I can totally understand the difficulties that go with operating a restaurant in these times but as a restaurant, it has to be the goal to make consistently good food and deliver a great customer experience on each and every order. China Garden WP falls flat on both of these counts for the last several orders. Orders placed online are somehow 'lost' according to the restaurant when you call 90 minutes + after placing the order. The call to follow up the order results in a series of excuses and matter of fact "you have to accept our service" attitude. In the mood for no fuss, no frills, affordable Chinese take-out? This is the place! We placed an order for pick-up on their website, which was easy, with the option to pay at the restaurant. The employees working there were friendly and attentive. We did not stay to eat in the restaurant, but from a first glance, it had tables, seating, and was clean. You can tell that the restaurant is a bit aged, but it is well maintained. We ordered hot and spicy (their version of hot and sour) soup, dim sum, chicken fried rice, crab rangoon, and orange chicken. Everything was delicious and comforting, exactly what you expect from Chinese take-out. Because we had to wait (not long, it was maybe 5 minutes), they gave us a free eggroll, too. Service was super slow around lunch time, noon. Ordered one of the lunch specials; lo mein and it came with a egg roll and pork fried rice. The portions were generous but it honestly lacked flavor. Don't know about the unsanitary criticisms, but we've not encountered any in the several takeouts we've ordered. Food is usual Chinese takeout quality, good sized portions, plenty of grease and MSG but very tasty and delicious. We re-order because it is cheap and has variety. As another reviewer noted, egg rolls are excellent and CHEAP! If you don't go looking for David Chang quality, this stuff will satisy a hunger even if everything else kills you. read more

The last time I ate a full meal at China Garden was at least 2 years ago, when you could still go there for a sit down meal. During this pandemic, they are only offering takeout, but for that I'm glad, bcause they offer one item I can recommend as a perfect quick bite while waiting at any of the nearby bus stops. There egg rolls are amazing. They're light tasting, fresh, not too spicy, not too bland, and deep fried to a perfect golden brown on the outside, thoroughly cooked thru on the inside, in the space of about 3 minutes. 2 egg rolls are under $3.50 and should fill up anyone with a normal appetite in a hurry. Typical tiny Chinese restaurant that you see all over America. Small, about six tables no waitress service order at the counter and they will call you up when it's ready. Our food came out hot and there was plenty of it. We ordered- egg drop/wonton soup, steamed potstickers, shrimp in lobster sauce combo which came with fried rice and egg roll, walnut shrimp combo. I would give negative stars if possible... but it's not. To keep it short and sweet I found thick curly hair in my food! When I went back to return my food, I was greeted by a lady named TANYA with a nasty attitude and no managerial skills. She was extremely rude, she took my food and just threw it in the garbage after just taking a glance at it. I asked for my money back and got it. As I'm walking towards the exit, she mutters "there was no hair in the food". I went back and asked her to repeat herself.. she said "I said, that's not my hair its CHINESE hair." I'm guessing she's of Hispanic decent. I was shocked and appalled at all of the words that continued to come out of her mouth. I will never return here. After passing by this place several times, and turned off by the construction that is always on this street and making it difficult to cross the street, I finally decided to give it a go after reading positive reviews from fellow Yelpers. I was happily reassured that my Yelpers delivered. The food here, albeit a little greasy, was actually quite tasty. I had the shrimp with broccoli lunch special, with medium shrimp in a garlic sauce and very crispy broccoli as I requested. It was a huge portion. The hot and sour soup was too starchy..not a fave. Service was friendly and efficient. The place was immaculate for a fast food joint, with nonexistent décor and towards the window, two seriously slanted tables with benches at a slant. The wontons for the wonton soup were fresh, the chicken and garlic sauce has great well rounded flavor, and the best chicken lo mein I've had in years, and I've tried a lot of places looking for a delicious lo mein. I moved to White Plains 6 1/2 years ago and since then have been on a mission to find what I consider great Chinese takeout. So far, everything in this town had me disappointed. Every place I ordered from was too oily, not enough veggies and protein in the fried rice, dry chicken, etc. I thought I'd moved to a city with no decent Chinese and I had just about given up my search. Then, some co-workers ordered takeout from here and I decided to try it out. My prayers have been answered! This is hands down the BEST Chinese takeout around. I like a variety of different things from Chinese restaurants (boneless spare ribs, egg foo young, chow mei fun noodles [which are not very common], etc.) and my biggest peeve is when I'm given an egg roll that drips with grease. NOT THE CASE HERE! Every time I order, I get my food within an hour (and that's if I order at peak lunch hours or on a Friday night) and it's always served hot with nothing missing. I've admittedly never done takeout from here so I'm not sure if this is a place where you could sit down to eat, but it's the best Chinese delivery I've had in this area in the last six years! read more

They then sent me the wrong order for delivery and when I called to ask for the right order, they said there was no delivery guy until 6:30 p.m., mind you it was 2:30 p.m. The "manager" was rude and said she would refund me .70. This is gonna be an extremely disappointing one. My friend ordered food there 2 days ago and found a roach in his food. Not at the top but at the BOTTOM. Can you imagine the disgust? Here you are eating away and you're halfway done and you look down and see a roach. Of course he took it back and got his money but then they had the audacity to ask if he wanted them to make him a new plate! Absolutely not! Who knows how many he didn't see while eating! i dont agree with some of the really bad reviews cause china garden in white plains is a good small space chinese food joint that has the typical menu and the interior decor that is just like any other chinese take out joint . i personally like the food here as it was my place 2 to 3 times a week when i was home bound for 4 months a few years back due to my serious issue of being lazy . the menu is fairly standard with egg rolls, ribs, wonton soup, lo mein , chow mein, fried rice and the basic, chicken ,pork, beef, dishes , etc. overall food is good and they never screwed up on my orders which i always picked up in person . the chicken in garlic sauce with mix veggies is very good , steamed veggie dumplings also very good , the egg rolls are decent most of the time but the ribs are too dry in my opinion .i am giving 3.5 stars on my yelp meter as china garden and i got to know each other very well back in the day and nights. read more
