After a week of coughing and sneezing I called Dr Suh's office prepared to beg for an appointment that day. It turned out I didn't need to do much begging...there were able to fit me in with their Physician Assistant an hr later. Hurray! I don't take pleasure in visiting any dr, but this office is the exception. Everyone (and seriously everyone) is sooo nice! Friendly receptionist, super sweet nurse and Sharon the Physician Assistant was wonderful as well! I didn't feel rushed at all because Sharon, who sounds eerily similar to Ellen Page from Juno, spent a good amount of time chatting with me how I was feeling. After a blood test and confirming I was full of mucus (lovely, I know) she prescribed a z-pack to make me all better. Oh, how I love antibiotics. I left without even seeing Dr Suh, yet it was another 5 star experience!

tl;dr: Dr. Suh is the best doctor I've ever had, hands down. And if you have trouble with contact,…read moreuse MyChart (mychart[dot]nm[dot]org). Dr. Suh is attentive, simultaneously both friendly and professional, doesn't rush you out the door, asks the right questions (she doesn't wait for YOU to mention that weird mole or why you've been refilling your xanax more frequently or whatever...), she's good at sensing/reading that there's something you want to ask but about which you might be afraid or embarrassed (I got over that long ago, but was a big help when I started seeing her about 9 years ago), and if you have test results, follows up with a phone call even if they're normal. And here's a big one - she treats you with respect. I've seen a few doctors in Chicago who have treated me like a child (one who did that recently was almost certainly younger than me) or an idiot (I'd like to think I'm not - I read a ton about medicine and science in general out of sheer curiosity, have a background in chemistry, and come off as well-spoken and intelligent [so I've been told]). I've seen a lot of reviews here complaining about the office staff, perhaps at the old location on Washington. They weren't without flaws, but I've seen MUCH worse (*ahem*women'shealthconsulting*ahem*). I think there might be a completely new staff at the Delano location, but I'm not sure; I've only had one visit there. The one complaint I have from my only visit to the new office is that, although I was quite early & Dr. Suh was running a little behind, they didn't offer to draw blood or get a urine sample while I was waiting (it was an annual exam - they ALWAYS do blood & urine). I probably could have asked though, or maybe there's a new protocol or something. Not the end of the world, for sure. If you have trouble getting in touch due to the Northwestern bureaucracy, I'd highly suggest using the MyChart portal to send messages to Dr. Suh, schedule appointments, ask for refills, etc. It really does work, I've never had a problem with it at all. Sadly, I'm moving out of state in about 6 or 8 months, so unless I get sick between now and then (fingers crossed I stay healthy this winter!), my most recent visit with her will be my last.

From the receptionist to Doctor Gustas, they were all as nice as can be -- as was I. I was driven there by my social worker, who has taken two people to Northwestern Urgent Care, and she is now switching to Northwestern because of the efficiency and care that she has witnessed. Thank you all who work there. We have world class care in Chicago, you just have to know where to go, and this makes all the difference in the world. I have a long term illness requiring care from various departments at Northwestern, and always have good experiences. This was Great for an Urgent care. You can call and see how full they are. The place was packed when we left, and the waits surely longer. Best of wishes to those who need help. You can find the help here. God Bless.

The screen showed my balance was $0. A few weeks later, I got a parking non-compliance notice from Parking Revenue Recovery Services (PRRS) saying I owed $87 for failing to pay for parking on that day. This feels like a scam, although I am not sure by Northwestern Immediate Care or PRRS. Everyone I've spoken with at the location have been professional and friendly. However, their records accessibility policy is ridiculous. They use a version of Epic (the most common software in the US) for their EHR. However, they do not offer a patient portal. Epic's portal is called MyChart and is offered by basically every major provider who uses Epic. Even their competitor CVS Minute Clinic offers MyChart records access. I once called to ask Physicians Immediate Care to send my health records to my PCP. I was told they charge a fee for this, basically because they can, and when I asked the person I was speaking with why they don't use MyChart they actually told me "because the records belong to us". In fact, failing to offer one seems to be in opposition to the Meaningful Use portion of EHR Incentive Program Stage 3. Maybe they don't take advantage of any of the Medicare and Medicaid incentives? I don't know, but failing to offer a patient portal strikes me as hopelessly anachronous. The message I get is they are so greedy for every cent they charge a fee to send records when seemingly everyone else offers online portal access for free. Records copying fees are "allowed" in many states, but are part of laws passed long ago when records were on paper and people had to physically photocopy them. So I tend to avoid Physicians Immediate Care now and go to CVS.

I called on a Thursday afternoon to book an appointment the following Friday. I had no problem getting an appointment! When I arrived for my appointment, it was very pleasing to see such a large and clean waiting room. I was the only one in the waiting room and there were three people waiting to assist me. I arrived 15 minutes early thinking I'd have to fill out some paperwork (despite being a patient already in the Northwestern Memorial hospital network) but there was nothing for me to fill out! It was great! I had barely even taken off my jacket to sit down before they called me in for my appointment. Eventually they will have more doctors and specialists working at this location. I can't wait for that time to come so I can make this my one-stop shop for all my check ups! FYI--if you drive, they will validate so you get first 90 minutes free. This location is very easy to get to from the CTA Roosevelt train and bus stops.

I went to their urgent care and told them my arm and wrist hurts badly. They only X-rayed my elbow said it was fractured and sent me home in a sling and no medication for pain. Now during PT we discovered that I had a 2ND FRACTURE in the same bone at my wrist. NWM failed to x-ray it in the 1st place. CRAPPY CARE AT NORTHWESTERN
