You can't beat Boscov's when it comes to assortment and great prices. Add on the bonus coupons and…read morereward money for using their credit card and you really get a good value for your money. The Johnstown location is the closest to me and I really wish they would move into Westmoreland County so I did have to drive so far. The service, like anywhere, is affected by low staffing. There are centralized sales desks to check out, but most only have one employee staffing it. Still, they are apologetic for your wait time and are very courteous and efficient. As far as selection, there is so much to look at, I almost always come home spending more than I planned. The shoe department is especially good. So is the handbag department. Actually every department I have shopped has had a good assortment and I can find things I want. They also have a Clearance center with REALLY low prices on the second floor.

After 6 weeks passed with no update, we waited another 6 weeks. At that point, we received a phone call apologizing for the "bad news" and were told it would be another 4 weeks. Concerned, I stopped by the store and spoke with a different sales associate. I asked if the 4-week timeline could be guaranteed, and she told me it could not -- in fact, she said it would likely be longer than that. This directly contradicted what we had just been told over the phone. At this point, we are nearly four months in with no clear or reliable delivery timeline. The lack of transparency and inconsistent communication has been extremely disappointing. I would strongly caution others about purchasing furniture from this store if it requires warehouse delivery, as the estimated timelines do not appear to be accurate or dependable.

Elevate

I'm a huge supported of locally owned businesses. Especially in an area I am familiar with. One…read morethat has a specialized section that focuses on the community heritage. Elevate delivers on that. Johnstown's downtown area is attempting to make a comeback. A very slow, well thought out comeback. Elevate just happens to be one of those well thought out steps taken for the area. It has not only filled a void in the downtown market with offering clothing and items that you would have to travel out of that area for, but they have also filled the void of a long abandoned storefront. And downtown Johnstown has an abundance of abandoned storefronts. We had somehow stumbled upon Elevate through Etsy before realizing that they have a physical store. To find that this company was Johnstown based thrilled me. My sister convinced me that I should take the time to go with her and see what is up with this place. I loved how they used all the space this had to offer. They utilized every little ounce of window space to let you know exactly the mix of items they sale within. The inside is a mis of new and old. You can use that in two ways. New items with a mix of old in a consignment shop type of way. And old brands of the area on items to buy. I was completely enthralled with the t-shirts as I always am and went directly to that rack. They went straight for the old reliables for the area. Glosser Brothers, Skateland, and what I went with, Richland Mall. I absolutely love the shirt and am so happy I have it in my collection. They have a lot to choose from. You will need time to look this place over, which will give you a good reason to be down in the downtown area. Take your time to look over consignment area. Really reasonable prices and they have rack of nothing but children's clothing all for $5 or less (kids rack only). The owners of the store are amazing. They let us know how they came to own the spot and even shown us a picture of the store that they were given long before they took over the spot. Great addition and well overdue for the downtown area.

The Galleria - Interior.

The ring road as of my visit is in poor condition, but repairs were occurring in several areas. Lots of parking, but watch for potholes. This mall is two stories and was built by Zamias, so internally it looks magnificent. It's very much a 1990's mall with its coloring and design, but that only helps it. Mall only has two occupied anchors, Boscov's and JCPenney. The former Bon-Ton and Sears remain vacant. Unfortunately, the interior is largely vacant with many empty storefronts, including several occupied ones not being open. Other problems included all four escalators being shut off, and the mall in general feeling dark. Rare Collectibles was probably the most interesting store I found, having various comic books and retro toys. One positive included the food court being almost full, along with other full-service restaurants being available as dining options. The Johnstown Galleria's new owner has a tough battle ahead to save this mall, and I don't know if he will succeed despite this mall looking so magnificent. I wish him luck.

I wanted to get this updated review in now before it slipped my mind. I fear that The Galleria is…read moreon its last leg. The mall has dwindle more since my review five years ago. So much so that it is nearly pointless to venture past center court as most of the storefronts past here remain empty or have become empty. With this holiday season upon us it will be the last that we see some tenants in the mall. Three stores that have been tenants since the mall opened in 1992. The mall will say goodbye to Spencer's, Bath & Body Works, and American Eagle Outfitters. All three tenants are said to vacate and relocate to Richland Towne Center. As ironic as it is, these stores are venture back to the site that was vacated, tore down, and rebuilt because of The Galleria's opening. Richland Mall got the last laugh it appears in the end. Zamias, the original owner and builder of the mall, has even vacated the many storefronts it once occupied within the mall. With some creative handling this could once again be a vibrant mall in a sense. It may not be your typical mall, but this could still be a destination for people if they want it to be. The outer portion of the property seems to still be thriving as the outparcel lots seem to be able to adapt for the needs of the area. Some restaurants have closed, but they have been quickly replaced in whole or with a remodel. It is nice to see that, but it does not fix the interior of the property. I do still stop by every so often to pick up an item when need be, saving me a trip to other areas. What is sad is that some of the areas that have been closed for some time are starting to show deterioration. The old Bon Ton spot is most notable where there is parts of the façade that is falling off the building. Only time will tell if and when this will be a totally dead mall or if this will be saved. Here's to hoping, but like I said, only time will tell.
