My primary doctor is in a remote mountainous community, with limited specialist care. During my last visit I was referred to Dr. Pilkington's office in Merced, CA. for further analysis of a spot on my face as well as a Cyst on my forehead. Upon arrival for my first visit at the end of March 2019 I was greeted by a very pleasant and receptionist. First impressions mean everything and I immediately felt comfortable. I signed in, received my paperwork, sat down and within minutes I was called back for my visit. My total visit was so efficient and quick that I had to complete my paperwork after my exam! My initial consultation and full body exam was performed by Jeremy Hill, P.A., who was extremely welcoming and fully explained everything in detail. His friendly demeanor and professionalism would put any patient's concern to rest. Jeremy scheduled me for surgery with Dr. Pilkington to remove the Cyst on my forehead. Everything else checked out fine. I returned for my scheduled surgery with Dr. Pilkington a few days ago. Upon entering the patient room Dr. Pilkington made me feel at ease, was very pleasant and his bedside manner removed any concerns, as I felt as if I was a 'name' and not a 'number'. The surgery went very fast and I was in and out in a short time. It definitely wasn't a 'snip, clip, thank you', but a caring and thorough procedure. I return in 10 days for follow up. I highly recommend both Jeremy Hill and Dr. Pilkington. read more

I am a client Jill McLoud who shares an office with Pilkington. Although, it took me a few months to get in, Jill is very nice & understanding about skin/acne issues. I am getting injections for my acne scars & its working. Im also using topical ointment & scaring tape that works like magic. I recommend Jill to all my friends with skin problems. If you cancel an appointment it takes about a month to get another appointment, which is the only negative thing. Wait time is less than 15mins. I love how she is able to see me during lunch(12pm-1pm). read more

My son needed to go there for a cyst removal on his face. The staff was very friendly and informative. We were seen in a short period of time and follow-up procedures were done very well. my first visit to dr.P the entire staff is very professional and happy to help and trust me i needed it..i was put in a room so quick i had to finish my paperwork there. then the good doctor walked in..i felt so comfortable and happy that she made a connection with me as a professional. Very rare for anyone to answer the phone at this office. Almost all calls go to voicemail. Calls on voicemail almost always never returned. No complaint about the doctor but he has to know how his office deals with phone calls from patients and the lack of response. read more

This was my first time ever seeing a dermatologist & Dr. Jill made it so easy to address my needs. I felt extremely comfortable with her checking my skin and skin tags I wanted removed. She was quick to ask where I would like my prescriptions filled, and if I had any issues, to come back and see her. I excited for my results and will continue coming to their office. read more

6-9-2016 If your looking here I would find another Dermatologist. I have used Pilkingtons office for nearly five year's and although he is a pleasant person I always leave his office feeling as though he doesnt care about me as a patient, he is just happy I'm filling his pockets. I have only had Dr. Pilkington himself conduct one procedure on me (which ended up that he should not have performed in the first place) I normally always see Jeremy Hill one of the P.A.'s that work in his office. P.A. Hill has always been professional and very good with my Dermatological issues however again I always feel that it is just about money in this office. The procedure Dr. Pilkington performed was removing a large cist in my hand that grew back in less than thirty days. The issue was that after paying his office over $500. out of my pocket after insurance payed, my primary care Dr. refered me to a hand specialist where I learned the cist needed to be removed surgically and the tendon cardirized to prevent it from returning. The specialist informed me a dermatology office is simply not equipped for the procedure and ethically should never have performed the procedure as it could have made the issue much worse. All in all I have to admit Jeremy Hill is a very skilled Dermitological P.A and a straightforward guy but I dont care for the office. I suggest taking your business elsewhere. Jeremy Hill he addressed the cist/Tumor issue I wrote about in my first review, To be 100% honest I was contacted by Jeremy Hill after posting my first review and asked to remove it. Having said that I increased my original 1 star rating to a 3 star rating due to the improved care and willingness to address my issues. When calling about an appointment before receptionist usually would answer but this time around I would always get "person unavailable" throughout the entire day. And then when asking the receptionist about a copay previous times I had one, didn't show interest nor make an effort in researching about my previous visits. Find a dermatologist NOT in Merced! Pilkington scheduled my sons appointment over a month out and called everyone else that walked in after us, before us. Extremely annoying, especially since we've waited so long to get into the doctors. Another issue, we had was, Pilkington was not able to help my son with his planters warts on his feet. My son did have a severe case; however, pilkington tried for a solid year of freezing series, injections of yeast, and eventually tried to cut them out and NOTHING helped and he only made them worse causing scar tissue on the bottom of my sones feet. He wasted our time and money, so my recommendation would be to find a reputable Dermotologist not in Merced! Merced is known for its awful Doctors and pilkington is one you can add to the list! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Pilkington for nearly 17 years and he never disappoints. He has a couple PA's in the office, I've seen them on occasion as well. They are very knowledgeable, friendly. Sometimes the waiting room gets full, but it goes fast. The staff are all nice, they seem to really love their job, I think that's important. Dr. Pilkington also treats my kids. My son needed accutane and he made sure we understood everything before prescribing it, his skin looks great now. I love the office, he's definitely been great for our town! read more

I have gone to Dr. Pilkington's office for many years. I actually was never able to actually see Dr. Pilkington and was forwarded to his nurse practitioner - Jill McLeod. Though Jill was always sweet and had a sense of humor, when I went in with a particular skin concern she laughed it off and said that "it would go away on its own" and it was "just something I was going to have to deal with" the problem persisted and I lived with it for another year even after calling and asking if she could try and help because the problem wouldn't go away. The calls weren't returned. I now began going to a new dermatologist in my new city and they are absolutely floored that she would not treat my condition because it has worsened dramatically. The new dermatologist said if a small amount of research would've been done (like he did) back when I initially voiced my concern I would not have to deal with the painful treatments I am now having every 4 weeks. I am so disappointed in this and wish that my concerns were taken as seriously as I wanted them to be years ago. read more

Everybody in this office is very very irresponsible. My doctor gave me birth control and after one month I told her that I was having really bad side effects including, but not limited to, nausea and depression. She advised me to keep taking the pill hoping that my body would get used to it, she also said that if the side effects persisted, I could call the office and enter code 18 to talk to a nurse. Well, the side effects are killing me, and I've been trying to call code 18 for a whole month. Nobody answers, the automatic voice keeps saying that the nurses are on another line or not available. I talked to the receptionist and told her that I really needed to talk to a nurse to have my prescription changed, the receptionist said that they are busy, and they will get back to me in 72 hours and she hung up. Obviously, nobody ever got back to me and I have been in pain for three months. They take advantage of the fact that there is no other dermatologist in Merced. They do treat patients very poorly, so please just find a dermotologist in a nearby town if you can. read more

I am very surprised at some comments made. I have never felt the concern is money. In fact, it's the opposite , they always advise me about how to spend less money. I asked about product sold AT THEIR OFFICE and was told another thing I could try first that was cheaper and it WASN'T something even sold there! Have been a patient for years and have seen the Dr and both PAs at different times. All 3 VERY personable , and actually LOOK AT ME , not a computer and knowledgeable! Have not dealt with all staff but ones I have have been there for years and are very knowledgable as well and take time to explain things . a few times the wait was long, but worth the wait to see someone I can trust and makes me feel comfortable . I don't understand the other reviews I have always had a great experience at Dr Pilkingtons. Although they are always busy they get me in very quickly. Dr. Pilkington diagnosed me with a skin condition that 3 other doctors had missed. If it wasn't for him I would still be miserable and in pain. I highly recommend his office read more

I am so glad someone told me about dr. Pilkington's office. I've been going to Fresno for years because the wait list to get in use to be so long. Then I was told he got two PA's that did dermatology and I could be seen almost immediately! The wait time was like five min maybe... So crazy because I use to wait at least 30 min for my doctor in Fresno...I was so glad because I got another shingles outbreak and it was way too painful to drive in a car all the way to Fresno. I got in the very next day to Jermey Hill Dr. Pilkington's PA and he was really knowelegable and easy going and got me taken care of right away. He also sent me with a lot of information on shingles that has helped me understand it more. Since then I have also seen Dr.Pilkingtons other PA Jill McLeod and she is very positive and has the greatest smile and also super smart and on top of her game! These PA's are just as good as any Dermontologist and I would highly recommend both of these guys to anyone who wants to be treated with respect, given a accurate diagnosis, and treated properly-ASAP.
