They communicated honestly, explained what was happening and gave me great confidence throughout the process. I worked with Tom, Jonathan and Chris during my 2 visits and all three could not do enough to service the car and keep me informed - Great Service! I also met the manager Nate who very calmly used the issue as a teachable moment and brought his entire crew over to show them what had happened and how to correct it - great leadership! My longtime mechanic had retired, and I wasn't sure where to go next until I discovered D&G Auto Repair on Yelp! In August 2025, I brought my car in for brake service (pads and rotors replacement). From the very beginning, I felt I was in good hands. Paulo, the manager, responded to my Yelp inquiry almost immediately. He was professional, kind, and attentive. He listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything in a clear, respectful way, something I truly appreciate. I felt a strong sense of trust that he genuinely cared about my car and my safety. When I arrived at the shop, Paulo was just as professional and kind in person. He made me feel confident in my choice to use to D&G Auto Repair. After I left my car, he followed up via text with an estimated bill before starting any work, which gave me peace of mind and control over the process. The shop itself is small but clearly run by expert technicians, and the waiting room is clean and comfortable, a nice bonus! I returned yesterday with a question about a noise I'd heard. Tony, one of the technicians, came out and personally walked around my car with me. He pointed out how clean it looked and even asked about repairs I had done elsewhere. He gave me a mini lesson on body repair which was surprisingly enlightening. He then gave me directions to the nearest Auto Parts store and Car Wash. I booked the shuttle and my early AM appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. Brought my car there and the shuttle van wasn't there. No big deal I was there 15+ minutes early. After about a 1/2 hour the van still wasn't there. my appointment was 1/2 hour into the appointment and they still hadn't started the car. Normally I would leave it for the day. After nearly an hour (the car should have been done at this point!) I asked for the keys and left. After the manager lying about rotating the tires (twice) this was the last straw. I have staggered tires for my Mercedes GLE 350 which means the front tires are a different size than the back tires. The technician moved the back (larger) tires to the front and put the new smaller tires in the rear. When I called back a day later after I noticed this, the Rochester Manager said this could cause a big problem and that I should not drive the car. I was two hours away from Rochester now! We also bought an older (but nice looking) RAV4 for our daughter as her first car probably 10 years ago from their lot, and she's still driving it with almost 300,000 miles on it. I like going in there, they treat you almost as if you are their friend and it's a real personal touch like in the old days, Andy remembers my name --nobody does that anymore because most people don't seem to care, but they do and it feels good, if I'm being honest. I am surprised to see some people saying it is too expensive and I will probably concede that it is not the bargain basement of car places but neither is the professional level of expertise and what you get for the money. In talking to a coworker of mine in Hampton NH and one of my neighbors about some car issues, they go to the dealerships where they bought their cars and they paid a lot and both had problems with the work, my neighbor always gets a little bit of a rough reception at his car dealership in Peabody and they give him an argument about everything, but that has never been our experience here, not even a hint of any ill treatment, 100% the polar opposite. As I said, we have never felt we overpaid here and have always been satisfied with the repairs. It is hard to find a good mechanic that you trust, and Andy and his wife, who works there also but I believe only a few days a week, are real sweet people and they really love and respect their customers in my opinion.
