Love Dr. Locatelli. She was recommended to me by another satisfied customer after I had a hard time finding a primary care physician. Dr. Locatelli takes her time, listens to what you tell her, and, of the two medications she's prescribed for me, has done an excellent job in treating the issues. I deducted one star because they bill my insurance $300+ for an office visit - seems high when the average I've seen is $150-$200. read more

Great doctor when I went to him in Chicago (sad he left). Amazing bedside manner, good guy. Funny too!

Get ready to empty your wallets. For some minor arm tingling the PCP recommended an MRI. MRI: $4,898 ($195 Pharmacy, $4,600 Radiology, $103 Laboratory) Someone to read the MRI: $706 Findings: nothing. $5,604 later there is no explanation on the arm tingling. What did the PCP recommend? A sleep study. Idiots. We don't need a health care reform, we need hospitals to make less money. read more

I haven't yet seen a doctor (my appointment is today) but I've been on hold trying to speak to someone in their call center regarding my appointment for the last 12 minutes and counting. This isn't making the practice look very good. read more

WORST DR. EVER! He was extremely transactional. He didn't try to get to know me...OR a history of my ailments. In fact he totally dismissed my symptoms all together. I told him about the following symptoms that I had Belly pain Indigestion Vomiting No appetite He Literally gave me a couple of gas pills and told me to call him. Well a week later I was rushed to the ER, and had my gallbladder removed. The ambulance rushed me to the nearest hospital, I had surgery the same night...released a day later. When the hospital called him to tell him I was hospitalized...he never showed up. Instead his NURSE called my cell to check on me. To this day...HE HAS NEVER CALLED, EMAILED, TEXT...or anything. Just disappeared like a fart in the wind. AVOID THIS DEVIL AT ALL COSTS. YOUR LIFE LITERALLY DEPENDS ON IT! read more

I really like Dr. Locatelli. I've seen her and she is very friendly and genuinely interested in your health. You do get a bit of a feeling of being rushed in and out, but she'll answer questions you have politely and give as much information as possible. That being said, I don't really like the practice. It takes forever to get through the call center and I always get the nastiest receptionists over the phone. This past Thursday morning, I called because I thought I had shingles (I was right). I asked to see ANY doctor in the practice and added that I probably needed to see someone the next day because shingles can cause nerve damage. The receptionist refused to schedule me before Monday and was really rude when I (politely, yes) told her that that was not acceptable because by then I would have nerve damage (the doctor I saw verified this for me). Another time I had a problem with some medication Dr. Locatelli prescribed me. My insurance wouldn't approve it until my doctor called and verified that it was the medication I needed. I called the Group and told them and they said they would call the insurance that day to get it approved. I called the insurance company the next day and they hadn't heard from my doctor's office. Same story the day after that. I called the Group and got a receptionist who apologized profusely and swore she'd call. She didn't. I had to call a third time to finally get someone to call the insurance company. It was incredibly frustrating. If NMPG would get better support staff, I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I cannot recommeend this medical group highly enough and have sent MANY people to the wonderful doctors here, especially after the professional and effiicient manner in which the staff handled an emergency situation several years ago. For the past six years I have seen almost all of the physicians on staff for my basic health needs. Dr Locatelli and Dr Connolly stand out as being truly committed to making sure I received the best care, practical advice, and consistent follow-up. The front desk staff is organzied and cordial, with well-kept records and prompt returns on phone calls. This makes it supereasy to dovetail information with the main Northwestern facilities downtown, plus patients can sign up for an sucre online service to make appointments online. I would send anyone here without hesitation! Live well and be healthy! read more

Dr. Anne Franke Locatelli has been mine (and my husband's!) GP for nearly 4 years now. She's the best doctor I've ever had! She really takes time to get to know you and LISTENS TO YOU! She'll spend 45 minutes with you if you have a concern. Amazing! Office staff is even great, I can't say enough....I moved out of the neighborhood and still make the trek to see her. P.S. When Dr. Locatelli was on maternity leave my husband ended up getting Viral Meningitis and Dr. Susan Alt took great care of him. She listened (even though I'm sure we sounded like crazy people) and took our concerns seriously, leading to the correct diagnosis after a week of misery! She's just as good at Dr. Locatelli!! read more

My regular internist is downtown and when I'm sick, she is definitely very inconvenient to get to. Also, the fact I usually have to wait an hour in the waiting room (even though I have an appointment) is really annoying. I wish they would at least have interesting magazines to read while I'm waiting, but nope. I love her dearly. We had a good run for five years. But it's just time for a change. And that change is Dr. Connelly at Northwestern Memorial Physician's Group in Wicker Park. Just a five minute drive from my apartment! Last week I had sore throat to the max and had to go in to see a doctor. I decided to not even call my regular internist and decided to YELP any docs close to my area. There were great reviews for Northwestern Memorial Physician's Group so I called to see if they would take new patients. The receptionist was so nice and she booked an appointment for me the same day with Dr. Connelly. I was beyond ecstatic! She kindly told me to show up 15 minutes prior to fill out the paperwork. I got to the office and noticed they had a free parking lot in front! Score! I filled out the necessary paperwork and got taken to the exam room exactly on my appointment time. This is unheard of in my experience! And btw, at least they have good magazines to read in the waiting area! Elizabeth, who was my nurse, was awesome. She did a strep test on me and although I'm very squeamish with a bad gag reflex, she totally got the swab and totally made me laugh the whole way. She rocks. I think she is my fave nurse ever. As soon as Elizabeth left Dr. Connolly came in. Usually I have to wait a good 15 minutes for the doctor after the nurse, but not here! Dr. Connolly is so nice. He examined my throat and answered all my questions. He doesn't rush you. He is very patient and listens well. He thought what I had was viral so my body would just fight it itself and told me to call him if it didn't get better in a couple days. Well, over the next couple days my pain got pretty bad ....and to make matters worse my jaw locked because of the stress the sore throat was causing. I called the office just to let them know and they told me to come in and that the Dr. would see me that day. I went in. He did some tests to make sure he could rule out anything it possibly could be. He is really methodical, a very good doctor and just a nice guy. Rose, the nurse who took my blood was awesome! She got it in one try! And I couldn't believe she was done so fast! All in all, I love this practice and will be going there from now on. Five stars :-) read more

Just wanted to write a quick update - I've now seen Dr. Locatelli, and she is just as great as Dr. Connelly. Friendly, personable, and approachable, she let me ask lots of questions about the meds she gave me for my neverending cold, and she sure seems to know her stuff. I don't think you could go wrong with anyone in this office. If you're looking for a great primary care doc, give them a shout. (But don't take all the appointments, k? I found them first! ;D ) read more

Another huge fan of Dr. Locatelli. she's been my PCP since 2002. She's very patient and really takes the time to listen to your concerns and answer your questions. The office staff and nurses are also professional and friendly. they never laugh at me when I step on the scale backwards and say "do not tell me the number under any circumstances or you will ruin my day" I've never had difficulty getting an appoitment and the location is convenient (parking lot a big plus!) read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Locatelli at 10:45 am. I got there early to do paperwork since it was my first time and the staff there is really nice! :) i had to wait an additional 15 min before being seen but it wasn't that big of a deal. Dr. Locatelli is awesome! She answered all of my questions and any concerns that I had. I was just there for a physical and she's a really great doctor to talk to. I'm glad that I listened to everyone on yelp and went to see her. Yay! :) read more

Dr. Connelly is highly recommended. He is able to diagnose problems quickly and accurately and doesn't seem to push people toward meds they don't need. In other words, you never feel like he's a tool of an insurance company. Another sign of his skill at being a GP is that I'm not dead, as I can sometimes engage in unhealthy activities. He has been very prompt with appointment times, so much so that he is apologetic when a patient has to wait more than five minutes in the examination room. From past experiences with other doctors, I'm geared up for a thirty minute wait, so this is unexpected. You are not in the waiting area long, but you are there long enough to view the weird Soldier Field and Wrigley Field paintings adorning the walls. It's a great way to pass a couple minutes, staring at the worst art you've ever seen. Though, I've never seen her, I also like how there is another physician in the office named Anne Franke. read more

I selected Dr Connelly based on the Yelp reviews and so glad I did. I really liked that I didn't feel rushed during the appointment. In the recent years, I feel doctors just push you in and out and don't take time to get to know you. With Dr. Connelly, we had a conversation first and got to know my world. He was answered all of my questions and gave great advice for general healthcare tips. I especially like that he treats you like a human and not a machine. So grateful that I have found a doctor like Dr Connelly! Highly recommended! read more

Doc Connelly has been by my side for almost 7 years now and counting. He is kind, listens to you, cares about you, and very knowledgeable! I always feel that he has the time to address each of my concerns and actually cares about my life, my health, and my overall well being. I have had a 2 major surgeries during the last 7 years and literally dozens of special medical procedures done or scheduled / monitored by the good doctor and his staff / colleagues. NMPG is a rock solid organization of professionals that have proven that I do not need to go anywhere else for medical treatment or advise. Thank you from myself and my family! read more

I really cannot say enough good things about Dr. Connelly. He has been my regular Dr. now for over a year, and I see no reason to change. On every visit he is nothing less than extremely thorough, caring, and very knowledgeable. If you need blood work, or any other test, it's actually Dr. Connelly that calls you with the results, not a staff member. Impressive, and unfortunately rare these days. Highly recommend! read more

Had a great experience and would highly recommend Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group. I couldn't drive out to my usual doctor, so I checked out this physicians group since it is conveniently located in the heart of Wicker Park. I called in the morning and got an appointment same-day. Dr. Connelly listened to me carefully and patiently and sent my prescription to the fancy Walgreens just down the street on Damen/North/Milwaukee. Ueber convenient. If I didn't love my usual doctors and the online system of NorthShore University HealthCare System, I'd switch practices entirely. read more

Trying to find a doctor's network when you are new to a city is really tough. You don't want to end up at Joe's Slice and Dice for your physicals!!!! I've had a very positive experience so far with the Northwestern group. The staff were proactive about making sure my insurance would cover everything I was seen for and any tests ordered. I've been going to Dr. Alt, who is great. I've also seen Dr. Moses. Both have been very helpful and gone above and beyond my expectations to get me seen when I needed to be seen, get necessary tests, etc. and also to make themselves available for any questions I might have. I also love that NW has an email system that allows you to send messages to your provider. When you have a non-urgent question or update on something health-related and don't really necessarily want your whole office to overhear your conversation on the phone or have to sit on hold for 10 minutes. This is something I valued so much about my doctors in my home state & I was overjoyed to find it at Northwestern. I'd highly recommend them. There is a doctors office right across the street from my building, but their scheduling and billing practices left much to be desired, so the short brown line ride up to see Dr. Alt is well worth it for me! read more

Dr Locatelli has failed me in ways that I can neither comprehend nor forget. She was my primary physician for over four years and I really liked her from our first appointment. I trusted her, she seemed warm and personable. And she was always good with my minor issues. However, I developed a strange spinal issue and under her care it got progressively worse until I was in constant blinding pain and unable to function. I was in so much pain at one point I was lying on my floor crying. I had to go to the ER all the time because Dr. Locatelli and the others in her practice were very rarely available. At the ER they would only prescribe me one or two pain pills at a time. (Most likely due to a lack of diagnosis or an improper diagnosis from Dr. Locatelli, the only doctor I had been seeing and had for them to reference.) When I ran out of medication and couldnt make it to the ER again on a blisteringly cold Christmas Eve I called Dr Locatelli crying, saying that I was actually afraid because I didnt know how bad the pain would get and I was out of medication, she told me "I'm not going to write you anything because you decided to call at 10 oclock at night." She told me to wait and come in on a Monday and then she'd see what she could do. She left me alone and in pain on a Christmas Eve. I spent last Christmas in horrible pain and from there it only got worse. And I had nobody to turn to. I think because she couldn't understand my injury she thought I was lying about my pain or exaggerating my symptoms. Which is very disappointing from a physician I had been seeing for years. She should have known me better than that. Fortunately for me I am very tenacious and I managed to find another doctor in another group and a new physical therapist who actually helped me instead of offering nothing more than excuses and pithy brushoffs. Now after three bouts of physical therapy I am finally well. I am pain-free and working a full time job with no symptoms. I am able to sleep and work and do my hobbies again. I went from living in a painful nightmare for a year to having a new lease on life and I am enjoying that life profusely. However, I still cannot forget the way that she just didnt care when I was in the most pain of my life. The pain was on par with the pain I experienced when my gallbladder had to be removed. I was in Level 10 pain and I had no means or medication to cope. Her treatment of me, or lack thereof, should be illegal. Her negligence and lack of empathy are criminal - and still unbelievable to me over six months later. When I think about the prolonged bouts of uncontrollable pain that I had to endure, the suffering that I had to face, and things I had to go through because I didn't have a reliable, trustworthy or caring primary care physician it just breaks my heart. So take my advice: If you are looking for a physician who will treat you like a human being and take care of you when you need it the most....its not Dr. Locatelli. read more

The doctors in the office are actually good. I see doctor Connolly he's a good guy, that is when I can actually see him, speak to him, or anybody from his office. That's the problem. When you need them, you can never get ahold of anybody directly. I'm talking Monday-Friday regular hours. Nothing. The group and service gets them a 0. Getting ahold of your doctor is impossible. They won't let you speak to anyone directly. They have an attitude when they speak with you. "That's just how it is" You cannot contact your doctor directly or even anybody that works in that specific office. You have to go through 312-296-3627 phone service #. I promise you Comcast is easier to deal with. Screw this place. read more

Went to see Dr. Connelly about new prescriptions and medical issues. He didn't know some of the medication I was taking but wrote me a prescription anyways. He had to look a medical issue on the internet and how to treat it. Went to my pharmacy and got some prescriptions but not all. The pharmacy didnt have one and one required a prior authorization. It has been 3 months trying to get Dr. Connelly to write a prior authorization and change one prescription. Would not recommend at all. read more

Let me just say that this is a five-star review coming from someone who despises going to the doctor. After Dr. Ramirez left the NMPG Lakeview location, I basically avoided going to the doctor at all because doctors = no bueno. Not so here! Drs. Locatelli and Connelly are both great and listen to you. The receptionists are super friendly. The nurses don't stab your arm 7 times attempting to draw blood. Unfortunately, this is unusual in my prior experience with doctors' offices, but I have no complaints here. read more

After being insurance-less for about 3 years, I was rather excited to see a doctor! How sad is that? I wasn't dissatisfied with my previous primary, but wanted to find someone different and closer to home. After taking a tip from a friend (and fellow Yelper) I made an appointment with Dr Ann Franke-Locatelli. The following things made my experience enjoyable: - close to home (I could walk there!) - quick appointment time (I was booked only a couple weeks out - not months like some places treat new patients) - friendly admin staff - friendly, helpful nurses - Amazingly kind, caring doctor. Seriously, Dr. Locatelli is awesome. I had some blood drawn, and turns out I was diagnosed for something that I didn't even know was wrong with me! I can only imagine she had the intuition to test after chatting with me for awhile. (Luckily it wasn't anything severe). - Quick, excellent referrals to specialists - Prompt return phone calls I'm thrilled to have found a doctor in Chicago this wonderful! If you're looking, I highly recommend. read more

I started going to Dr. Alt two months ago and I am very pleased with the office. It is a very well run office and everyone is very nice and efficient. Dr. Alt is listens carefully and I never feel like she is judgemental. (I often think I am sick when I am not- a problem being raised with a north shore jewish mother) I had to switch some medication and she did great follow up. It is sometimes difficult to take blood from my sneaky veins but they always manage to catch them right away! I have NEVER liked going to the doctor until I met Dr. Anne Franke-Locatelli! She is the best doctor on the face of this earth. As a new patient, I was expecting to be shuffled through pretty quickly, but we actually talked for 45 minutes plus. It is so great being able to trust your doctor and know she is helping you. If your insurance covers her, you will NOT be disappointed. You also have the nice bonus of this office being part of Northwestern, should you need a stellar hospital! read more

Dr. Locatelli is warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. She takes time to really listen and understand her patients' needs. There's usually parking out front too, which is really nice. I'd happily recommend Dr. Locatelli and the NMPG Wicker Park office to anyone! read more

I tried to set up the appointment originally in November. I was scheduled for early January. I asked if I could be put on a waiting list for an earlier date. I was told Northwestern didn't do waiting lists, but I could just keep calling back everyday to try for an earlier appointment. The day before my visit, I was called and told that my doctor was out sick and I would need to call back to reschedule. I called back immediately and was told that I had been rescheduled for the next week on Thursday. I showed up on the day my scheduled appointment was to find I wasn't in the system. I was told that they had record of me being rescheduled and being given a confirmation, but they didn't actually have me scheduled. The doctor didn't have time to see me because he was already filled up and double booked. I had been fasting all day so I was not very happy. I was rescheduled for Saturday. If I missed my appointment or even cancelled late, I would have been charged $50. But for some reason when it was Northwestern's mistake, nothing was done to make amends. They didn't even offer to wave my co-pay. The "central scheduling office" is the exact opposite of efficient. It's pretty sad that when you need to see a trusted physician you are put on hold for 20 minutes and then have everything screwed up. I hope you make improvements to at least provide the hellish customer service I get from calling my cable company. read more

I not only went to this location, but I also went to the one in Boystown within a month of each other. While it is easy to make an appointment, the experience with the doctors always need improvement. I don't know what it is about doctors lately but it seems that I can never find a good one, they always seem to dismiss my symptoms. I also should note that I am not one to go to the doctor for every little sniffle. I go when I need to, and I know something is wrong. With that said I went to both locations for the same problem. A persistent cough. I somehow always feel like I talk and they never listen. I basically walked out of there the first time with a recommendation to take Zyrtec every day, and it was just allergies. He did give me a Z pack and said that if the cough was still around in 2 weeks to come back and they'd do an X-ray. I do just that and the doctor again says to just take some Sudafed, and prescribes me another allergy med. on top of the two he already wants me to take, and then throws in an inhaler, and says that it might be asthma, sports related, and that just pretty much do my own testing with and without the inhaler and see if any of that helps. Aren't doctors supposed to be more scientific then that? Mostly I'm just irritated because they never seem nice, and it always seems like they just want to push you out as fast as you can and that you're just a complainer. If any of these doctors read this review, please note that bedside manner goes a long way. Not every patient is making it up. read more

for the past few years i have been moving back and forth between states for work. i've had miscellaneous issues and mostly a lot of pain. i have tried to get a good doctor who gave half a shit and had more than 5 minutes to figure out what to do. moving hasn't made finding a doctor any easier, but it seems that even if you do have insurance good health care is hard to come by. so, when i first saw dr. connelly it was liked light flooded and angels hearkened!!! well not initially because i was really unhappy that he wouldn't prescribe pain meds for my back that was kicking my ass, but he insisted on physical therapy and milder pain meds. within 2 weeks pain that i have been living for years and has recently become unbearable started getting alleviated and now is almost gone. without medication. he was also very thorough and compassionate. easy to talk to and i can appreciate his no no nonsense, holistic approach. any time i have needed to make an appointment it's been super easy. they got me in same day as a new patient when my back was kicking my ass. the nurses are helpful as are the receptionists. there is a bit of a wait for the doctor, but nothing out of the norm. i am so happy i have finally found a doctor who gives a shit - didn't seem like a tough request but after 3 years of searching i guess it was. thanks dr. connelly! read more

I have been seeing dr. Connelly, on and off, for years. He is what an internal medicine physician should be. Compassionate, willing to hear you out, not closed to any venue that would resolve the problem. I live nearby so going to this location is a blessing. I went to see him downtown regularly - when he split his time between DT and Wicker Park. Now he is firmly in Wicker Park. So, if some sort of illness befalls me at work, I usually go to Northwestern satellite office on Clark, but otherwise dr. Connelly is my guy. And he should be yours. read more

I've been to so many mediocre doctors in my day, that I decided to make a point to give credit to those who deserve it. He is intelligent, and basically gives you the feeling that you are in good hands. Now we've all been to those great doctors who have the most nightmarish office staff. Not the case here!
