Broadway is the closest shopping centre to the CBD with free parking. Enough said really! There are three hours free parking, and you can get that extended if you go to the movies. You can pretty much do the whole centre in 3 hours, and since it opened the top level a couple of years ago the fashion shopping options have increased. So you can actually have a fair bit of retail therapy. Within the complex there is a health centre, with GP's and specialists, as well as all the other services like hair, nails, post office, chemist... The food court is popular with uni students, and is generally pretty busy at all times. There is a sushi train/japanese restaurant within the food court if you are looking for something not served on a tray. Harvey Norman has recently opened new premises, which is one of the few larger items stores, along with Freedom, Kmart and Target. The Target is quite a good version of the chain, with nice presentation and good organisation and a large range of clothing. I am not sure why, maybe it has something to do with it being new? Or maybe there is a great store manager keeping everything in order. Entertainment includes the movies (hoyts) and a timezone type gaming place.

For a relatively small complex (I live near a Westfield, no comparison), Broadway Shopping Centre has a great range of higher-end as well as discount clothes stores, jewellery, a Reject Shop, K-Mart, Cineplex...basically everything you would need if you were caught in a Zombie Apocalypse and wanted somewhere to repopulate the earth in style... actually, to that end, King's Court "Massage" "Parlour" is right outside on Broadway but let's not go there. Or I'll reserve judgement til someone reviews it. Free from shady dealings to my knowledge, Broadway is open til a reasonable hour and the Food Court has a good range of cheap food and is clean, as are the bathrooms. Also a lot of shops here seem to be have permanent sales on, or maybe I'm just lucky- whichever it is I think of Boradway Shopping Centre as an unofficial outlet centre.

I'm truly a sucker for anything convenient. As long as I can find what I want quickly, at any time, and at a low price, I'm sold. Broadway Shopping Centre is the epicenter for convenience I've yet to see in the City. It has everything, from clothing stores to pharmacies, supermarkets to discount department stores. The Coles Supermarket is one of the largest around, and it's open 24 hours! So is K-Mart! I've stumbled into Coles a couple of times to pick up a midnight snack or ingredients to whip up a cake. There's also a Target (where I just bought new bed sheets for a bargain!). Clothing stores include famous brands like ESPRIT and French Connection, and a slew of other chains. You can find every cell phone provider within the mall. There are home décor stores, an Oxfam shop, and a Harvey Norman. At the top, there is a giant food court. The escalators are designed to grip the shopping carts so you can bounce from store to store with one trolley. Oh, yeah. On the topic of convenience, Broadway offers free three hour parking in their car park. Amazing. Buy everything you need for the week and just bring it to your car which is gratuitously stationed right outside the door! It's so refreshing to find a place like this, especially in Glebe.

I think I've spoilt - no I've definitely been spoilt, after spending so much time in places like Westfield (Bondi Junction/ City) shopping centres like Broadway seems so.... meh... The thing is its a nice shopping centre - has a lot of variety from grocery stores to food courts to clothing stores and other bits and pieces... I think maybe its the Mall Rats that turns me off...the kids skipping school or the ones with the freaky rat tails that are so unappealing... maybe it's the lighting, the bleak exteriors of just the feeling that nothings changed in here since the mid- nineties.... Practical yes - appealing... "meh"...

    Yay! MAC! Woo hoo!

What's replaced it now is the store Anaconda - which has everything you need to explore the world. I walked into Baby Bunting by mistake. Eeek ! Lots of mums with crying babies, strollers and chaos! Get me out of here. Other stores I have frequented are Harvey Norman, Freedom Furniture and JB Hi Fi. Feeling peckish? Try Dish Expresso on Level 1 /Shop11 for pastries, cakes , toasted wraps/sandwiches and the Breakfast Works Burger! It's my favourite (but not healthy) It is so tasty with egg, bacon, hash brown, cheese, tomato and a spicy relish served bursting at the seams in a toasted bun. Coffee is good and that's what counts! I'm sure you'll find something here to eat as there isn't any other outlets that offer this choice in the whole centre.

I think what most people in the Eastern Suburbs like is that this place is super convenient. They have all the major stores under one roof...it's got your Barbeque Galore, Deco-Rug, Freedom, Lightstyle and Harvey Norman.... in fact I think you could get everything you need for your home in this once store... Aesthetically its pretty ugly and I think you can get a little stir crazy if you spend too long i the centre, but for convenience it's pretty good.... Definitely worthy of a browse.
