In and out. These guys run an efficient shop. Did the work exactly as expected and were done fast.

Took my daughters vehicle in for a visual inspection. I wrote down a list of possible causes, including the engine water pump. The gentleman I spoke with was very short tempered with me informing me that they didn't need a google search of what was wrong with the vehicle. At first, they he was trying to tell me nothing was wrong with the vehicle, but I insisted they listen to it again. After listening a second time they called me back and told me she would need a new AC compressor, to the tune of 1500 dollars. I told them, not to proceed and that we were going to shop around. When I picked the vehicle up they charged me 200 dollars for a visual inspection. I was floored. I have a Mercedes and the dealer charges less than that for a visual inspection. My personal foreign auto mechanic charges 100. When I looked at recommended services, it listed AC compressor, freon and a new engine water pump. This is a 2008 Mazda 3. Well I went home and watched a video of a man replace an AC Compressor in less than an hour and ordered the entire AC Compressor kit, engine water pump and a drive train belt from geek parts for $320.00 , total. These are all easy fixes, nothing complicated. If I can get the parts that cheap, Sullivan tire can get them cheaper. Times are tough and people are getting laid off left and right. You would think that Sullivan Tire would refrain from price gouging its customers, so they don't lose business. I will no longer go to them. i get a better deal of tires through Town Fair but I figured I'd give them a shot because they employ locals but I'm tired of being subjected to highway robbery, no pun intended. read more

Highly recommend! My wife and I were headed up to Gloucester on our honeymoon and broke down halfway. We were towed up to Gloucester and left the car overnight, with a note. Thankfully we were staying in an Airbnb close to Sullivan Tire, so we were able to walk there that evening. We got in touch with Sullivan Tire first thing the next morning and the gentleman we spoke to was so nice and extremely helpful. They got the car right in, assessed the damage and it was done in less than 2 hours. They congratulated us on our marriage, even saying "this must be the happy couple". The staff at Sullivan truly treated us like family and helped us turn a honeymoon that was off to a rocky start, into a stress free and memorable experience. Thank you Sullivan Tire!!! read more

The moral of this story is that a young female should NEVER take a car into this shop by herself. I feel fairly certain I was taken advantage of because I was young and female and they assumed I didn't know much about cars. I was charged almost $500 for work that was never done. I will NEVER return to this Sullivan Tire location. I took my car to Sullivan Tire soon after I moved to Gloucester. I should have done better research at the time but chose Sullivan Tire because my husband is a BU employee and we were able to get an employee discount. The first time I took my car in for an oil change the man I spoke with gave me a really hard time about the employee discount for BU but ended up taking a small amount off the total cost. Later, because I'd had a generally positive experience getting my oil changed there, I took the car in to have the ball bearings in the rear replaced. I knew that the problem was the ball bearings because I was familiar with sound from a year or so earlier when I'd needed to have the front ball bearings replaced. They charged me $483.99 and when I picked up the car and drove it home there was a new vibration and terrible sound. I called back and said I'd need to bring the car back to have the new sound and vibration fixed and the person on the phone suggested I not bring it in saying that what I was complaining about was most likely not a safety issue. I insisted that the car should not have a new problem after being serviced and that I would be bringing it in to be fixed. About three months later the sound of the ball bearings grinding was back. I was home for the holidays and took me car in to a garage run by a friend of my parents' where I'd always had the car serviced before moving to Gloucester. They reported that neither of the ball bearings in the back had been replaced recently as both were badly rusted. They also let me know that the repair should have cost no more than $350-$375. My father has since been in touch with the local shop and then with the upper management at Sullivan Tire after this location did not respond to his calls or emails. They sent my father $360 which, I'll emphasize is LESS THAN the amount of money I was cheated out of. I guess something is better than nothing. read more

On 2 occasions i have had a low tire pressure warning in my car. Though I did not have an appointment and did not buy my tires at Sullivan Tire they immediately took my car in and check all 4 tires, filled them to the correct pressure and sent me on my way without even a minimal charge. The most recent stop there was 2 days ago and I was assisted by a friendly and knowledgeable technician named Angel. Thank you. read more

Winter of 2011 I had my brakes replaced at Sullivan tire in Gloucester. After they replaced them they still didn't work. I took it back to Sullivan tire and they said that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. They said they wouldn't charge for the labor as long as I paid for the cost of the part. The person on the phone told me that the part would be $33. Later that day, a different person called to tell me the car was done and that it would be $75. When I told him that I had been told that it would cost much less he did not honor the original price I had agreed to before the work on the car was done. My car is back in the shop (a different one) right now because it needs its brakes replaced again. They also said that the master cylinder was bad. It has been only a little over a year since I had these things done at Sullivan. I don't even do much driving. I don't recommend this place. They only reason I gave this place a second star is because they were, at least, very friendly. Plus, they gave me a ride to work. read more

I went here with my car and was told I needed upwards of $1000 worth of repairs. I was skeptical of this and brought it to another local repair shop, where they told me the car was in great condition and all I needed was a small new part due to a piece of metal that had fallen off. For $130 the repairman offered to weld me a new piece of metal instead of having to order an entire new part (once that work is done I hope to give them a review with 5 stars). Be careful and I would not reccomend coming to this business unless you are very knowledgeable about cars and can call them out if they are ripping you off. read more

This is not your average garage! I was in Gloucester visiting with a family member when I decided my car had to be fixed immediately. They took me the same day I called which was a Saturday. They were very busy too so it's not like they're lacking for business. They fixed my car for significantly less than other garages I had spoke with. That was great. However, it's the employees that make this garage. The manager is incredibly nice and has a very honest vibe about him. He doesn't try to sell you anything but what your car really needs. My car ended up having a problem that was caused by another car repair shop that looked at it earlier in the day. These guys went above and beyond to figure out what the problem was and then fixed it on the spot, despite it being 15 minutes past closing time. They were all so nice and real. It was a refreshing change from the condescending mechanics I'm used to. Obviously this company takes good care of them because these employees were truly happy to be there and it was a Saturday! Like I said the manager was incredibly professional and calming even when I was panicking about what happened at the first garage my car had been at. Also, I realized after leaving that they had fixed a problem with my windshield wipers......for FREE and without ever telling me and boasting about it. This is not your average garage. Despite living in Peabody, I will definitely be back and will be sharing this hidden gem with others. If your sick of the lies and air of superiority that goes along with car repair, go directly to this particular Sullivan Tire because it is beyond worth it. I'm so happy with the interactions I had with every single employee today! read more

very impressed! i spent 3 hours in their waiting room earlier this week so i got to observe their customer service with a variety of people and hear the techs talking with each other. this is an honest shop and their pricing is fair. they have a lot of repeat customers that have been going there for years. there was a circumstance where they could have done a more expensive fix but since the customer was a college student, they worked out an acceptable cheaper fix for him. the work done on my vehicle was top notch. highly recommend! read more

I love this place! We bought our tires from Sullivan Tire and we would never go anywhere else. Their service is incredible and I think their prices are reasonable as well. Just today, I walked out to a flat tire on a car that is being put on a truck tomorrow. It was 5 o'clock and they close at 6, but Todd told me to come right in and they'd try their best to get it fixed in time. Sure enough, 45 minutes later I was driving away with a good as new tire! We get our oil changes here and they also put new brakes in our Ford Freestyle. Their work is great and they are super friendly and helpful. I totally recommend them! read more

My son had a flat tire and i told him to bring it over to Sullivan tire to see if it could be repaired. He dropped the tire off and was told that he would be called to let him know. approx. 5 hours later they called him and said it couldn't be repaired and that they could order another tire ( none in stock) if he wanted a new one. ($150). I stopped off and picked it up and brought it to another local tire repair place on Eastern Ave. and after about 5 minutes they told me that not only can it be fixed but if i waited 20 minutes it would be all set at a cost of $30. I was told that if they had taken the tire off of the rim they would have known that it was fixable. read more

This is one of the worst business experiences I've ever had. I made an appointment on a Tuesday. Was told the tires I wanted were discontinued but they would have then in on Friday and they would be all set for Saturday. 8am I showed up for my appointment and was told they didn't have the tires and I'd have to wait until Tuesday to have my tires replaced. This is unacceptable. They obviously knew Friday that the tires wern't in. At that point they should have called me to reschedule my appointment. I would have been OK with that. read more

Sullivan Tire is a family owned business who has the best customer service and repair work around. The manager was nice enough to fix a headlight bulb for me and did not charge me for even the bulb. It fell out, melted the wires and the head light frame and cost $844 to fix. When I told Sullivan about it , without hesitation they paid me in full for the repair work. They are a wonderful company whose ethics and responsiveness are stellar. I highly recommend them to anyone needing to service their car and who does not want to deal with the rigamarole of dealerships. read more

Todd worked with me over the phone first to special order and ship the tires to the shop that I wanted, at no charge to me. The tires were there and ready to put on...all four and aligned for exactly the price and two hour time that I was quoted.
