This is followup to review in 2023. Nothing has changed , maybe worse. We repeat order because they have garlic sauce side order ($2.95) and bok choy, and reasonable prices. The bad: not yet rancid but stale, overused cooking oil; quantities often less than full, food just not that good, skimp on quality cooking sauces and substitute soy sauce, carrots and other cheaper veggies in excessive quantities. The good: prices, timely delivery, accurate orders. Not enough to offset their corner cutting read more

The food was mediocre, but the biggest disappointment was the customer service. Even though this was a takeout order, the staff was incredibly rude and unpleasant to deal with. The experience left a bad impression, and I won't be ordering from them again. read more

I would like to start out by saying I keep to myself and have never left anyone a bad review. I first ordered from this restaurant years ago and haven't ordered from there again until today because the delivery driver had the nerve to ask me for a tip when I had already left a tip on the seamless app. Either way, a tip isn't mandatory and it's beyond rude to ask for one. But today I figured I'd give them another chance and after waiting a long time for my order I called the restaurant who said that they never received it. The woman who answered the phone then asked me to send her screen shots of my order and order number. She then asked me how much did I tip. I then told her to forget my order and cancelled my order with seamless. This restaurant is beyond rude and from what I remember about the food during my first order, it isn't very good. read more

I ordered from David King when my daughter attended college nearby. That was 8 years ago and I still haven't found a Chinese Restaurant with food that tasted as good as David King. read more

under seasoned food. thoroughly below average. quick service however, from ordering to doorstep was 20 min. ordered veggie lo mein, fried rice, gyoza, sesame chicken, bone less spare ribs, egg rolls. boneless spare ribs were meaty delicious pieces, egg rolls were good, everything else was 5/10 at best. should've listened to reviews! read more

We placed an order with them from Uber Eats. One thing you should know is they deliver to Uber eats not an Uber eats driver. I called the restaurant right after place the order and told him it had to be here by 2 o'clock. My wife needs to eat by 2 o'clock at 1:56. I called them again to find out where the food was and it looked like they didn't even make the food yet. I had to get a refund from Uber eats and the food finally arrived around 2:30 when I placed the order at 1:15 way too long for an order of dumplings to get to our our house I won't be ordering for them again maybe eat at the restaurant there's never been a problem there but I'm not gonna order from them again. read more

I've ordered delivery several times and each and every time the food arrived on time , hot, delicious and accurate. I'll order from them again for sure. read more

Updated Review--We have ordered many times!!! David King's is the best!! We ordered the Triple Green Prawn for the first time and General Tso's chicken for a change and they were both fantastic!!! The food as always is delicious, great flavor, and prepared exactly as ordered. The shrimp, chicken, snow peas, broccoli and green beans are always very fresh. Great garlic sauce!!! The staff and the delivery are fast and excellent. No MSG in their food! Thank you Sandy, ViVi and staff!!!-H.W. read more

Ordered four lunch specials and did not receive or was I given the option for fried rice, soup etc...First and last time here. The food is OK but not worth being shortchanged with the lunch menu P.S. The lunch portion is extremely small.. read more

I'm a resident of White Plains for 20 plus year and David King has been around as long as i can remember. I have frequented this restaurant dozens of times, as well as ordered take out and delivery for gatherings and just myself as well. They have always listened to my requests, been accurate with my orders, and been courteous, accommodating, and friendly, (especially Sandy!). Delivery and take out are quick and the food is hot. There is such a wide variety of foods to choose from. They even satisfy my picky nieces desire for pork, soup, special noodles and unfamiliar,(to me), sushi/seafood items. David King happily accommodates my vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. My favorite dishes are vegetable dumplings, spicy cold sesame noodles, steamed firm tofu (sauce on the side), baby bok choy,in a white garlic sauce, brown rice, miso and spicy hot and sour soup. David King's food is delicious and plentiful. I love that it is NOT too salty nor too oily & the vegetables are colorful and cooked properly. The atmosphere is cozy, calm and inviting. Tables have cloth napkins, cloth coverings and delicious tea. So many restaurants in White Plains turnover and sadly just come and go. Thank goodness David King has been successful and remains. They also survived the long pandemic!! read more

The place can be hard to notice at first, but I was greeted very kindly and I got complementary Jasmine tea that was perfect in temperature. I got a veggie egg roll that was super crispy and the sauce was very good. The sesame tofu was what I hoped it was as far as texture of the tofu and the flavor of the sauce was the perfect amount of sweetness. It felt very welcoming and I would love to come back to do takeout read more

We had delivery and we ordered dim sum unfortunately it arrived immediately and I know to dim sum takes a little longer time. In my humble opinion I believe this is what you guy at Costco or BJ's The shrimp shumai was round chopped up not so good nuked . Scallion pancake very crunchy no flavor very disappointed the wonton soup mystery me the deal was very Joey the hot and sour soup was good but nothing to rave about in my opinion read more

I can give this place a healthy 4 stars instead of my original thoughts on 3 stars simply because post-pandemic, places have struggled. So I'm light of that I'm giving my review based on the taste of the food we ordered to goo and the speed in which it was made. I'm sorry but the fried rice was not prepared fresh at all. The rice had a soggy consistency compared to the countless orders of fried rice I've ordered across many states. The noodles were also soggy as though they'd been sitting around waiting on be added to whichever dish was ordered requiring them. I like to give a place a chance but there was almost zero effort put into the creation of the dishes. Taste was blah to say the least. Nice to experience a neighborhood place but definitely won't be returning read more

delivery was fast but boy I was surprised to see how few wontons were in a large soup! I called and the woman on the phone said" yes that's how many we put in", it was a bucket of water. this was my first and last time ordering from them. read more

They are consistently excellent, consistently fresh, consistently so friendly. Very glad to have them across the street. One simply needs to know how to order food and we avoid a lot of sauce. we always ask for lighter sauces and lighter curries etc. Thank you to David King NY Chinese. Yum. read more

David King has been demoted to Earl. Quite disappointing experience. I had much fonder memories of this place that were changed fairly quickly. I stopped in here for lunch with my wife. We had high hopes based on our experiences from years ago. The hot and sour soup was peppery and fairly bland. We both had sushi roll lunch specials. The sushi rice tasted a little dry, although the fish seemed fresh. There was not a lot of spice in the spicy tuna and you don't get many extras with the lunch. It's easy enough to go down the road to Haiku for really high quality sushi at the same price. This place is better known for its Chinese food. If the hot and sour soup was any indication, I wouldn't go back for just Chinese food. I would only come back for convenience. The service was very, very attentive and the place was pretty empty - especially for lunch time on a weekday. read more

I've tried giving this place a chance 3 different times and each time they mess up my order/give me someone else food. On top of that they are so rude when I try and resolve it. Not worth it when there's other Chinese restaurants on Mamaroneck Avenue. read more

Went here off a coworker recommendation. Maybe it was an off day but never again. Got chicken wings and pork friend rice and my friend got spare ribs. The rib were sad and weirdly shaped. Chicken was tiny and not fried well. Rice was like and flavorless. I was so disappointed! read more

Very average Chinese food. 2-3 stars is appropriately rated based on value and quality of food.

Egg rolls were good. Hot and sour soup had such a strange after taste I couldn't even eat it. My spicy tuna roll was not fresh. Way too much rice and the tuna tasted funny. Really praying I don't get food poisoning. Will not be ordering again. read more

番 Herein is one of my favorite places to come to for YEARs. This is one of the few restaurants who is consistently VERY GOOD. I made a big order - three different orders of Chicken: The Chinese General General Tso's, Paradise, and Capital. It was BETTER THAN EVER. I knew a Homeless Man nearby once, and the Lady gave me some money to give to him. Narcissism is very common now. Do not believe someone when they come only to complain! If you feel that This is the absolute FINEST Food in The White Plains, PERIOD. Have a Kind day, and please Consider David King's Chinese Restaurant for service. They are the BEST! I have always had a Good and Wholesome meal here. I once came in here and the Lady was picking out the vegetables herself. T They have always been Kind tae me and have been Kind tae my friends. Make no mistake: They are GOOD Chinese Folk who work here and who run the place. Herein is a Traditional White Plans Algonquian Westchester Area Treasure. I wasn't going to order food tonight, but I might now that I see these retarded "reviews". Long Live the "David King's" Authority. Long live the Real China. Love Live Friendship - Never let Friendship die. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I love Chinese food but this place almost made me puke. The food felt nasty and old. I actually threw most of the food in the garbage because I felt disgusted. I ordered the General Tso chicken and it was HORRIBLE! The chicken was hard probably very old chicken. The crab Rangoon was empty and extreme greasy. Bad bad bad experience I wouldn't feed my worst enemy food from this place. I'm sorry but if you can't cook you should close. I paid like $40 for my food because I order with uber eats and it was AWFUL. read more

Super late delivery. They fundamentally did not care at all when. I called about it. The food is fine. There are other places. Go there instead. read more

Don't do it. The food is TERRIBLE. When I ordered, I specifically wrote that I had a shrimp allergy on the order. They delivered me shrimp lo mein, instead of the chicken that I ordered. When I called, the lady told me she would send me a chicken lo mein and to throw out the shrimp one. When the second delivery arrived, (30 minutes later,) the delivery guy refused to give me the new food unless I exchanged the old food. I told him it was in the garbage. He actually made me go into the garbage and scoop the shrimp lo mein into a bag before he would give me the chicken. Just no. read more

Do not, I repeat, do not order the sushi from this place. We ordered $160 worth of food, and threw away at least half of it as it was so gross. Additionally, the chicken and beef "specialty" boxes were so bad the kids wouldn't even eat it without a fight. There are other places to spend your money, find them and avoid this place like the plague. read more

We've been craving roasted duck for the longest time. In Brooklyn, half a roasted duck is normally around $9. Here it was around $25 with rice and soup included... first off the duck was NOT fresh. It was clearly microwaved and all scrunched up because of that. You never microwave anything roast bc it'll become hard to chew. Also it didn't even taste that good... should've known it wasn't going to be great but the fact that they microwaved it was shocking. read more

Very quick delivery this shit long tong soup was very good so are the eggrolls chicken with mixed vegetables with mediocre at best as well as the most support. Overall I would say it's totally average read more

I've eaten here once before last year during 2021 this year I decided to stop by and pick up an order. I ordered one tuna avocado roll and one salmon avocado roll. The tuna was very fresh however the salmon had gone bad and you can taste how fishy it was. I gave them a call to let them know that there salmon had gone bad. I would hate for anyone to get sick. I am disappointed but I do hope that they redeem themselves. read more

Ok. Let's set the tone. How do you say terrible in Chinese? I went there with my parents, on a Friday night just to grab something to munch on. The food was somewhat good, points for presentation. Dumplings are OK. But the breading on the pork dumplings was ridiculous! I asked for pork dumplings, not KFC fried chicken. Anyway, we had our entrées, which were all right but nothing special. We ask them for some of our food to go, and they hand us the containers and tell us to do it ourselves. The staff weren't busy or anything, they were just playing on their phones. Sad. It used to be such a great place. But I hope management is reading this review. GOODBYE, DAVID KING IF YOU EVER CONSIDER BECOMING A GOOD RESTAURANT AGAIN, CALL ME!!!! UNTIL THEN, MY FAMILY AND I WILL STAND BY CHOP STIX! read more

Sorry sushi fans but I just don't like the stuff! I would consider myself to be very adventurous when it comes to food and I've definitely sampled my fair share but I can never find anything I like. My girlfriend, on the other hand, loves sushi; she just can't get enough. So, we always end up going to these sushi spots and I have to order chicken teryaki or any of the other two non-sushi menu items I have to choose from. Needless to say, it gets pretty frustrating to see 8,021 menu choices for sushi but only two other things. I guess it's my own damn fault for going to a sushi joint and trying to order something else but c'mon!! I'm just trying to be nice to my girlfriend by letting her get a spicy fish egg roll or whatever else she wants. So, imagine my reaction when I see the menu for David King. My lady can get her sushi and I can get some tasty Chinese food and even Crab Rangoon! SOLD! Now, I know this is not the only place to try this mix of Chinese/Japanese but they seem to do it pretty well. I was very satisfied with my spicy orange chicken and beef and my better half said the sushi was pretty darn good. Maybe it's not 'real' sushi but I could care less because I'm not about to try it...The Chinese is definitely good and as long as she gets her fix, I'm happy. Basically, I guess I won't be eating chicken teryaki again anytime soon... read more

Decent food, Ive had both their Chinese and Japanese food. Sushi 3 for 2 deal is good for lunch. Quality seems to be a little better if you sit down rather then take out. Friendly staff. read more

David King - Chinese Near Me - White Plains, New York

The only people who don't like David King or complain about it simply expect them to serve you like you're royalty. I've known them for years, they don't mean to be rude unless you were rude or snobby first. Secondly, look at the prices, you are getting a hell of a deal for their food and you expect it to be Texas de Brazil in there. The sushi is amazing and you get 3 rolls for 10 bucks. Please take your complaints and snobbishness elsewhere. read more

I've been going to David King for about 16 years now, and in that time, I've seen and experienced a gradual decline in quality of food, service, and "atmosphere." Their soups are watered down and flavorless, and anything with a brown sauce (General Tso, garlic sauce, etc) all taste identical, and I have a lingering doubt over the freshness of everything I've had in recent memory. The owners/managers are pleasant enough, but the restaurant itself doesn't feel very clean and it's not well lit. On the plus side, their egg rolls are substantial, and their pork fried rice is the real stand out--tasty, fresh, and plenty of diced roast pork throughout. read more

i ordered the delivery home - will not order again, its too overpriced for the bad food they serve. The food is tasteless, the soup didn't have any meat at all (i paid almost 8$ for it!!) and they gave me just water with some tiny hints of meat. Choose another delivery, don't waste your money on this one read more

Dear owner.please ask cook to cook the majority in oyster sauce and put carrots and mushroom in....the house lo mein is too salty and had no vegetables and 4 little shrimp...please do a better job.i paid 34 dollars total and im very sad read more

Just placed an order for takeout. They have good service I ordered my food it was quick, warm, and a good price. The food: I ordered the grilled teriyaki. It smelled good but the chicken tastes so fake and rubbery. I couldn't eat another bite of my MAIN DISH. The miso soup that came along was so salty why bother with that. The rice was edible at least and not much damage they could do with a salad. read more

Ordered delivery and it was at my door in about 20 minutes. The food always arrives hot and fresh and delicious. Seriously my go-to for delivery. I can get like 3 meals out of $20 worth of food. Ordered for take out. Wait was around 20 mins from when I ordered online. Dumplings were good and flavorful. Rice with chicken and garlic could've been more flavorful. Wish could order things spicier. Will try more items. Thumbs up. read more
