Wow, what a great find. I am Jewish from New York and very discerning about bagels! The everything is wonderfully tasty, lots of yummy seeds on the outside. I had it with hummus, lox, onion, tomato and capers. Perfect! Pastry also delectable; the black and white cookie is so good and flavorful and who expects to see hamantaschen anywhere when it's not Purim???? I loved the tangy apricot. Soft, tasty dough. I was surprised that I could order directly from him, and within 24 hours I had 6 fresh, locally made bagels. I grew up on the east coast and ate a lot of bagels. Then I moved to the Bay area and spent 7 years eating crappy bagel-shaped bread and reminiscing about how wonderful boiled bagels are. And then I found David's bagels and they're wonderful. His bagels taste like east coast bagels. I'm finally enjoying pumpernickel bagels again (which taste like cardboard unless they're made by the best). He also offers lots of items that are frequently found in east coast Jewish delis but are hard to find around here, like black and white cookies and sprinkle cookies and rugelah and even hamentashen. David's also really nice and flexible. He'll deliver to your door at a time that works for you. read more

I've been looking for good bagels on the coast for years. I came across a FB post about David's Bagels. It's delivery only - right to your front door. David was exceptionally nice on the phone. I ordered bagels (boiled), cream cheese, pastries and cookies. He promptly delivered them on the date/time we agreed to on the phone. Everything was delicious (and very well-priced by the way). I then got a call a few weeks later from David telling me that I won his raffle (I didn't even know there was one). He then delivered my family a smorgasbord of delicious food free-of-charge. Rating is more like a 3.5. Came here during the weekday and again on a weekend. I love the small and quaint location and local vibe. The weekday staff were personable and helpful, and the place felt like a clean, well-run business. They said hello, gave recommendations, and asked if I'd like the bagel toasted. The bagel was delicious and I really enjoyed it! The whole experience made me want to come back during the weekend, and I did. We came back on a Sunday, with three staff just standing facing the door in silence. So I offered a hello and none of them said hi back. That's ok. I got family their age too, and that happens sometimes. It's also near the end of their shift, so I figure they're tired from a long day of working. No big deal. My partner and I came later during the day, so offerings were looking sparse too, so we were struggling with what to order. It was pure silence for several minutes with none of the staff offering suggestions or sharing what was available. We were the only customers at the moment. The place also looked a bit more disheveled too with grease soaked brown bags behind the cashier all over what looks like a counter. We eventually ordered, and I meant to get the bagel toasted like last time(that toasty-ness was everything the last time I got a bagel here) -- I got used to them asking to toast and was a little sad they didn't ask and that I forgot. The bagel was still delicious, just missing that extra pizzazz I was craving from a warm toasted carb. We also ordered drinks too for the first time. Coffee was ok, and the matcha latte was ok. There was a section on the wall with the staff's favorite drinks, and I thought those drinks were available there. So I ordered a matcha latte with peppermint syrup or something like that.. whatever it said on the wall. I felt adventurous. The cashier said no, they don't make that. That's ok, there are other drinks available. I also noticed the staffer who was preparing the drinks was coughing a lot while making the drink, before, and after, which was a bit concerning. I know masks are optional these days, but I hope that food servers with coughs can show consideration and mask up when that happens or while they are preparing food/drinks. For drinks plus two bagels with cream cheese, tomatoes, and cucumber, we paid about $27. I will skip drinks next time. I'd like to come back, but perhaps not on the weekend and will come earlier in the day. They also have doughnuts, cookies, and other pastries. If I'm in the area again, I would give this place another try for the sweet treats and a toasted bagel. read more

I just had such a weird experience... I brought home a couple of David's Bagels, having visited Pacifica on my day off (I just love Pacifica), and I just ate the bagel with nothing on it, not toasted, nada, because THAT is what a bagel tastes like. I have full street cred: I'm born in Brooklyn, grew up on Long Island, but over the past fifteen years, have barely been to NY and have been eating ersatz versions in Florida, where my family now lives. I thought they were pretty good, and I was also okay eating mediocre San Francisco bagels because, whatever, it's a damned piece of bread, and you move to California to eat the burritos and coconut soup. BUT THANK YOU, DAVID, FOR THE NICE BAGELS. I will be back! read more

I was really excited to try this place based on all the 5 star reviews but just noticed most were from before the storefront opened. Makes sense now. Walked in around 10am and there were no customers. Said "good morning" and did not receive a response from any of the three people working there. The menu from the previous cafe was the same and there was no menu or prices posted for the bagels or other pastries. My husband asked what they had for shmears and other toppings...the response from the cashier was that they had "all the normal toppings and flavored shmears". He took a shot in the dark and asked for cream cheese and lox. We got the one bagel with two coffees and paid $27. I'm not sure why since, again, there were no prices posted. While we waited for our coffee, a gentleman was filling the pastry display. I greeted him and asked if they make the bagels in-house. He looked at me and went back to filling the case. No response. Got my bagel and continued to wait for my coffee. The woman behind the counter asked what I was still waiting for and when I told her we didn't get our coffees, she directed me to walk behind the pastry case where our coffees had apparently been for several minutes but nobody told us. Just a reminder that we were the only people in there. We love supporting local small businesses and would love to come back once they get things figured out. Update in response to owner's comment: David - thanks for taking the time to respond to me. I understand how difficult it is for small businesses to survive and hope you can learn to listen to the feedback of your customers to continually improve your business rather than responding in a defensive and unprofessional manner. First off, the bagels and the shmear (garlic is my favorite) are perfect in taste and texture. Nothing beats a fresh bagel! The challah is a special Friday treat too, and making yummy challah French toast on a Sunday morning with this challah is a happy tradition. Really tasty bagels by this local Pacifica bagel maker. You can find David's Bagels is many local places in and around Pacifica. The bagel I had today a his poppy seed bagel. Nice and fresh and cooked just right. Even though I have my bagel with stuff on it, I always rip off a piece to try out plain. Once again guy's bagels are a win. Great the texture and flavor. The right amount of poppy seed without being too much. After toasting and a schmear it went from perfection to heaven. But then, as a college student visiting NYC, was introduced to H&H on the Upper West Side, and later, Ess-a-Bagel near the UN. Spoiled by actual New York bagels, I've suffered from a seemingly endless and frustrating search for that perfect combination of crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside feature that defines bagel perfection. Wise & Sons is OK but don't talk to me about Noah's bagels, the Wonder Bread of bagel-shaped pillowy soft imposters. Go to David's bagels! Watch out H&H! Servers were very friendly and clearly hometown heroes. The small storefront looks like a shingled ski chalet but with Victorian trim. The inside is a shrine to the Chicago Bears. Locally roasted Kizler coffee is tasty, specialty tea bags from Intersection, and don't miss the $2 Puppuccino for that four-legged family member! We have tried the jalapeño cheese, Asiago, and plain NYC style bagels. In addition, we also enjoyed the Ham and Cheese, plain, chocolate and almond croissants. The croissants are bigger than my hands and their so flakey! The blueberry and lemon scones are tart and sweet! I found David's bagels via Next Door when someone posted about them. My father-in-law hates receiving gifts (birthdays, father's day, christmas) so I made it a mission to gift him edible items because then it doesn't seem like a tangible gift. Anyways, we did David's Bagels one time and he loved them so much that this is a permanent thing we will be doing. They do boiled and steamed bagels but we always go with boiled - apparently they're more authentic to NYC bagels. They also have bialys which they don't list on the site but they're soooo delicious and it makes me feel like a Soprano (ykno tony always needed his morning bialy) i love the fact that they deliver and they're super prompt. We needed bagels for our staff breakfast and we wanted something different from Noah's. I found David on yelp and the service and process was great. This is an unusual place. First, it's not a place. You just call Dave, and he delivers your stuff. He can usually get it to you next day, if you don't order too late. Or, you can do a standing order and get it delivered on a set day. Everything he makes is fantastic! He can even make stuff not on his website, but don't tell him I said that. He can send a sampler if you don't know what you want. He makes bagels steamed or boiled, and they have a somewhat different texture, depending. Anyway, they are all good, and it's so nice to see a bakery box outside your door in the morning. read more

Went here today because I been hearing amazing stuff and had an opportunity to pass by today. I bought 2 blueberry bagels, 2 everything, 1 plain, 3 glazed doughnuts, 2 chocolate doughnut, and 2 sticky buns for $30. I couldn't really taste the blueberries in the blueberry bagel. So, I was a little underwhelmed. The sticky buns were reallyyy dry. The doughnuts taste like the denser type of classic donuts (where is a bit doughy on the inside). I tend to like the light and fluffy ones. I haven't tried the other 2 bagels yet, but if I return I would only by a bagel or try a drink. Workers were nice- but the person struggled with the tongs and dropped my bagel in front of the register then grabbed it with their hand which kind of grossed me out (mainly bc it's in front of the register and they were in charge of payment) but I figured I would heat it and it would kill the bacteria...The staff were overall friendly. I don't know if I just came on a bad day? I will probably try again to see if I came on an off day. read more
