Elevate delivers on that. Johnstown's downtown area is attempting to make a comeback. A very slow, well thought out comeback. Elevate just happens to be one of those well thought out steps taken for the area. It has not only filled a void in the downtown market with offering clothing and items that you would have to travel out of that area for, but they have also filled the void of a long abandoned storefront. And downtown Johnstown has an abundance of abandoned storefronts. We had somehow stumbled upon Elevate through Etsy before realizing that they have a physical store. To find that this company was Johnstown based thrilled me. My sister convinced me that I should take the time to go with her and see what is up with this place. I loved how they used all the space this had to offer. They utilized every little ounce of window space to let you know exactly the mix of items they sale within. The inside is a mis of new and old. You can use that in two ways. New items with a mix of old in a consignment shop type of way. And old brands of the area on items to buy. I was completely enthralled with the t-shirts as I always am and went directly to that rack. They went straight for the old reliables for the area. Glosser Brothers, Skateland, and what I went with, Richland Mall. I absolutely love the shirt and am so happy I have it in my collection. They have a lot to choose from. You will need time to look this place over, which will give you a good reason to be down in the downtown area. Take your time to look over consignment area. Really reasonable prices and they have rack of nothing but children's clothing all for $5 or less (kids rack only). The owners of the store are amazing. They let us know how they came to own the spot and even shown us a picture of the store that they were given long before they took over the spot. I was greeted when I entered and that was the jest of my interactions with the employees. I was just out browsing thrift shops for nothing in particular. If you are a guy, you can almost skip this place. What is offered is mostly women's clothing. The men's section is maybe one rack and a corner wall of items aimed at men. Not sure why they even have it. They should just make this a women's consignment shop and have that be that. The few times I've asked an employee for something, someone helped me efficiently; this last time, the worker was already very busy, but she still got me into a fitting room in short order. I'm not there to be social, so this suits me fine. Invariably, I find some kind of not-to-be-believed deal. This last time, I got three absolutely gorgeous sweaters -- one was new with the tags still on it -- for twenty bucks. The last time, I got a Coach purse, also brand new, for $70, one that easily would have retailed for well over $200 at the Coach outlet by my house.The place is amazing. We stopped by one morning and had an extremely positive experience. We learned about different fabrics, cuts, and origins of suits which helped us make our decision about the designer that we wanted. Alex tried on three different suits and the staff helped us make our final decision on the one that we wanted. The father/son duo is quite knowledgeable and creates an atmosphere of comfort for asking questions and trying out new looks. After the son helped us find the perfect suit, the father took the measurements and tailored the suit to fit Alex wonderfully. Once we went back to try on the final product, we continued to have a fabulous experience picking out a matching shirt, tie, pocket square, belt, and shoes! The Miller family thanked Alex for his service with a military discount and offers lifelong alterations on their products. A staff member saw I was struggling and getting frustrated and told me to come over to the register and she could do a price check for me. After that it was smooth sailing. This new location is in the Richland Town Center, ironically the location of the old Richland Mall. I have said this before, but I'll say it again, it is coming full circle with stores returning to this area. The new location feels small, but in reality it is about the same size you would find in a mall. With it being part of the center it gets way more light than those mall setups. Everything is nice and clean, and well stocked. I came in looking for items I didn't think I could find elsewhere and ended up spending more than I intended. The staff in here were super nice and answered questions I had about the two stores. They are as baffled as everyone else in the area. It honestly makes sense to have this here as it makes shopping a little more fun in the center and it is one less stop you have to make if you need to make your way here.
