We also bought an older (but nice looking) RAV4 for our daughter as her first car probably 10 years ago from their lot, and she's still driving it with almost 300,000 miles on it. She gets it regularly maintained at this shop and it still looks good! I like going in there, they treat you almost as if you are their friend and it's a real personal touch like in the old days, Andy remembers my name --nobody does that anymore because most people don't seem to care, but they do and it feels good, if I'm being honest. I am surprised to see some people saying it is too expensive and I will probably concede that it is not the bargain basement of car places but neither is the professional level of expertise and what you get for the money. In talking to a coworker of mine in Hampton NH and one of my neighbors about some car issues, they go to the dealerships where they bought their cars and they paid a lot and both had problems with the work, my neighbor always gets a little bit of a rough reception at his car dealership in Peabody and they give him an argument about everything, but that has never been our experience here, not even a hint of any ill treatment, 100% the polar opposite. As I said, we have never felt we overpaid here and have always been satisfied with the repairs. It is hard to find a good mechanic that you trust, and Andy and his wife, who works there also but I believe only a few days a week, are real sweet people and they really love and respect their customers in my opinion. Keep up the good work, guys!

John arrived no more than 10 minutes later to save my day ! He was able to get the lock lug nut off and get my spare tire put on in no time ! They checked it out thoroughly, explained what may be happening, offered to take it right back if things get worse, returned it and charged me...nothing. I'd have expected to pay at least for their time, but perhaps I'm just used to the ways of the big, bad city and modern times. These people are SO knowledgeable and SO accommodating, I can hardly believe my great luck to have found them. (They did come highly recommended.) Oh, and did I mention that they had to drive to NBPT? This is small-town, caring business at its very best. I would not hesitate to recommend Byfield Auto!! JoppaMom

Annoyingly, we'd picked up a nail in a tire while passing though New York and had replaced it, but knew we needed to get all the tires checked before hitting the road back to California. JOHN'S TO THE RESCUE. Not only did John detect the direness of our tire's worn-down state, but he managed to acquire the replacement tires needed at a reasonable price, and squeeze us in to have the car ready the next morning, thus assuring we could get back on the road to California on the safest tires possible and on schedule. John and his wife are generous, professional, and all around lovely people. I wish we had them out here in Los Angeles because I'd take my car there every time. John really provides the kind of personalized service that puts a warm face and a hearty laugh on a small town like Ipswich, MA, and let's his customers drive away feeling safer and happy. A class act. I look forward to returning soon!

Our minivan was on the brink of disaster last Monday morning . My steering wheel was shaking so badly, I knew that I could not wait another minute to get repaired. Who do we all call to reverse the damage that our negligence causes? You know it: get JJ Gianakakis at John's Auto in Ipswich, Massachusetts on the phone! I knew my request was nearly impossible, but I told JJ my problem. He directed me to drop my van off immediately at his shop. Within an hour, JJ diagnosed a significant issue that could've been fatal. I needed new tires... like, three months ago! I figured that JJ would have my van in his shop for a couple of days, if not longer... but my pain was self-inflicted, so I would suffer the inconvenience of going without a vehicle to get my problems fixed by JJ. He moved mountains to get the four new tires. He also expertly repaired a heater problem I have been battling for more than a year. And to help me get my life in order, JJ quickly hooked me up with a long-overdue oil change. Within the span of 12 hours, JJ's wizardry got my car repaired and back on the road to hockey practice at 6:30 PM. How many business owners anticipate your needs? John Gianakakis is an expert -- responsive, honorable, and simply indispensable in our Ipswich community. THANK YOU, J!

I left to do a few errands only to have the power steering go on my return trip home. I thought if I phoned AAA they would definitely come and end up towing the car - leaving me stranded and of all times it was the holiday .. So I thought, just try to get home. If it goes completely at least you will be closer. So I proceeded to drive VERY slowly without taking any turns .... Try that sometime! Haha I got back safely but was unsuccessful parking it... Anyone who saw it would definitely think I'd had some type of liquid lunch ... Tuesday morning I phoned the closest repair shop to me - which is Main St Auto..it's very close but with my health being what it is now too far for me to walk. Rami asked if I could get the car there but not to worry - he would help me get back home. How kind is that! With all the muscle I've got I managed to get the into his parking area. He explained he would go over it and call me. He was truthful in that the actual work probably wouldn't be completed the same day... I saw how busy they are and definitely understood. I was just grateful I could get the car there & the opportunity to have what was wrong repaired. And just as he said, he gave me a ride back to where I live..... He phoned later in the day with the diagnosis along with an estimate of the cost. I felt the price quoted was definitely fair. So yesterday late morning he called and said it was all set. Then asked if I needed a ride to pick it up - I did. He was here within 10 minutes with my car. We drove back, settled the bill and I drove back home - steering perfectly. This was an awesome experience! I was a new & desperate customer and Rami was so kind. He definitely went out of his way to help me and the work done so well. From now on I will be bringing my car there for service !!!
