The shops are divided onto two levels in the shape of a very gently sloped spiral. The whole complex is bathed in lots of light as the ceiling is glass, giving it a spacious and positive feel. The shops consist of all the usual suspects for your shopping needs, Woolies, newsagents, cafes, a butcher, a bakery (no candlestick maker), fishmongers, some clothes shops and a Chinese supermarket. One thing I noticed was the complete lack of mens clothing shops, in this Utopian Northbridge land apparently men aren't allowed to wear clothes. That, or it's so brazenly geared towards housewives that the idea of men doing the shopping is roughly equivalent to the idea that pigs may fly.

Gateway retail should definitely be a place you visit when you're in Sydney. It has pubs and cafes where you can relax have a beer or a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. If you need to relax some more, you can even get a massage! Gateway retail is a fun place to visit for the whole family or just you. It's also a perfect place to pick up a quick lunch.

This is the curative for my hatred of shopping centre cafes: with plenty of outdoor seating under broad umbrellas. There's a Cicco Cafe, Pattison's Patisserie and Simone Logue, as well as a Harris Farm, Hudson Meats, Chickens Plus and even a bookshop! And for parents it's too easy with a daycare and medical centre right upstairs. You may be perched right on the express way, but Stockland Cammeray is a very well designed spot.

It's easy to get in and out of this place and its been a nice addition to the suburb. There is a medical centre some offices and a daycare in this centre. It's quite busy day or night with shoppers and restaurant goers. I like the space here and its open and welcoming. Not bad for a suburban shopping centre.

There are grocery stores located in the bottom floor, along with beauty stores. There are also stand alone carts selling various knick knacks. It was worthwhile perusing them, and my brother ended up buying quite a few things.

There were a good variety of stores on each floor. There was a Fitness First gym and Kinokuniya bookstore up on floor 2. There was a nice food gallery with several different choices down in the lower ground level as well as an underground passage over to the Queen Victoria Building. This was a nice place to do a little window shopping, eat some food, or just to hang out with your friends.

The Stained Glass The visual message of Sydney's coat of arms on the cartwheel stained glass window, is that the beehive depicts business, the sailing ship - trade, and the dolphins - the harbor. Panel 1 (on the left-hand side) represents the Council of the City of Sydney and symbols of architecture, while the letters I.G.B., on panel 3 (on the right), represent Ipoh Gardens Berhad, the Malaysian company who restored the QVB in 2009. The symbols are of property developers - the builders. The bottom central panel represents the heraldic symbol of a finished building, and the joining of two hands denotes the fusing of two cultures.
