Took my sister who has early onset dementia for a second opinion on how to treat NUMEROUS :( molar extractions. Dr Alfaro was extremely helpful in explaining options and was patient with my sister. He explained how her case would need to be referred to an oral surgeon, and yet performed a complete exam to identify and future dental issues. Once my sister's immediate extraction issues are addressed, will be returning to Dr Alfaro for my sister's future dental treatments. I had to have X-rays before my cleaning and the Tech (I didn't get her name) who did them was very good and fast and I told her so. It even included the panoramic X-ray that one has to get every 5 years. I then had my teeth cleaned by my regular hygienist Cecilia and she is always very good and is also very nice. Dr. Leyva popped in to do his usual check, which was also quick, and I was out of there in under 1 hour! Got over my fear of dentists thanks to Dr Dave I hate dentists. I hate visiting them. I dislike the poking and prodding. But what I hate more are cavities and other problems that make my teeth hurt. I started having trouble with old fillings (yes, apparently they decay too and often need refilling). So, I committed myself to a search and found a dentist that I actually LOVE. Dave is very gentle - an efficient and straightforward dental professional. He took one look at my old cavities and put me on an 8 month program to replace all those old silver(ish) fillings with modern porcelains. You may say - whoa dude - that's just cosmetic. But no - this was not just for looks. I had a pain that was misdiagnosed by two other dentists. Dr Alfaro took one look at the xrays and said - "my friend, we need to replace this one - look at the decay UNDER the old filling!" He and his assistant worked for 2 hours on that one filling. The rot went deep. But he managed to save the tooth, and now it even looks great. I open my mouth to laugh and I'm no longer exposing a maw with 30-year-old silver/black fillings. Instead - they look as natural as can be, and my mouth doesn't hurt. Now, if only I could get over my fear of dental hygienists. read more

Let me say Dr. Alfaro was nothing short than amazing. First he plays amazing music and he was so gentle with a cavity filling that I didn't feel A THING! Usually I always have to get more numb than most people but one shot this time and I was good!! Didn't even feel the pitch of the shot!!!! The cleaning staff and assistance are EVEN BETTER. I have never had a more thorough, gentle cleaning than Barbara. Dr. Layva is just as good and totally different! His soft and gentle touch is great for the most tender mouth. So why no perfect score? The price. They take very few insurance, and even something as a basic cleaning is still $150 out of pocket if they will take your insurance. Again, to be fair, their cleanings are remarkably thorough and gentle. Larger items such as fillings, caps, crowns and root canals they are mostly price competitive (by which I mean outrageously expensive even with insurance, just like every other dentist I have been to). read more

My dentist made the need of a CPAP clearer then any other physician I had interviewed about my sleep Apnea. More importantly, the effects of not treating it. I only wish I would have started coming to Dr. Alfaro sooner because I couldn't be happier. And that's saying a lot for me. I always hated the dentist. Before Dr. Alfaro, I had been going to another dentist. I won't name him but he's in Covina. He was planning to do all of this work and it was going to be expensive but I was going along until he wanted me to put a 33% deposit for an upcoming appointment. We disagreed on that and a dental specialist I'd seen recommended Dr. Alfaro who examined me and performed the treatment for a fraction of what the other dentist was going to charge.
