Delicious food in the food halls area!
    Justine C.

Love the food hall area. There is an abundance of fresh local and international ingredients that are available to devour at fairly good prices. Have enjoyed lunch at the Oyster, Espresso and Panini bars with food that I have taken away. Fresh and inviting. When you come here on a weekend, there are some yummy samples to enjoy. Love the chocolate dipped strawberries, figs and berries :) Hot tip: At the time of writing this, I have scored a couple of Christmas hampers at 75% off. A great opportunity to also buy some Byron Bay Cookies cookie boxes (Rocky Road and White Chocolate Chunk and Macadamia) for 75% off. The end price - roughly $2.20 for 75 grams works out to be cheaper if you buy the cookies elsewhere. Sweet, sweet score! Oh, and there are some great home wares you can buy here. As well as top up on some kikki.k stationery.

Cute food truck situated in David Jones food court in the city! I ordered the pork steamed bun which was nice, warm and tasty! I wanted to try the duck pancakes but they were sold out. They seemed to be sold out of quite a few items so I have given them 4/5 instead of 5/5. The price for dishes are reasonable and they are well packed for take away!

This department store features a very nice gourmet food section on the "basement" level, which included everything from pastries, to chocolates, to cheeses and pastas.

That's why I had to wait for today to visit your store) to your store and wanted to buy a new one.I went to level 5 customer service part and explained to your staff and explained why I am here. After 15 mins, the staff helped solved my problem and planned to authorise the refund for me. Suddenly, a lady was very rude, interrupted and jumped into the process. Her name is Srija ( she said this is her name). She asked the staff to leave and she said she will help me. I said there is no need to change someone else since it almost done. The she started ask me again I need to your receipt, why you are here, what is the kettle's problem, which part is broken, why do you think the kettle could not be used. I told her I had already said to the staff previously. She said : it doesn't matter I still need ask you again. I was very upset and angry. Why I have to explain it again since the staff helped me already. I asked her what is your name. Are you the manager here? She said : I am the team leader. I said : oh, okay. What is your name. Why you didn't wear your name badge . She replied: "it's not your business". I told her that I wanted to speak to your manager. She said the manager is not working. I told her that I will complain about your service. She said: go ahead. I was holding a new kettle and wanted to purchase it. Since she delivered the super bad service I left your store. She told me that her name is Srija. And the position is the team leader. I am very disappointed at your store. Even though I was holding the kettle wanted to buy, I had to leave it and buy one somewhere else. She doesn't even know how to serve the customer correctly. How could be a team leader and deliver professional customer service to the team? I believe you will lose more customers.

It is currently the largest MUJI in Australia based on store size. This chain has been described as the IKEA of Japan, which is not that accurate. The design element is similar and the store does offer large furniture and home items. But the store offers an array of items not found at IKEA including beauty products, luggage, men's and women's clothing, stationery and travel accessories. Though the selection is not as extensive as the stores in Asia as there isn't a food area, aside from a selection of bottled teas. I am particular fond of the snacks that MUJI sells at their airport locations at Hong Kong and Narita Airport, so it was disappointing to see that this store doesn't carry that line. I visited the store twice on my trip to Australia. I checked out their men's clothing area and found the pricing to be reasonable. Plus the minimalist design is appealing if you don't like any logos on your clothing. The regular prices here seemed higher than Uniqlo, but they do have good markdowns on their clearance items. In fact, I picked a casual short sleeve shirt for under $10. On the day before I was flying back to the US, I visited the store to make my return trip more comforting. I wasn't looking forward to the 14 hour flight to LA, so I returned to pick up a travel pillow here as MUJI is known for this offering. I decided to get a neck cushion. While it didn't help me to get much sleep on the plane, it provided good support and prevented neck strain. The cushion is not as bulky as other pillows, so it fits comfortably in your backpack and doesn't take up a lot of room. If you are a fan of simply designed and well made products, MUJI is a great place to shop. And for travelers looking to make their journey a little more comfortable, it is worth checking out the travel accessories offered here. Particularly if you are taking a long-haul flight.

It was also a nice walk down memory lane to visit. Kmart was part of my youth growing up, having a store within walking distance during my pre-driving days. Unfortunately, they were on a slow than faster decline, culminating in their closing their last mainland US store in 2024. But here in Australia, they continue to be a large presence, with 214 total stores, 52 in New South Wales. I was curious about the history of Kmart in Australia: -- first one opened in 1969, as a joint venture between Kmart US and Coles Meyer Australia, with Kmart US owning 51% -- in 1978, Kmart US traded its share in Kmart-Australia for a 20% share of Coles. -- in 1994, Kmart US solds all of its shares, making a Kmart-Australia a completely separate entity. I did buy something here: been looking for Pokemon trading cards for my daughter, and found a collector set here with many expander decks for retail price. Pokemon cards seem to be popular again, and haven't been able to find any without significant markup. Checkout was self, but I needed a lot of help since the item was security secured. They also scan your receipt for any purchased items as you leave the store. Wouldn't say the workers would add to the stereotype of Aussies being so friendly. Didn't see any 'blue light specials' when I was there. Later learned that they had them very early in their existence in Australia, but they went away once it broke away from the US mothership.

It's seal is still 100% sealed but when I took it out of my bag she automatically says they won't accept it because it's open. She didn't even look at it! I told it it is not opened and she snatched the bottle out of my hand and continued to inspect the cap like her life depended on it. She asks for the receipt and I took out a few since I still had a few others in my bag so she decided to comment on every receipt of mine which was very unnecessary but I find the right one and hand it to her. She starts the refund and asks if I have the card that I initially used and I said yes, do I need to scan it. In the US, places like target do not need the card for the refund, the money goes back automatically. She responds with, again, a very unnecessary sound saying yes so I look at the receipt to see which cars I used and it was Apple Pay. She then proceeds to ask if I forgot my phone since it took me longer than .5 seconds to take it out. After the refund is complete she goes on a bit about the policy and whatnot which I fully understood but she seemed to think I didn't.
