The downstairs toilet kept backing up when you leave the water on for too long in the kitchen so the plumber Abrahim that came started breaking up the concrete slab in the garage to find the buried trap. IT WAS 10 FEET UNDERGROUND. Turns out the trap was extremely old (1940's or so) and the pipe from the street was clay which turned out to be cracked and causing mud to come into the pipe. Im not making this up. They dug a tunnel 10 feet deep and about 20 feet long to the street to replace the entire clay pipe with a new PVC pipe and made the connection to the main sewage line for the city. The neighbors started coming out thinking we were busting someone out of prison. I had to pay for police to block the street and an engineer to come and inspect the connection made. The inspector never came and the police told us to cover the whole back up and try again tomorrrow! So second try the following day, the police left again and there was no way we were covering it back up so after a few let's just call them *gifts* the inspector stayed after hours to check the connection and it was FINALLY completed. 45 days with no water. Business shut down. And a whole lot of headaches and money later. ALLSTATE came through when no one else wanted to touch the job. I've read the other reviews and I can only assume that they've cleaned up their act because I'm satisfied with the work.

First mistake he installed a 4 way diverter for a shower, tub and shower wand without looking at the entire box of items that were sent to there , after the wall was sheetrocked it was then brought to up to us we needed a 5 way diverter. No attention to detail to notice that there was a shower wand in the box. He put new shutoff valves Under the kitchen sink that leaked for 2 hours that my husband had to try to fix. Also installed new plumbing with two new shutoffs in our bathroom which also had a leak that my husband tried to fix which caused the pipe to spray like a fire hydrant because the shutoffs were not installed properly. Rich charged 30% more than the other plumbers who we got quotes from but we went with him as he was recommended from a friend but the work was shotty and not done right. I would stay away and not let him or anyone who Works under his license do any of the work in your home unless you want damage. I can now see that he has a few 1 stars in his reviews recently and we wish we never hired him: best thing is agreed to install appliances, then said he didn't agree to it so lesson learned get something in writing !!

We called Aquino Plumbing based on reviews: 31 of them (a good sample size); all "5 stars" (universal praise is unusual); and what those reviews said (prompt, responsive, transparent, honest, skilled). So glad we called, and we're happy to add our own 5-star review. Texted them on a Sunday and heard back that day. By Monday we had arranged a Tuesday AM appointment, and Ross appeared on time as promised. What looked to me like an impossible-to-reach problem that might involve pulling the shower apart from the first floor took Ross about 10 minutes to assess. He gave us flat price for the job that was so much less than what we were expecting I was SURE he would end up adding to it at the end with "extra time" or "unanticipated this-and-that". I think it took a little longer than expected, but Ross found a way to make the space he needed from underneath. And after running out to get the parts he needed, he made pretty quick work of the job once he got going. The plumbing he removed might have been "DIY" work from a prior owner of the house. Ross explained what he found (or didn't find) in that work, which explained why it started leaking over time. He explained what he was doing differently so that I had a better understanding. Looking at that drain now, there's such a clear difference between professional plumbing work and the work of someone who just tried to figure it out. The leak is now gone, and we have confidence it is gone for good. And the price he quoted before he stated the work is the price he charge at the end. Working with Ross is exactly as everyone else has already noted. Very impressive all the way around. High praise. No negatives.
