Nice mall area that connects a lot of shops where you don't need to be worried about cars--but you do need to be worried about bikes and people stopping to watch buskers!

I can always enjoy here. You see something interesting all the time such as street musicians, artist and so on. Not to mention, there are so many shops alongside the street including Zara, H&M and you can sit and enjoy free wifi, too.

Almost derelict and somewhat deserted; yet more of a construction site two years ago; it was sad to note that the mall just laid there looking like the walking dead while the new Westfield Sydney was under construction. No Christmas decorations even at Christmas time. Thankfully late last year (a couple of months before moving to Melbourne) the mall was alive, and the street entertainers were also back in vogue, and Westfield Sydney was a trendy hit in itself. Definitely entertainment in itself; and the "free hugs" parade come out in force; among camoflagued marketers trying to sell you one thing or another. Now the mall is friendly and more inviting. Great seats to sit down on as your heading towards King Street with the vibrant trees. An abundance of walking space (except under construction) and a convenient locale in the city centre. Also the decorations that come up for Christmas and for events such as the art and about give this local flavour more prominence, love and depth. A great social mecca and hang out spot to eat and go shopping. It is also good to note that there is a gym available here now as well. It is worth the wait.

Its major retailers are stores like Myer and Zara, with luxury brands like Gucci, Fendi, and Chanel. It is owned by the Centre Group, which was previously part of the Westfield Group, a multi-national based in Australia. The Westfield Group was split in 2014 into a Australia/New Zealand portion (Centre group which owns this mall) and the Westfield Corporation, which owns many shopping centers in Europe and the US, including many that I've been to (Westfield Old Orchard, Westfield Century City, Westfield Topanga, and Westfield Culver City). We spent a bit of time here while waiting for our reservation at the Sydney Tower, whose customer entrance is located in this mall.

Harbourside shopping centre's best point of attraction is the location - Darling Harbour! If it was…read morea freestanding shopping centre in any other location, it just wouldn't be nearly as attractive. What you'll find inside is pretty much as you'd expect in any shopping centre of its size - newsagency, cafe, clothing shops, and a food court. I wouldn't call it rubbish, because once again, the jackpot location makes up for the uninteresting range of retailers inside. It connects Pyrmont and Haymarket, and to Sydney CBD via Pyrmont Bridge, and seriously, there are countless spots around for tourists and locals to visit, from IMAX theatre and Sydney Convention Centre to Cockle Bay Wharf and Sydney Aquarium all within walking distance. My favorite memory here is sitting on one of the stools by the porch off the food court on a rainy night looking out and around the harbour, with a chocolate mint ice cream cone in my hand.

I guess in comparison to the Westfield Center, Harbourside feels dated, but by itself it's more an entertainment center than your run of the mill mall. It has three levels with the lower level being the food court and exit onto Darling Harbour. There are a lot of restaurants and nightlife seems to be happening there. We were too tired to take in the scene at night so I can't comment on that, but I can say that by 7pm it was bustling. Darling Harbour if you don't know is the hub of tourist activity...for the nightlife scene. It's conveniently located by the water taxis and ferries that can take you quickly around the harbour and drop you off at Circular Quay for access to the Opera House and The Rocks. We were big fans of the Mandarin Spa. The lady there really worked a knot out on my back, although I was disappointed my girlfriend's masseuse had a cold. Word to the wise, if your job is to touch people it might not be sanitary for you to have a cough. That was very disappointing. I am glad the food there was able to make up for that. All in all, Darling Harbour is a nice hub for you to set up camp on a trip to Sydney. The Pyramont Bridge connects you with downtown and it's just a few minutes walk into the heart of Sydney.
