Current product on sale at Big W Macquarie Centre. Giant stiff Darth Vader figures
Gary D.

My sons are into Big W and navigate themselves in and around the various consumer departments. Significantly can guide nana to her 'specialised' areas. According to B, my youngest Nana only visits the boring stuff. The great thing about a Big W is its 'Borg' like multiple manifestations across the country. As an experiment I sent J&B off on a Big W seek and destroy mission whilst visiting not one but two stores, the first in Newcastle NSW, and the second at Top Ryde in NSW. There are some spacial geometrical variables in the product landscape, however the boys managed with ease to locate what they wanted/needed at both stores within the standard Bog W 'Macquarie Centre' model. Big W is beautifully well lit by unobtrusive White lights, the aisles are wide with some narrowing during sales as the management place their bargain impulse purchasing bins along the middle of the wider arterial aisles. Clean floors, price checkers, a limited but nonetheless inexpensive book range and mostly from my experience friendly knowledgable staff. One gripe - parent rooms and toilets would be a great addition to customer service.

Being that it is a short walk from home and we shop there often and always have our needs met , I will be giving it 5 stars.

The stores here are ok but the Myers is the biggest waste of anyone's time. Painfully understocked

Be prepared to drive in circles. Parking here can be a little overwhelming if you are new to the…read moreshopping centre. If it isn't too hot go up to the sail covered parking area and there is normally a spot. The major feature of this shopping centre is IKEA. Yep love IKEA! I just don't like putting their furniture together...some people are made to solve puzzles, but not this little duck. ha There are a good range of other shops in the centre and there is plenty of wide isles and access for people needing assistance. The elevators are very large and there are ramps with a slight gradient. Target is the major department store and there is a large fruit/vegetable shop near a major supermarket. Bing Lee also features! Reading Theatres are surrounded by an excellent food court and a number of good varied restaurants. Several good coffee shops are throughout the centre with reasonable prices. The shopping centre is in walking distance to Rhodes Station. It is in walking distance to Meadowbank (half an hour) over the old historical train bridge, which is a lovely sight in itself.

I like Rhodes Shopping Centre because its not so big and generally not so busy…read more The big stores consist of IKEA, Reading cinemas, Phoenix Restaurant (Great Yum Cha) , Target and Coles and all these other little specialty stores. It only consists of 2 levels of retail space but I think its perfect. If you want Myer you can drive up to Top Ryde or there is always Westfields Parramatta if you want something bigger. Food court located on the end with the Cinemas or you can try some great sushi at Tomodachi.

Another shopping centre and another review of a shopping centre. I'm not really sure why I'm…read morewriting a review of a shopping centre. Maybe it is because it is one of those places where you can stroll through and I can then say that I have been there, and as such I can then write a review on it. Well, as far as shopping centres go, in particular Westfield shopping Centres, this one really isn't all that big. Still, they have everything that you would expect in a shopping centre, and a reasonable range of shops, as far as shopping centres go of course. Not surprisingly they are all big name brands as well.

This place was a big freaking deal when it first opened. One of the first Westfields. The very…read morefirst Westfield was in Blacktown, just west of here. The name Westfield is derived from "west" related to the West-Sydney location, and "field" due to having located on subdivided farmland. But this one in Burwood was close to follow, called Westfield Shoppingtown back then. Went back to check it out in November 2012, and it looked a little hokey and cramped. Things seem so big when you are small. Who would want to grocery shop here now? Seems a little bit like a relic, and the stores are kinda lame now. Wish I could give it more than two stars. Wikipedia says that Westfield Group currently has interests in total assets worth Aus$58 billion, owning 119 shopping malls in four countries - Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States - with over 10 million square meters of retail space. It is the world's largest retail property group. I've never heard this, but it seems to me they want to have the name Westfield synonymous with the term "mall", so they drop the word "mall" from the name of a shopping center they buy and refurbish. There are huge Westfields in Santa Ana near where I live, and Topanga Canyon in LA for example that had their name changed from "mall".
