I went here over the weekend, I didn't know that ownership had changed and the items being sold were different until I came across it on yelp/google. I was looking for best breakfast places near me. I read they offered a variety of empanadas and hopia ube. I walked in to see a line and a bunch of O.G. lolos/lolas playing scratchers/ drinking coffee. I was like ok they must be good if there's a line. I ordered a sampler for my family to try of empanadas: pork,beef,tuna, and chicken. For my husband and I we got ube and mongo hopia. The empanadas were a hit with my family. The hopias were fresh and flaky. The inside had a generous amount of ube/mongo. I found the price of $8 for 5 pieces to be steep but it's way better than Goldilocks and the possible hit or miss hopia from other places. I'll definitely be back soon to try the empanadas first hand and get more hopia. The gentleman who helped me was super nice and took the time to talk to me despite the growing line. I'm not too sure what the people in line were waiting for but I'll be back to find out and keep you posted! read more

I was craving for empanadas and decided to stop by to get some to go. The friendly cashier greeted me upon entering the store. I bought a box of eight chicken and pork empanadas. They were freshly made. They were still warm when I purchased them. The crust for the empanadas weren't too thick. There was a good amount of meat, carrots, and peas in them. The filling was tasty and wasn't dry, which we really liked. I will be back to try their doughnuts and hopias. read more

This place is definitely the watering hole for older Filipino males looking to win big on the lottery! I stumbled upon this place while getting my oil changed at Daly City a couple years ago and it has been my go-to spot to grab a coffee and donut holes while I wait it out. This place does advertise that it is a "Lucky Retailer" for the CA lottery and theres consistently at least 2 tables of older Filipino males hanging out either working on scratchers or checking their lotto tickets. I hope they keep producing winners!! As for the food, the donut selection is actually pretty small and meh...but there is a variety of other different Filipino treats you could buy! I finally decided to buy the hopia (ube & mongo) as well as a chicken empanada this time around and I was pleasantly surprised! The donuts and coffee are pretty average and nothing to write home about but the hopia is sooooo fresh and so good (not too sweet either)!! The chicken empanada had a good amount of flavorful filling! The service here is consistently friendly and welcoming! I would definitely go back for the Hopia and empanadas and maybe I'll actually test my luck next time and get myself a lotto ticket! read more

We came here on a Saturday morning around 9 am and we were a bit disappointed with the donut selections - there were only donut holes, glazed, chocolate glazed, apple fritters, and some old fashioned donuts. We were kind of sad because for the name they didn't have any jelly-filled donuts. Maybe they sold out already, but their display case also made it seem like they were selling other things because the case was packed with other things. The store itself is not a typical donut store because they sell other things like lottery tickets. The baby donut holes we bought were also mixed - some tasted old and not fresh while others were light and fluffy. We also got a chicken empanada and we were kind of disappointed because she took it out of the display case and microwaved it so the texture was very doughy and not crunchy. Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Daly City yesterday! My family picked up a box of ube hopias, as per the worker's recommendation. This was my first time trying a hopia and I really enjoyed it! Delicious Filipino baked goods! I got to try two things I'd never had: bibingka and hopia. They sprinkled a bit of cheese on the bibingka and warmed it up so it was a lovely combination of salty cheese and soft sweet muffin. We tried the ube hopia which had a flaky pastry exterior and a sweet purple yam interior. I also had a chicken empanada - a nice combination of savory and sweet. There is limited seating inside, and it's essentially card tables and chairs. I saw this donut store after I picked something up from Walgreens. I went in to buy a round, glazed donut. There were two older Asian men sitting down at a table but nobody in line. I ordered the donut and drove home. When I opened the bag, I couldn't believe the donut. There was no sugar and definitely no glaze on this donut. This is the cheapest made donut I have ever seen. Finally a donut shop with the ambiance of a divebar! I was weary of even entering due to the obvious uncleanliness, even now I can't tell you if the place was carpeted or not. I was not greeted by the woman behind the counter because she was arguing with a customer over the validity of a lotto ticket and while i was waiting I noticed a large amount of Lottery winners posted on the wall. I started feeling lucky. Lottery is clearly the focus of this establishment. When the dust cleared the woman at the counter stood victorious as the customer limped off, head in hand. "I'll take a sugar" I said after surveying the extremely limited selection of donuts and was acknowledged with a grunt. "One dollar " she said and taken aback, I gave it to her. It just didn't sit right maybe I'm old but a dollar seemed like a lot for THIS shop, so i hung out for a minute looking for a price list among all the lotto advertising.
