I checked on the website to see their hours and it was till 9 o'clock after driving an hour and a half to get here. I stopped at Sheetz nearby for gas, etc. first....When I entered in David's Bridal they informed me that they were closing at 7:30, which it now was. I asked if I could come in and just get a pair of shoes I knew what I wanted, I had driven 1 & 1/2 hrs to which they responded no the registers are all closed., I explained their website said 9 o'clock, which made no difference and they suggested I go to Boscov's and Ross they had many nice shoes. I wanted a pair from David's Bridal as that's where I bought my mother of the bride dress and they had shoes in the same rose gold color. Needless to say very unhappy and won't be coming back whether I find shoes in Boscov's or not who by the way are open till nine. read more

This was the first place we stopped for wedding dress shopping! Even though we knew it was unlikely I would buy a dress that day (with more appointments to get to), everyone was so friendly and accommodating and they made sure I had a great first experience! My stylist was Becca, and she was training someone new. They were both SO nice, friendly, and knowledgeable! Becca was professional and helpful in getting my dresses on and off, and they were both so patient with my Mom & Grandma, who attended the appointment with me. I ended up finding a dress elsewhere, but this was such a great experience, so I highly recommend a stop here if you're in the area looking for a dress. Poor quality! Don't waste your money! TERRIBLE customer service. Purchased a prom dress in store. My daughter put on the dress 3 times once in store then at home then on event day. While she was at the prom the clasp that was holding the shoulder strap broke. Ruined the night. She could not dance due to fear the dress falling without the strap. When I called the store the next day they did not care. They said that just happens to clothing sometimes. So, if you are going to shop here make sure you pack a sewing kit to take with as the dress may not hold up for your big day read more

The staff at this store today, Ashlyn a manager and Olivia a sales person, were FANTASTIC! I am looking for a dress for my granddaughter's wedding in June and will DEFINITELY be in to buy one. I tried on 3 and LOVE THE OLEG CASSINI one, but was a little short on funds. They explained Affirm and were so nice and honest about which one looked the best. Highly recommend this store. For now, I bought the Jewelry to go to the wedding with, but will definitely be back to browse some more. You cannot go wrong here and the prices are MORE than reasonable, which is almost unheard of currently. And when my husband and we renew our vows, I am going to buy a real wedding dress here as I have not had one. Good work to Ashlyn and Olivia! Yet another stop on the recent bridal train. Yes, this is a chain type of place, but it seems that when it comes to bridal there isn't really much to pick from out there. During the family outing recently I reluctantly came in here. First and foremost, I was bored the whole time in here. Looking at dresses obviously isn't what I'm up for. I basically sat in here, playing on my phone and gave words of encouragement every so often. There are a ton of dresses to look through. My sisters and niece loved this, me not so much. It just meant more time in here that I have no idea what is going on. Employees were great. They were ready to help out at any moment. The store was nicely set up and clean as can be. I wanted to write this earlier but I am a procrastinator by nature. I went to David's Bridal in Altoona on August 29, 2022 to look for a mother of the groom dress for an October 15th wedding. I did not realize the effort entailed in looking for that kind of dress in such a short time frame. I was greeted immediately with kind and courteous store employees. The young lady who helped me decide on a dress was Becca. She was so patient and understanding. She seemed to be very knowledgeable and I trusted her opinions. The staff including Riley, Abigail and others who I didn't get their names, made this a pleasant experience. The seamstress who fitted me for my dress was Diana who was so sweet and personable. In my opinion, the David's Bridal corporation is truly blessed to have such thoughtful and kind associates. I'll never forget your supportive and caring attitudes. This is a wonderful David's Bridal to help handle your big day needs! I actually bought my dress at a David's Bridal on the west coast (my home), but needed to get it altered before the wedding day. The team at this David's Bridal helped get me fitted properly and did such a wonderful job with the alterations. When I came back to try it on and pick it up, there was one little adjustment that needed to be done. They were able to get that done on the same day for me so I didn't have to wait. Because I'm getting married on the west coast, I was concerned about transporting it by plane. Their staff helped me ship it to an address in California where I would feel comfortable keeping it until my wedding day. Overall, this was a great experience. I had a really positive experience at this David's Bridal. Though the store was crowded with brides and prom-goers, I was given personal attention by my consultant. I felt listened to regarding my price range and style. I tried on 3-4 dresses (after a long day of dress shopping, I finally (thought) I knew what I was looking for. She challenged me with a dress I originally said no to on the racks, but said yes to after it was on! The dress also came in way under budget thanks to the semi-annual $99 sale. The alterations consultant also spent a lot of time with me and was helpful by allowing me to see the full silhouette by pinning everything to fit properly, and showing me how the dress would look when it is bustled. I also appreciate that they have an opportunity to care for your dress after the big day with the mail-in dress preservation kit. This is something I opted to buy, snagging another deal by purchasing it on the same day as my gown. I found the rest of the staff pleasant (even if they were rushed with walk-ins), and the experience positive. The staff at Altoona David's bridal were awesome. I made a Sunday noon-time appointment and went with my family and bridesmaids. After 3 dresses my consultant was able to narrow down what I liked/disliked about each and made a suggestion that turned out to be THE DRESS!! Rachel was attentive and knowledgeable about which dresses were in stock/available to try on and the manager of the store even came to shake my hand and congratulate me when I made my decision! Even though we only planned to look for my dress, my mom and future mother in law were also able to try on dresses for the wedding and both picked out and bought dresses as well! It was pleasant being able to try on dresses next to other brides as well--the store atmosphere was welcoming and not at all stressful. I had a fantastic experience at David's Bridal in Altoona. I was in search of a wedding dress when I came to my appointment. I left with a wedding dress, a veil, some accessories for my dress, 4 bridesmaid dresses, and lots of awesome memories. It was a super successful trip and totally exceeded my expectations. I am not a bride-to-be who had everything in order and every detail planned out. I had a picture of ONE dress that I loved, and wasn't very clear (even with myself) about a realistic budget. None of that mattered as I was guided - very well - throughout the entirety of my appointment. Angela H., my David's Bridal stylist, was AMAZING. Angela H. was kind, calm, and clearly very experienced. I truly felt that she wanted me to be 100% happy and satisfied. She was open and honest with me, and wanted me to reciprocate - and I very much so appreciated that. I came to my appointment with a large group (which I was advised against from many of my already-married friends). Angela was like the liaison between myself and my family - she kept the focus on finding me a beautiful gown, made sure MY opinion was not drowned out by everyone else's opinion, and kept the appointment running smoothly. I never once felt rushed, and I also never felt like I was waiting on her or not getting enough attention/assistance. Most importantly, I truly feel that Angela H.'s guidance is how I found THE dress. She listened to me, found additional dresses for me to try on based on my likes/dislikes, and talked me through how I might actually know which dress was the one for me. She was a huge factor in the awesome experience I had at David's Bridal in Altoona. Several other stylists throughout my appointment voiced their compliments and opinions as they walked around and helped other customers - which was comforting and actually very helpful as I narrowed down my search. I felt that the atmosphere was very friendly, open, and comfortable. I was very happy with the selection of dresses, price range available to me, and the amount of accessories I had to choose from and experiment with. I never anticipated to get so many big items purchased and taken care of in one appointment. I also want to say that I never felt obligated to purchase anything I wasn't totally in love with and never felt like the staff were being "salesy" or trying to make a sale. I absolutely loved my experience at David's Bridal. I'm getting married this Saturday, so I've had to go there a few times (picking a dress for me and bridesmaids, picking them up, alterations appointment, and final fitting). I live an hour away, and they were always very kind and helpful. Everything about my experience was great. I wear a size 24 and I was worried about having to pick from a small selection, but they had plenty of dresses. I was very pleased with their options. The woman who helped me pick the dresses out was very insightful along the way. She told me that some dresses look great on the hanger, but not tried on, and vice versa. And she was right! The dress that I thought was kinda ugly on the hanger ended up being the dress I fell in love with! The women in alterations were very friendly and supportive as well. They took their time with me and talked me through everything. I'll admit I was kinda shocked at the price of the alterations, but honestly, I can't complain because their prices on the dresses were unbeatable. I have to make a shout out to Melanie. I had a bridesmaid go crazy on me, and I probably called DB like 5 times that day and Melanie was very professional and answered every question and concern I had. You deserve a medal, girl! I had my matron of honor and junior bridesmaids with me as well as my mom and future mother in law we got zero help other than me trying in two dresses. My mom helped me with a third. Harrisburg DB: the first time I tried on dresses for my wedding...it was an average experience. The sales lady (forget name) was helpful but not pushy at all, although their staff lacked professionalism when it comes to how you talk to customers/what you say, at least compared to other HBG bridal shops. I honestly wasn't crazy about any of the 6-8 dresses I tried on that first trip to David's...if I liked the style, it wouldn't be available in my size to try on (of course- my luck) so more often than not, I had to try on size 20, 22, 26 and pin the gown which TOTALLY did not give me a true idea of what it would look like (I am a 12)...I just can't fathom paying over $1,000 for a dress that I have to "visualize" fitting in my mind's eye. I tried on so many dresses from a few shops in my area (Alfred Angelo, Cocoa Couture, David's Bridal, etc.) and out of the 20-30 dresses I tried and the 100s I looked at online & in magazines, I found ONE dress I really liked at Alfred Angelo but didn't feel the whole "it's the one!" feeling like I think you should when you find your perfect dress. Even though the AA staff were much more helpful, polite, and courteous, I didn't settle on that one gown because my instinct urged me not to. Thank goodness I didn't.... After visiting DB (HBG) to pick up my daughter's Flower Girl gown, I noticed a beautiful gown in the window from their new designer line. I asked to try it on and whether or not it was available to try around a size 12, and it turned out the display dress WAS a 12! It fit perfectly so I ordered that size in my color and was told the only alterations I may need was replacing the zipper back with a corset lace-up back. This would allow me to adjust the size if I happen to lose/gain weight. I was called to come pick it up or they ship it after so many days/weeks. I was in the process of moving into a new home so I didn't want that- I went to pick it up and explain my moving situation, and I was told to try it on right there (which I wasn't expecting) and waited a long time to be fitted. If I'd have known you should make an appointment to pick up, I would have done so beforehand. I wasn't aware since I already knew the size would fit and the alterations I wanted. It fit (as I knew already) and I ordered the alterations as I originally planned. When my dress was done, I received a voice message to call and pick up within a week. I figured this was a time I would want an appointment to make sure the alterations were correct so before I picked up my dress, I called to ensure I would have a set appointment time to arrange for my mother to be there (to see my dress and actually keep an eye on my daughter while I am trying on). The lady on the line didn't understand me clearly, and I had the same issue so both of us were losing patience as I tried to explain I didn't need an alteration appointment- I just wanted to schedule a pick up time for final fitting if that's necessary. After trying to explain what I wanted to do, I was put on hold and eventually contacted back by the front desk. Apparently, there are only two days per week you can set a date/time to pick up your gown...i expressed They gave me late morning and early afternoon times to pick up, but I work so none of those times worked and the only available evening appointments were late on Wednesday or Friday (after expressing my concern that I work until 4:30, and I wanted my mother to be present since she is from out-of-town and would be leaving early Wednesday evening). Again, they gave me a Wednesday appointment at 7:30, which wouldn't work so instead of trying to explain the situation for the 4th or 5th time, I avoided further frustration by saying I'll just stop by to take the dress home and do my own final fitting there). Let's hope this goes well! I hear of how this location- and from personal experience of trying on Bridesmaid gowns at the Altoona, PA location- they often do try to order one size larger and expect alterations (see other reviews) I've heard this multiple times from multiple people shopping at the local store and other DB locations. The sales staff at the Altoona location did the same thing to me with my BM gown and ordered me a size 16 although the size 14 in the BM dress fit perfectly, and my bridal gown was a 12 (also fitting perfectly except for a little around where my waist goes in-which can easily be adjusted with the corset back alteration- $120). I wasn't told until AFTER payment that you can't take a BM dress in two sizes like you can a bridal gown, so now it looks like I'm stuck wearing the size 16 BM gown like a circus tent (unless they exchange it for free- doubtful) because I'm not paying another large cost for alterations when I have enough to buy for my own wedding. Overall, I rate my experiences with both DB stores a 2/5: 1 for the perfect dress, 1 for flower girl dress & alterations for bridal gown.. Lacks customer service and professionalism. read more

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at David's Bridal in Altoona! I had gone there two times prior to me buying my dress and I loved the staff. They seemed to truly want me to find the right wedding dress for me, regardless of whether it was from them. They pulled countless dresses for me to try, always taking what I said I didn't like on a dress into consideration. I had been to many other bridal shops where they think "they know best", but David's Bridal wasn't like that. They weren't pushy when I was trying to decide on a dress, which I really liked. Angela Barroner, the store manager, was the absolute best! She was so patient with me when trying on countless dresses and did everything she could to help me envision my dress in white instead of ivory. She was so kind and courteous to both myself and my mother, even though I didn't have an appointment. She was at the store all three times I went there looking for a dress and each time, she recognized me, which instantly gave the store a more personal feel to it. After Angela's help, I could finally envision the dress in white and loved it! I bought it that day and am so happy with that decision! I would recommend David's Bridal in Altoona to anyone struggling to find the perfect wedding gown, like I was. The staff will not let you down! read more

It was the evening of October 10, 2014 when I was at my best friend's rehearsal dinner. I was blessed with being the maid of honor with a woman who was literally the best bride ever. My best friend had asked me to bring my dress to the rehearsal so it would be there for the wedding. Being the directive following person I am...I complied. The bride to be laughed as she saw me pull my dress from the car and carried it in a ball. She informed me I would wrinkle it and hung it up. See I bought my dress from a website that shipped from China. Then I had the alterations done because it was too big on the top. That was that I never tried the dress on after the altercations were made. Well so now you're wondering how does David's Bridal come into play.....I'm getting to that. At the rehearsal the bride to be asked me how the dress fit since I had it altered. I simply responded, "I don't know I haven't tried it on yet". She paused in only a way that a best friend can do. She laughed and told me that I needed to try it on after we ate dinner. So we ate our dinner, wings and pizza (did I mention best bride ever?). Then we went upstairs with her almost (not yet but going to be) sister-in-law to see how my dress fit. So I put on the dress and they are trying to zip me up....yep....it wouldn't budge. We start talking and it is decided that I need to get another dress. The wedding is in under 24 hours and we are 30 miles away from any store. The bride to be's soon to be sister in law calls David's Bridal explains our emergency and asks them to please not close their doors before we get there. Understanding to our plight they agree to serve us if we can get there ASAP. I am then escorted to David's Bridal, by this point it is decided that I'm not to be trusted with dress decisions. It's after 7pm and David's closes at 8pm. We get there about 7:50pm. The two wonderful ladies working that night began pulling all long purple dresses and had me sized in a few minutes. Five dresses later it was settled and I was done shopping by 8:05 pm. The best part of the whole adventure....it looked like we planned the dresses to match, they all had the same style. That is called Karma and luck. So the take away from this story.....1. I do not recommend purchasing dresses for weddings online. 2. The staff at David's Bridal are awesome. I'm sure they are amazing when it isn't down to the minute but when it is crunch time they are better than Chuck Norris. I forget the one lady's name who was working there but she was certainly stellar. The other lady I do know and that was Savanna. She was such a peach helping me pick out the dresses and offered her insight and positivity. She (along with my bride-to-be's soon to be sister-in-law) made the adventure seamless (pun intended). read more

The ONLY reason I gave it 2 stars is because of the wonderful lady who helped us find my daughter's wedding gown. Once you purchase the dress , someone from alterations comes out to advise you on size & also give you an "estimate " on cost of alterations..... Not a very accurate one. She told us " no more than $250.00". We were thrilled with that because we were planning the wedding in 3 months. So we go in for what we thought was a fair price for alterations & when they rang up the alterations I almost had a heart attack......$409.75. She could have bought another dress. Her dress was beautiful & was with slip & bra & jewelry( headband & necklace) was $2500.00. When we went in , they had not even cut the tulle when they hemmed the dress, & had also forgotten to see on several buttons & loops for the bustle. At the wedding all but 3 of the "ribbons & loops.. Aka.. Thread loops broke & we were unable to bustle her dress the correct way that I'd spent all that money on. The day she picked her gown, we also picked bridesmaid dresses & were told they'd take 3 weeks to arrive.... Sooooo not true. When the girls were told they'd be in a week to a few days prior to her wedding it was explained to us that the time changes based on minute to minute updates( both girls went no more than 7 days after gowns were chosen). What a mess !!!! If you're looking for stress free or good alterations...... Heed this warning!!! Your day is too important to risk here. read more

I originally had purchased my gown at another Davids Bridal in my hometown in May. The first store had lost my appointment so my associate fit me in in between appointments. While the associate I had at that store was very nice, I felt rushed (to no fault of her own) and that there were a few dresses I had on my list that I didn't have the opportunity to try on. While I picked a dress that day, for the next two weeks until it arrived I had so much doubt and I was so bummed. When it arrived I tried it on at home and felt so unhappy in it. I called my local store, in Altoona, and they were so nice and told me to come in and try more dresses on. From the time I got there I felt so well taken care of by Ashley and Alicia. They let me take all the time I needed and I tried on about 4 additional dresses. In the end they had me try on my original dress in a smaller size and that made all the difference. It turns out I was two sizes smaller than the dress the first store sold me- which is likely why I felt so unhappy about the way I looked in it. They even had Sarah, in alterations, come over and talk to me about both dresses I was deciding between. The whole experience made me feel like a bride. While I'm not typically a center of attention kind of person, I felt special and confident that my happiness in my dress choice really did matter to them. Special thank you Ashley, Alicia, and Sarah for creating such a memorable and pleasant experience for me. I appreciate it so much more than I can express! My mom and I went into David's Bridal yesterday, not even looking for a dress, just wanting to try a few on to get some ideas. We were greeted upon arrival and a very friendly girl named Samantha helped us. She showed us where everything was, and offered to get a room ready with some dresses. We picked out a few and I started trying them on. She helped me the whole way, we talked about our upcoming weddings (as she was engaged too), and just had a wonderful experience. When I came out in the fourth dress, it was perfect! Everything about it was perfect, and my mom, and Samantha, as well as the very sweet manager, Julia, agreed! I rang the bell, took tons of pictures, Facetimed with my friends, and had a great experience. Samantha brought me everything I needed to look and feel like a princess--it was a great day! I purchased my wedding dress at this location and I must rave about my alteration experience! I made an appointment with Angela and she was simply amazing. It's always awkward to have somebody that up close and personal, however Angela made me feel like I wasn't just a client, she treated me like a best friend! She was so personable, and I felt like she genuinely cared about my wedding and my dress. She brought happy tears to my eyes! I expressed concern about not finding a veil that I liked. Angela walked me to the sales floor and picked out my perfect veil. She also told me the benefits of a David's bridal credit card abs signed me up in two minutes so I didn't have to front a huge bill that day. I had the perfect experience from start to finish, not to mention my dress looks AMAZING!! My bridesmaids and my mom went to this store to get their dresses.They did not help us at either time. The staff is solely focused on brides, which is I'm sure because the commission is higher. But they treated my mom as if she didn't exist. She made an appointment even to ensure she wouldn't be overstepping, and they weren't even busy when we arrived. However, it took them 10 minutes to get her a changing room. They put us in the only area of the store that was crowded with bridesmaids and put her right in the middle of it. She did not open the changing room door once without hitting another person. Yet the other side of the store was wide open! I pulled all the dresses for her. When I asked for help, the woman assumed I was with the party of bridesmaids and told me she was already pulling the dress. No one asked if we needed help, needed sizes, nothing. We then went to look at the shoes. Still, no assistance. When we went to checkout because sadly she did find a dress and shoes she liked, the girl asked if we wanted to take the floor model dress which had snags everywhere. No thanks. When we asked to order the shoes, she asked me if they had in any in the back. I told her I don't believe I would have any way of knowing to answer to that and NO ONE HELPED US! I said whoever's name is on the little paper, take it off. My mom never even got a thank you for coming in. I understand she's not the bride, and her bill wasn't going to be thousands of dollars, but she is my mother. It's an important day for her too, and they ruined the entire experience for her.I won't go back there. read more
