The only problem with going to the most popular doc on Yelp is that it can be quite difficult to…read moreget an appointment! After a week of coughing and sneezing I called Dr Suh's office prepared to beg for an appointment that day. It turned out I didn't need to do much begging...there were able to fit me in with their Physician Assistant an hr later. Hurray! I don't take pleasure in visiting any dr, but this office is the exception. Everyone (and seriously everyone) is sooo nice! Friendly receptionist, super sweet nurse and Sharon the Physician Assistant was wonderful as well! I didn't feel rushed at all because Sharon, who sounds eerily similar to Ellen Page from Juno, spent a good amount of time chatting with me how I was feeling. After a blood test and confirming I was full of mucus (lovely, I know) she prescribed a z-pack to make me all better. Oh, how I love antibiotics. I left without even seeing Dr Suh, yet it was another 5 star experience!

tl;dr: Dr. Suh is the best doctor I've ever had, hands down. And if you have trouble with contact,…read moreuse MyChart (mychart[dot]nm[dot]org). Dr. Suh is attentive, simultaneously both friendly and professional, doesn't rush you out the door, asks the right questions (she doesn't wait for YOU to mention that weird mole or why you've been refilling your xanax more frequently or whatever...), she's good at sensing/reading that there's something you want to ask but about which you might be afraid or embarrassed (I got over that long ago, but was a big help when I started seeing her about 9 years ago), and if you have test results, follows up with a phone call even if they're normal. And here's a big one - she treats you with respect. I've seen a few doctors in Chicago who have treated me like a child (one who did that recently was almost certainly younger than me) or an idiot (I'd like to think I'm not - I read a ton about medicine and science in general out of sheer curiosity, have a background in chemistry, and come off as well-spoken and intelligent [so I've been told]). I've seen a lot of reviews here complaining about the office staff, perhaps at the old location on Washington. They weren't without flaws, but I've seen MUCH worse (*ahem*women'shealthconsulting*ahem*). I think there might be a completely new staff at the Delano location, but I'm not sure; I've only had one visit there. The one complaint I have from my only visit to the new office is that, although I was quite early & Dr. Suh was running a little behind, they didn't offer to draw blood or get a urine sample while I was waiting (it was an annual exam - they ALWAYS do blood & urine). I probably could have asked though, or maybe there's a new protocol or something. Not the end of the world, for sure. If you have trouble getting in touch due to the Northwestern bureaucracy, I'd highly suggest using the MyChart portal to send messages to Dr. Suh, schedule appointments, ask for refills, etc. It really does work, I've never had a problem with it at all. Sadly, I'm moving out of state in about 6 or 8 months, so unless I get sick between now and then (fingers crossed I stay healthy this winter!), my most recent visit with her will be my last.

Her exam for people in Medicare and supplemental insurance consists of blood pressure, listening to your heart through your clothing, and blood work. She did not review anything with me, even though I should be getting a colonoscopy soon. When I had excruciating pain in my hip, she did not order an X-ray. She asked me to stand on one leg and pronounced my hip sound. After eight months of intense pain, I demanded an X-ray and needed a total hip replacement. I had to wait 90 minutes for her so, for my next appointment, I made sure I got the first appointment of her day. I still waited 45 minutes. She told me she's also going concierge ($3000) so I asked if I would be getting a more comprehensive exam then. She said no, she would be focusing on nutrition and wellness. She ought to know I'm a very healthy eater and very healthy. After the appointment, she messaged that I'm pre-diabetic but "Don't worry about it and eat less sugar." I don't even eat sugary things. I AM worried about it and I'm going to find a doctor who can help me with it!

She'll go over what we talked during our last visit. She takes time to discuss health goals with me. She will answer ALL my questions quite thoroughly, even when an answer leads me to another question. She calls me very promptly to discuss any test results. She is friendly, personable, kind, and I really feel very comfortable with her as my doctor. I've been seeing her for a little over a year now, and she even made a really wonderful recommendation for me when I required a specialist for a test. The medical assistants at this location are always very friendly with me as well, and any shots or taking blood- I don't feel a thing. (And THAT is a first!)

Didn't seem like all the tests that are necessary for a primary care appointment for the first time in years were done. However, I just wanted to run some blood tests. Doctor took my blood and urine, and told me I would get results on the web portal in a couple days. After a few days I still hadn't received my results. I tried to call into the office and left a voicemail as instructed since no one was available. I never received a response. It has now been over a month and still no test results. I have: Called multiple days and at all times of day with NO ONE EVER PICKING UP THE FRONT DESK PHONE. Have left multiple voicemails. Have messaged on the online web portal. None of these communications have ever received a response. Do not waste your time. I'm expecting I will still get a bill as my insurance was charged for both the Doctors visit and lab tests.

I was dreading the appointment because typically doctors reprimand you for your lifestyle (i.e. If you have more than 2 drinks per month you're an alcoholic, etc.) and it's demeaning with respect to social standards. I try to keep healthy but I'm not perfect. Anyway, Dr. Pearson was the first doctor I've been to who treated me like a real person & listened intently to my concerns. She spent over 30 minutes with me (again, this was just a proactive check up) and by the time I left I felt like a VIP patient. Then within a few days after the appointment, she personally called me to deliver my test results (all positive) and patiently walked me through each section, explaining areas I did not understand. Moreover, she talks to you in layman terms, translating the medical jargon into coherent facts. I'm actually excited that I have such a wonderful regular physician! I certainly won't be dreading my regular checkups anymore. Seriously, Dr. Pearson is the best!!
