one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I strongly urge you to avoid House of Brides in Lombard, no matter how many positive reviews you may read -- let me walk you through my experience. I visited the store in December 2024 and was initially pleased. Lucy helped me find my dress and was kind and communicative. She gave me the store's number to stay in touch and assured me the dress would be ready by mid-May 2025. But when mid-May came and went with no update, I had to reach out myself. I was told the dress was "still in production and would be shipped in the next two weeks." Two weeks passed. Still nothing. I called during business hours -- straight to voicemail. I left a message. No response. Now we were in early June, and I was still completely in the dark. With my wedding in early August, I was understandably growing anxious. I followed up with Lucy again mid-June. She repeated the exact same message -- word for word -- from a month earlier: that the dress was still in production and would be shipped in two weeks. At that point, I knew I was being misled. By the end of June, still no update. I went to the store in person. Maria first told me they had no idea where the dress was and that it was "out of their hands." But when I pressed, she checked the system and told us the dress was in Texas -- so clearly they did have some idea, they just didn't want to take responsibility. Throughout this entire process, not once did Lucy, Maria, or Ava (the store manager) apologize for the delays, misinformation, or complete lack of accountability. The dress finally arrived in mid-July -- two full months late. When I showed up for my first alteration appointment (which we had confirmed by phone), the dress wasn't prepped or steamed. They had the date written down wrong and were unprepared. To make matters worse, I was sold the wrong straps for my dress -- straps I had already paid for. This meant the seamstress had to spend extra time reshaping them just to make them work. Instead of the expected three alterations, we had to go in five times in one month because of repeated errors and delays -- none of which were ever acknowledged with a genuine apology. The only bright spot was Toni, the seamstress. She was kind, skilled, and professional -- a total lifesaver. If you do end up here, I sincerely hope you work with her. Thanks to Toni, the dress will be done in time. But I've been a nervous wreck for nearly three months, and this experience stole so much of the joy and excitement that should have come with my wedding dress. Bottom line: I would never, ever recommend House of Brides in Lombard.

Well, not just any wedding planner - you really should consider and call Tying the Knot. I'll admit it, when I was first engaged, I was skeptical about having a wedding planner. I thought, "what can they really help me with? I love to plan, I've figured it all out." MEH, Wrong. Turned out - having Brooke around really helped us with staying on track, planning and the overall timing of everything we needed to do. Everyone at Tying the Knot is very helpful and knowledgeable. I never felt like I was bothering them with any of my 1001 questions I may have had (or more). Getting married and all of the planning is a really big deal and it takes a lot of planning that most people don't have the time for. Consider the value of your time and invest that to some great wedding planners at Tying the Knot. You might go "hmm...do I need this" at first but when it's all said and done...and everything went smoothly...you'll be happy you went the route of a wedding planner.

    This was the worst retail experience I've had. Things I wish I knew: they do not have any dresses…read morein stock, so there's really no point to go to the store. Your appointment is to get your measurements, but you can get that done anywhere. I was offered to try on a "similar dress" but it wasn't even the same fabric, style or color. It was a completely different dress 10 sizes too large. They didn't have any of 14 dress options that were selected by the bride. I was not communicated that it will take 3 months for the dress to be delivered. When I ordered the dress in person in the store, I was not communicated that my dress will not get in time. I had to follow up about the status of my delivery to find out that this dress is being shipped 2 weeks before the wedding date. There's no expedited shipping option. When I asked why nobody brought this to my attention (since this is a big problem), the staff was surprised by my frustration. According to Bella Bridesmaids the dress is expected to deliver the week of the wedding, so they have fulfilled the order expectations. This place doesn't offer alterations and by the time my dress arrives I won't have time to alter it at all. They also refuse to provide refund or take any responsibility for failing to provide proper customer service. Now I have to buy a second dress elsewhere, pay for expedited shipping and I'm $300 out for the dress that will get here the week of the wedding. Just overall extremely disappointed with the lack of care and rather transactional service. Just a very poor way of running a business.

Thats how my husband and I have felt since our 5.18.2019 wedding! From the moment I met Amy I knew she was our wedding planner. After talking to almost every wedding planner in the greater chicagoland area I thought Amy is just too good to be true. So in true OCD crazy bride fashion I asked for references and previous brides to talk to about their experience. Amy did not even blink or make me feel totally insane which is a quality every bride should look for in a wedding planner. We thankfully chose the full planning package, because we were planning our Chicago wedding from across the country. Amy responded to every midnight email, every pacific coast phone call and never made us feel like we were alone. She kept us on budget and when we were going over budget she wasn't afraid to bring us back to reality. Amy negotiated all of our vendors and got us the best deals, I cannot stress this enough! Before Amy we were getting quoted 2-3x the costs, and for brides who hate to negotiate she was a God send. Amys wedding day timeline is better than any book or planning binder you can find, she really knows what she's talking about with a month to month breakdown that becomes like your checklist and makes sure to keep your wedding day timeline on track. Leading up to the wedding she was there to lead our rehearsal, take all of our "extra" last minute buys to incorporate into the decor, and she happily took the role of "bad guy" to nix any unwanted suggestions from our adoring family. She brought our dream wedding to life, flawlessly. She is the definition of a fairy wedding planner! If you are even considering her wedding planning service book now, I have no doubt in my mind that she will be the most highly sought after wedding planner. To this day we have family and friends that our wedding was the funnest wedding they have ever attended. We honestly owe those compliments to Amy and her meticulous planning and attention to detail. From one OCD bride to another book now you will be forever grateful that you did. Thank you Amy & team from the bottom of our hearts we will never be able to express how amazing you are!
