This place is amazing! We were on vacation when we had a serious issue with our vehicle. Not only did they take our vehicle in right away after we called, but they fixed it in record time, allowing us not to sacrifice even a good portion of our vacation day!!! On top of that, they didn't try to take advantage of us knowing we were on vacation. In fact, they saved us $ by figuring out how to bypass having to order a dealer part in order to fix the problem. This place is a major shit show. I had one car in because it failed inspection for the emergency break, after spending $1500 on "the fix" it still failed inspection. I had my Kia Soul in for an oil change and when I got it home there were two empty beer cans under the passenger seat. Nice lunch for one of the mechanics I guess. I hope he also had a sandwich though I doubt it. Two weeks ago I brought my daughters truck in because the fan kept running after it was turned off, causing her battery to die. I mentioned that this series of trucks have a known problem with the temperature sending units. Did they replace it ... Uh no, they put a new battery in and said it was good to go. One week that lasted before her battery died again. Today I called again and told them to replace both the temperature sending unit AND the thermostat. The owner told me that they .... and I'm quoting here .... "Don't like to be told what to do" WTAF? If you did what I asked in the first place, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. The brain trust drove right by this place years ago, did not drop a package off. read more

I've been to a few rodeos and a county fair....(i.e. been driving for 50+ years.) I have the utmost respect and confidence in Joe, Tim and the team. They will tell you what you need to do and when, and will always give the most cost effective advice. Note: I have been dealing with them over 10 years, and 3 family cars. More than once, i have observed them refusing to do something (oil change, part replacement, etc) if they believed that it wasn't necessary, or could be covered under a warranty claim. I have tried other repair shops in the area, and always left a little 'queasy'. (...was I just ripped off?...do they know what they're doing?) ...But, never once with Midas in Newburyport. I feel no need to revisit the dealer, or a tire, brand or part specialist. They do it all. And, in my opinion, at a best price. read more

I had an assessment on a noise I heard in my car. I brought the car in right away to be looked at. I felt that the service was honest, reliable and was a better than expected turn around time. They have very professional and friendly staff there which also goes a long way. I will be returning to this location for future service on my car for sure. read more

I have been using Midas for years and they have always treated me right. They have installed many dual exhausts on my trucks, bought tires there, had alignments, oil changes. I have also stopped in to have the air checked in the tires, and Larry, the manager there, is always accommodating. Of many auto shops here in Waterville, I consider them the most honest in the area. I've come in here multiple times for an oil change, and basic maintenance on my car, and I must say, these guys are awesome! I know absolutely nothing about cars and I feel confident bringing my car here knowing that they aren't going to screw me over on anything. Joe, who I believe is the owner is very knowledgeable about cars, and brought me to the back to actually show me what was wrong underneath my car, since I didn't have a clue what he was trying to tell me in the office. They are very reasonably priced for an oil change, and as long as I'm living here in Newburyport, I won't take my car anywhere else! read more

I used to go here for oil changes on my company car and personal car. The last time I was there they told me I needed new rear brakes and tires. Because it is a company car I had to get other quotes and those places said I did not need tires, but did need brakes. I had the company spend money with another company because they did not try to dupe me into tires, unlike this Midas. I went back to this Midas today for an oil change. The guy at the desk told me upon check out that he loses money on oil changes and if I am not going to have other work done there, then there is no point in having me as a customer. As if it is hard to find someone else to work on my car. See ya. Two stars because they didn't screw up an oil change, but did try to dupe me, then fired me as a customer. read more

It's hard to find an honest, fairly priced mechanic but these guys are the best. I've been bringing my car here for years and always received great customer service and a fair price. I brought my car in recently as another mechanic told me I needed a pricey repair, and Midas told me I didn't need this repair. They could've easily "fixed" it and charged me but they're honest, hard working guys and didn't take advantage of the situation. read more

Two days now - 1st day - "Can't do it today can you bring it in tomorrow and ill definitely get it done. - Joe wouldn't let me get to it, had to prioritize what makes him money" "I can do it Friday, guarantee ill get it done". 2nd day - No phone call, nothing. No work done - something that would have taken an hour. Car sitting out back unlocked with the door open. Now I can't get it done until next week when I needed it this weekend - hence why I even brought it there. read more

We came in here, white knuckled, after our jeep Cherokee began swerving on the wet highway. They took it right in with a very friendly front staff. The mechanic, Tim, took it for a test drive then within five minutes diagnosed it as two bald back tires. I had purchased the tires within the last year so he immediately called the chain where I had purchased them and explained the situation. We were traveling from out of town so he called enterprise and hooked us up with a car for discounted rate. He went to bat for us with the tire store and they determined it was a manufacturer's default. I can't say enough about this guy. If we didn't live two hours away this would be our go to mechanic without a doubt! read more

The customer service here was a life saver during a snowstorm the other day. My car was dragging something that was making it difficult to drive in the snow, I couldn't reverse. I live pretty far away, but work in the area, so was nervous about trying to drive back. It was almost closing time, and every other service station I called either didn't answer the phone, or said that they didn't have time. They told me to come right in. It only required a simple fix of a few clips, but to take the time to help and not close shop or turn me away like all the others was a huge relief. I'd definitely bring my business back here. Impeccable service! Was told I needed new brake pads and a caliper for my 2012 Jeep Compass from the people at Valvoline in Salisbury...came here and within one hour of drop off received a call saying it was a tire part, not my brakes at all, and the issue I had was dangerous to drive. All repairs done within 5 hours and at a MUCH lower price than originally estimated! On top of all this, Tim was personable and I got a feeling he genuinely cares about his customers and the condition of their vehicles. Will definitely be back for routine oil changes (buy 4, get one free!) as well as any other needs. read more

These guys are the honest mechanics you search for and so rarely find. I went in after being told by another local mechanic that I needed a lot more work than I actually did and after receiving a total misdiagnosis at a hefty price. Joe and the team found the real issue in my car which was minor in comparison and had it fixed within an hour at a fraction of the cost. They also found another issue the other guys didn't find and I'm thankful as my car is in much better shape because of it. If I could give zero stars I would. I made an account just so I could post this review. I took my car to Joe for an oil change and asked one of the mechanics to look at my brakes because my car was vibrating every time I braked. He told me I needed new brakes and rotars and said it would cost over $800 (excuse me????). I took my car to another mechanic that a friend recommended and they told me that my brakes we absolutely FINE and that I only needed new front rotars totaling up to $225!!! I'm so happy I got the second opinion or I would be out of $600. read more

I was driving to a function when I suddenly hear scraping noises under my car. I pull off the highway and into this Midas -- which had just closed. Luckily, Tim was still there, getting ready to leave, and without question brings my car in to take a look at it. He declared it an easy fix and had it ready for me in 10 minutes (while I got to wait with his family and play with his puppy!). I needed some exhaust repairs, a new battery, oil change and a tune up. The mechanic noticed some frame problems that would eventually run me a lot of cash and advised me in detail what I would be in for before doing all the work I was requesting. His advise was to save the money and buy a better vehicle and that's exactly what I'm doing. Not every shop would give up a sale to help a customer like this. This place is FANTASTIC. Not only are they kind, funny, and helpful people, they are honest. After I first came here to get my snow tires put on, I decided to call them today to let me know if a price quote I was getting from a local dealer (I no longer live in the area) was appropriate for the work I needed done. These guys didn't just tell me to come to them for a better deal; they told me that what I needed done was likely under warranty, so I could actually get it for free from a dealer! The man I spoke with actually went so far as to verify the guarantee on Honda's website for me. Awesome people, awesome service all around.
