High-end shops in this part of Sydney with meticulously decorated Christmas windows. Prada, Breitling, Rolex, Swarovski, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Uggs, Pandora ...And a huge American style mall that we didn't walk inside.

    In line...

Expensive but then again you get what you pay for. More high end food court compared to the el cheapo hunter street fare. I'm always here for lunch for the variety and consistency. My expectations are always met at the food court or I head over to DJs for a prawn roll. Westfield's has enough clothing stores to spend a day in and you can finish off with a macaron over in Laduree (I'm a sucker for the violet macaron there but still a Pierre Herme fanboy if I'm in Paris) or head over to nespresso to buy your coffee pods and free coffee. Great place to visit to shop, eat, shop, and eat haha.

Its not just a mall, its a venue.

When I landed in Australia, I wanted to visit a couple of Sydney's malls. Of course, see what items I could bring back and compare what stores were similar to the United States. I didn't realize that the word monopoly didn't apply here because most of the malls were owned by Westfield. Let's take a quick peek at the heart of Sydney's Westfield Mall. If you are planning to pay a visit downtown Sydney, it'll be hard to notice of the tower that bares the name, Westfield. So, no need to look on your phone if you are lost. Just look up and that tall tower will lead you to the heart of downtown Sydney. Westfield Sydney is one of the classiest Westfield malls that I have ever been to. I don't recognize any of the stores, but the stores seem to be of high quality. The stores seem to be endless. I am not sure where it starts and/or where it begins. If you get lost, you can use one of the digital screens to help locate a particular store that Westfield Sydney has. Unfortunately, I did not locate a Fossil Store. Not looking good! However, Myers does have big presence in Australia. I think of Myers as Macy's sister. You can probably see that Myers is very dedicated to quality from cosmetics to jewelry to clothing. At the top level of Westfield Sydney, I was introduced to Australia's version of Best Buy called, JB Hi Fi. Think of Best Buy's logo, but combined with Big Lots. Thus creating a store that markets weirdly. Below the JB Hi Fi level is a medium sized food court. I didn't dine in there since most of the action is happening outside. I know the cousins that I were with were getting their cosmetics and making sure that they are always beautiful. Westfield Sydney seems to be trying to be the new face of Sydney overtaking the Sydney Opera House. I think my 2nd Family made the adventure fun. Usually, I don't visit malls unless I am doing a major wardrobe change, but I had fun with with one of my 2nd cousins daughter while the others were getting dolled up. If you've been to Westfield in the United States, you may want to make a visit to Westfield Sydney and see how their mall blows ours out of the water. You think I write too much? Well, you can call me a Yelp-O-Holic!

Rejoice when this establishment at Sydney's Pitt Street Mall opened in time just before Christmas. It attracted the crowds, although at the time it was highly uncertain as to whether or not all of the traffic ever brought anything here. If you love chic, trendy and style and the latest quality fashion: then the centrepoint side is a great place to shop for you. A great establishment to enjoy quality drinks, and their food court is actually upstairs as opposed to downstairs making this establishment a bit different. If your in the mood for some Asian Fusion, head up to their food court and enjoy your lunch there; otherwise you are just wasting your time. It is a joy to walk through, although the novelty begins to wear off sooner or later. The beauty salon downstairs is also great. You are paying extra to get an eyebrow was on this side of the centre than if you headed across the road; however for new and more room it is worth the extra $4. Their hang out lounges are just so divine as well. The higher levels attract less crowds. And there are great links to both DJ's and Myers.

You could say $1.2bn is a lot to spend on building a shopping mall, and it is! But then again, its 7 stories of shopping and eating are definitely worth a visit. It's certainly big anyway - I found a whole new section the other day that I hadn't come across before, and I'm in the city quite a bit, who knows what else there is to discover! As well as the shopping, there is an array of upmarket food options, including Justin North's Becasse on Level 5. The Level 5 foodcourt also covers pretty much every food type you could want from swanky hot dogs at the Snag Stand to dumplings at Din Tai Fung to awesome reuben sandwiches at Reuben & Moore. So yes, it's worth going for the food alone, but back to the shopping. Zara was the big draw card when it opened its doors back in June, but there are plenty of others on hand, from cheap and cheerful to ridiculously expensive and delighted (if you can afford it). So it pretty buch covers all the bases, so why go anywhere else? Well, it's indoors for one, so if it's a nice day you might want to venture outdoors to do your shopping, but then again, you might like the shade and air con. Think I might be nitpicking a little bit there. As malls go, it's pretty fantastic, although if you're coming from Dubai or Minnesota (2 slightly different places granted), don't expect aquariums or roller coasters, not sure there's enough room in the CBD for those sort of things, but do expect great shopping!

It's quite the thoroughfare where you can spend hours people watching and there are plenty of food vendors attached where u can grab some grub...sort of like going to the movies. High end stores and arcades are also part of the mall, and there is always some company flogging something like false eyelashes to get the ladies or ladyboys lining up. I line up for the free cups of tea or the free tastings of chocolate. A continual kaleidoscope of people, sounds and products.

The opening of the new Westfield definitely gave it an added shine, but there's no lack of other shops in the area, with a large Myer, Mid City and The Strand to choose from, plus all the others that inhabited the pedestrianised shopping strip. Come lunchtime, the area becomes a hub of activity as city-types make their way to the numerous food courts on offer. Although it never actually gets quiet, as tourists and local inhabit the area almost constantly, especially when the sun's out, but the refurbishment also meant the creation of a more pleasant area to hang out as opposed to the run down precinct that used to occupy the space. It seems to have character as well, hence why I now choose to come here if I need to go to Westfield for whatever reason, as opposed to the Bondi Junction one. It just feels much nicer! You'll also find the place occupied by street artists, which I'm generally not a fan of, but I can live with it.

If it was…read morea freestanding shopping centre in any other location, it just wouldn't be nearly as attractive. What you'll find inside is pretty much as you'd expect in any shopping centre of its size - newsagency, cafe, clothing shops, and a food court. I wouldn't call it rubbish, because once again, the jackpot location makes up for the uninteresting range of retailers inside. It connects Pyrmont and Haymarket, and to Sydney CBD via Pyrmont Bridge, and seriously, there are countless spots around for tourists and locals to visit, from IMAX theatre and Sydney Convention Centre to Cockle Bay Wharf and Sydney Aquarium all within walking distance. My favorite memory here is sitting on one of the stools by the porch off the food court on a rainy night looking out and around the harbour, with a chocolate mint ice cream cone in my hand.

I guess in comparison to the Westfield Center, Harbourside feels dated, but by itself it's more an entertainment center than your run of the mill mall. It has three levels with the lower level being the food court and exit onto Darling Harbour. There are a lot of restaurants and nightlife seems to be happening there. We were too tired to take in the scene at night so I can't comment on that, but I can say that by 7pm it was bustling. Darling Harbour if you don't know is the hub of tourist activity...for the nightlife scene. It's conveniently located by the water taxis and ferries that can take you quickly around the harbour and drop you off at Circular Quay for access to the Opera House and The Rocks. We were big fans of the Mandarin Spa. The lady there really worked a knot out on my back, although I was disappointed my girlfriend's masseuse had a cold. Word to the wise, if your job is to touch people it might not be sanitary for you to have a cough. That was very disappointing. I am glad the food there was able to make up for that. All in all, Darling Harbour is a nice hub for you to set up camp on a trip to Sydney. The Pyramont Bridge connects you with downtown and it's just a few minutes walk into the heart of Sydney.
