Let me start with my first visit to Dr. Hahn's office. My first visit was definitely not very pleasant. Something was malfunctioning with their X-ray machine, to the point I had to do X-rays more than once. Which was very unpleasant. Today I went for a visit and was told they had wrong information and I should not have had an appointment today. Very unprofessional and such a COMPLETE WAIST OF MY TIME. (75 miles round trip from my home) I would never recommend this dentist office to anyone. read more

Dr. Hahn and everybody at this office are wonderful! I had all of the teeth on my upper arch extracted and it was painless. Next appointment Dr. Hahn inserted 6 or 7 high quality implants which was painless as well! I could not have asked anymore from Dr. Hahn and his staff. Last but not least the final prosthesis was more than I could have asked for and far surpassed my expectations! Dr Hahn always go above and beyond for my family. He is patience and thorough. A perfectionist even. He won't let you leave even if it's slightly cosmeticly flaw. He can be a bit awkward. Doesn't talk much, but if you can get him to talk about hockey or cars, he'll lighten up. Overall he's a nice man. My kids love him too... I can't say the same about his receptionists though. Both girls at the front desk are rude and stuck up. They need a course in customer service. read more

I have been going here for a few years based on the other Yelper's reviews and have had nothing but a good experience. Their entire staff is professional and intelligent. What I like the most is how they explain the procedure you need done 100% thoroughly with pictures! They also work to make sure you are as comfortable as possible (you can get shades and a blankie while they work). read more

Avoid Hahn like the plague. He was totally useless and charged for services that had to be fixed by another dentist. He also is great at "surprise billing".My family and I have been coming to this practice for years when it was owned by Dr Tassey. It was great and he was great. Dr. Hahn is a great dentist and everyone at this office is great - from the front desk to the dental hygienist to the dental assistants. I've gotten my teeth cleaned twice by Tracy and she is amazing. My teeth feel much cleaner and I feel she cleans cleaner than other hygienists I've visited before. She is super friendly and always tells you what she is doing so nothing is a surprise. The office is very modern and high-tech and his equipment seems very cutting edge. Every room has a big screen tv where you can see snapshots of your teeth. Dr. Hahn is very gentle and is always smiling and does a great job of answering all your questions. Great dentist! read more

I rarely take time to Yelp about something, but use Yelp to find places to eat, shop and even get dental care. I was tired of substandard dental offices that treated me like a slot machine when I went in for work. Procedures would invariably turn into consultative sessions to get me to sign up for a $10K contract of "absolutely necessary" work. I did a search on Yelp and found 7 very solid, happy reviews about Dr. Hahn, and so I read about him on his website (http://www.doctorhahn.com/abouthahn.html) and made an appointment. I have been back for several procedures and cleaning over the past year, and I had to take the time to write about it, because it is rare to find a team so committed to your happiness, your health, and your peace of mind than what you find at Dr. Hahn's office. I kid you not, they are the sweetest, nicest, more proficient, and capable group that I have ever found at ANY professional services office ever. You get the sense that they all get along really well, and care for the well being of each other at all times, and this love and caring just naturally carries over to the people and patients visiting them. Joann at the front desk works with your schedule, and does not try to force you into an appointment time that is going to be hard for you to make just to satisfy their needs. Instead you always get the appointment that works best for your life. She is super friendly about the insurance billing and payments, and totally puts you at ease about the paperwork being handled correctly and efficiently. Laurie is a truly unique, totally awesome, caring assistant that always makes you feel as though you are the most important person in the world, and she helps immensely in making sure you are relaxed, and worry free at all times. Dr. Hahn is really, really into what he does. I never feel like a number, and I always feel as though he wants to make sure that I am satisfied with the results, and I am involved in the process to as deep a level as I care to be. I can ask him any question about his determinations and he will sit down and discuss it and has even on occasion taken my opinion into consideration for my care plan. I have never had that kind of involvement in my care plan before. It has always been dictated to me, and if I disagreed, I did not feel welcome anymore. If you are not satisfied with your Dentist, and you feel like you are just a money making opportunity for their office, then you owe it to yourself, your wallet, your health, and your peace of mind to contact Dr. Hahn's office and receive the greatest dental care you have ever received in your life! When I went to David Hahn this page had all 5-star reviews (save for one 4-star review that didn't mention any negatives), and I felt safe and excited to visit him. I hadn't been to the dentist in many years, so I was eager to have any and all dental needs addressed. I had to explicitly point out a very obvious spot near my gumline that he didn't even notice; apparently it's not a cavity, but he was not able to explain to me what the spot is, just saying that we'd keep an eye on it. I ended up needing a deep cleaning. One of the reasons I chose Dr. Hahn was the computerized anesthetic, that allegedly you can't even feel. Well, the hygienist performing my deep clean didn't use that, she used one of those comically oversized syringes that are as painful as you'd expect. ****Not only that, but she said that they were low/out of novocaine.**** Consequently, the deep clean was very painful, and tears streamed awkwardly up my face. After leaving the building I immediately began crying, not so much from the soreness but from the disappointment and feeling that the office has NO idea how to treat people. I ended up keeping a later appointment for a couple fillings, which was a bad move. I briefly mentioned how painful my last appointment had been. Because of that, they started treating me like a little kid, and the hygienist kept telling Dr. Hahn, "remember, gentle, gentle." Dr. Hahn performed the fillings, and used the computerized anesthetic. It wasn't much less painful than the massive syringe, and he didn't numb me as much as I'd have liked, even though I communicated that to him. (I had to come back a few days later to get the filling filed down, as his filling had thrown my bite off and chewing had become excruciating.) The issue for me isn't even my tolerance for pain, it's really just an expectation that dental procedures and their corresponding discomfort should reflect the fact that it's 2012 and technology is absolutely incredible. Overall, the way he spoke to me absolutely boggles my mind. I wouldn't even be okay with him talking to a child in the same manner, it was that condescending. I told the receptionist at my new dental office how he told me "our teeth can't talk to us, so they send out pain signals when something is wrong," and she genuinely could not believe it. He was very condescending, repetitive, and unable to communicate remotely effectively. Needless to say, I will never ever be back. read more

The people were nice & the hygienist was great. But Dr. Hahn made my teeth worse. I won't get into the details here, I regretted coming in here. I think both dr Hahn and Dr Tassey are good and I really really like the hygienists but the two front office ladies are awful. They literally won't crack a smile, say thank you, or greet you. When explaining why my cleaning was more expensive, the front lady rudely said "well didn't Dr Hahn look at your teeth too? That's an extra $50." My son went to this dentist for several fillings. Turns out he sent us a bill out of the blue for $2,000 without any warning or consultation. In addition he tried to throw in a few crowns. After going to another dentist, we discovered that most of the work he did had to be reworked as there was decay under the newly filled teeth and of course the few additional crowns recommended by him were unnecessary, per our new dentist. My family and I started going to the practice years ago when it was owned by Dr Tassey. He was a great dentist, and good to deal with and the practice was great . When Hahn took over everything went down the tubes. Do yourself a favor don't go here. Find another dentist. In fact if I could give zero stars or negative stars for Hahn I would do so. read more

I had a nightmarish experience with David Hahn, DDS. In the fall of 2019, Dr.Hahn pulled my 4 lower front teeth without sedation. (I later learned that dentists generally refer patients to oral surgeons who pull teeth with sedation.) After Dr. Hahn placed 2 implants, I immediately had an infection, which was treated with one course of antibiotic. Approximately one year later, the infection re-occurred. I consulted with a different dentist as well as a periodontist, who diagnosed "failed implants with significant bone loss." I informed Dr. Hahn of the failed implants and that I had lost confidence in his professional services, and I sought a new dentist. The periodontist surgically removed the implants, and due to the extensive bone loss, I had a bone graft and it was not possible to have new implants. Therefore, my new dentist fitted a bridge. Generally, implants last many years, but Dr. Hahn's implants failed after one year, which resulted in a prolonged process of significant pain, trauma, and expense. read more

Dr. Hahn is an outstanding dentist, very knowledgeable and experienced whom we trust. He does a great job in gentle but confident way using cutting edge technology. He maintains modern and very clean office, equipped with state of the art instruments, all computerized. Exams, prophylactics, fillings, crowns and implants, everything he has done serves well for us. We greatly appreciate this. In over 40 visits we had with Dr. Hahn we never had any substantial pain or discomfort during or after procedures. His hygienists, Helen and Lynn, are outstanding, very thorough, caring and experienced, dedicated to prophylactics and keeping your gums in great shape. They educate you in the process and show how new gadgets can help you maintain your gum health and protect your teeth from caries. Assistant Laurie, a cheerful young specialist, helps you to go through procedures as easy as possible and office manager Joanne keeps scheduling and billing easy for you in great style. The atmosphere in Dr. Hahn's office is very friendly. Inspiring classical music on the background lifts the spirit and helps to relax. We have good time there. I wish all visits to other doctors were equally satisfying. Based on our experience we can confidently recommend Dr. Hahn and his team to anybody interested in good systematic care in highly professional and nice way. Dr. Hahn is so worried about being gentle. This is a newer office but is fairly busy. They have this little computerized anesthetic injector so you can't even feel the pressure of the needle. I'm a tough girl so I'm used to not having topical and just getting a big syringeful of whatever -caine they use to numb me up. But, no Dr. Hahn is just too caring to do that. He's also into using the best materials, the best lab, and very meticulous with his work. He is the only dentist in his office so you'll always be greeted with the same doctor, unlike those dental groups. I had my first cleaning in a year done by him, two crowns, and he replaced some old fillings while I had a new cavity. read more

I'm a difficult patient and not a fan of dentists, but Dr. Hahn completely put me at ease and with ZERO UPSELL. This office does only what is necessary and the work is fantastic. Dr Hahn and his staff are truly caring people who seek to understand their patients needs and go out of their way for you. I first came to his office as I was experiencing a lot of pain in my mouth. I was at work and did a google search for dentists in Irvine that were close to my office by chance that I could call one and get an appt asap (as it was about 3 or 4pm at the time - and on a FRIDAY! ) I called one dentist and they couldnt see me for 3-4 days and I knew I couldn't wait that long because I was in too much pain. I then called Dr Hahns office and after explaining my situation, they asked if I could get to their office in the next 10 min and of course I said yes! So, first good sign -sympathetic and flexible staff! I got to the office and Dr Hahn was finishing up with (what was supposed to be) his last patient. He then took some X-rays of my mouth and told me that my tooth (prev root canal done many years ago) had some kind of decay/infection and that it may be possible that I would have to replace my tooth. He did tell me that he did want to save my tooth as a first priority and that he didn't want to jump to conclusions. He then gave me a Rx for pain so I could at least get thru the weekend before he saw me on Monday. Thank goodness for the pain meds as I dont think I would have been able to survive another day in pain like that (plus I had just moved a week prior and was living in boxes with 2 toddlers so I was already on fumes!) . One of the special things that I will remember forever is that he called me on the weekend to make sure I was still ok - WHO DOES THAT THESE DAYS? A dentist calling their own patient to make sure they are ok?!! I was floored. It's amazing what a 2 min phone call could do to show that you actually care! On Monday he was able to take a closer look and was able to save the tooth - hooray! and then referred me to a great Endodontist. Ever since that experience, I have been going to Dr Hahn and brought my husband there (who had not seen a dentist in over 8 yrs! - not sure if it was bc he was scared or just too busy :) He now is a huge fan too and brought them a nice orchid for the New Year just because everyone there is so nice.(yes, am a bit jealous as he never brings me flowers!) As all the other posts say - Dr Hahn has a great staff and bedside manner. I've had a few cavities filled, and multiple cleanings and each time I am informed of what is happening and am made super comfortable. Each time I go, they ask me about my kids and always offer me a blanket when I sit in the dentists chair (as once I told them that I get cold easily). I noticed that Dr Hahn has the up-to-date and state of the art equipment - not just to have the lastest and greatest, but to make the patient experience more enjoyable and to provide the best for them. Joann at the front desk holds down the fort and is super accomodating and Laurie, the dental assistant, is so sweet and bubbly. I've had my teeth cleaned by Helen and the other hygenist and both are thorough and provide actionable recommendations on how to keep your teeth in good shape - instead of just saying - you need to floss more. Update, November 2015: The office recently changed their structure and has one hygienist cleaning now instead of a few. She's friendly and explains everything she's doing. The atmosphere is a lot more friendly now and I'd recommend anyone to go here now. October 2015: I have been going here for several years and was overall impressed with the service I received. However, over the last year I've been less than impressed. It started with having one girl be so agressive with cleaning my teeth that I'd leave the office in pain. More recently, a new girl cleaned my teeth and left about a quarter of my teeth unpolished and sent me on my way. It's quite unfortunate to receive service like this especially when paying so much money to see the dentist. I will be looking for a new dentist now. read more

I have many dental problems over the years and have changed dentists several times. I am horrified by each dental visit until I found Dr. Hahn. His service and skills are really superior. Well, his qualification of being a prosthodontics says itself. His office is very comfortable with state of the art equipments better than any offices i have been to. Appointments are very punctual and efficient. He gets complicated operations done in a very short time - at least 1/3 less time compared to other dentists, and much less pain and stress. Everything in his office is first class. His staff are super nice and friendly. Bonnie the receptionist even babysits for me while I was with the doctor. The hygenist is better than any others. Dr. Hahn is definitely a maticulous doctor who is the best of the best. My experience has been very pleasant and stress free. It is a pleasure to visit your dentist office, isnt that funny? I strongly recommend Dr.Hahn but hesitate to do so because I am not sure I want to share this best kept secret. read more

Not terrible, but definitely not deserving of 4/5 stars either. This dentist was sometimes a little rude/impatient with his assistants, he was never rude to me personally however. He does try to be fair with pricing and so that is a plus. Scheduling was the worst part about this place. Hard to get an appointment and for that reason they are VERY difficult/unforgiving/inflexible when you have to cancel an appointment. So for someone with a busy work schedule or kids I highly recommend finding an office that is more flexible. We got "in trouble" for cancelling an appointment over 24 hours in advance. Things come up and things happen and I feel like most places would be pleased to have a full days notice. Also had a bad experience where one of my teeth was hurting. Dr Hahn wouldn't do an xray or even examine the tooth. He said I had to see an endodontist because I was going to need a root canal. Ended up getting an antibiotic from the endodontist who said I did not need a root canal. read more

Dr. Hahn fixed my smile with amazing results. He really changed my life! Before he fixed my teeth, I had what people told me was a "western smile", meaning I had large gaps between my teeth. When I was a teenager, I asked about getting braces. However, the dentist said the problem was my teeth were straight but they were spaced far apart and braces would actually make my teeth crooked by bringing the bottoms of my teeth closer together while the roots stayed where they were! This resulted in me being shy to smile because I thought my teeth were ugly and definitely made me lack confidence in my looks. However, Dr. Hahn assured me the process would be simple, painless and would give me a beautiful smile - and he was right! He was extremely professional, courteous and calming, which was greatly appreciated as I've never been a big fan of dentists and would get rather anxious whenever I had to go to one. The whole process was also much faster than I imagined. My "new teeth" matched the color of real teeth perfectly and look real. It's been 5 years now and ever since Dr. Hahn, I've confidently smiled ear to ear when it's picture time, and I highly recommend his services to others. read more

I liked my hygienists here, but did not feel like Dr. Hahn spent enough time with his patients. I don't think I've ever seen him for more than 5 minutes, and he only came by for 1-2 minutes during my last cleaning. He's also aggressive to his staff (I've only had 2-3 visits and have heard 2 prolonged scoldings from my chair). Finally, he's too free in recommending treatments. He wanted me to get deep cleanings, new fillings, and sent me away to get a biopsy for a spot on my gumline (that I think but can't be sure I got during a cleaning at his office). The dental surgeon I went to for my biopsy highly recommended I skip the biopsy because the gum tissue won't grow back in that spot and it was very unlikely to be anything. I also had a cleaning/checkup with a new dentist who says my gum pockets are just fine, that I don't need a deep cleaning, and that my fillings look good. He may be a good fit for someone who is very conservative and wants every treatment, but he's not a good fit for me. read more
