My two favorite things are the price and convenience - the pricing is perfect for the amazing service you receive and he travels directly to your house so you don't have to worry about any travel whatsoever. He teaches you at whatever pace you want and will honor special requests for specific songs you may want to learn. He makes sure that you fully understand concepts before moving on and does an incredible job of breaking down music theory concepts to an easily digestible form for a beginner. I would recommend his services to anyone looking to learn an instrument.

She balances high standards with an understanding of how to motivate and encourage regular playing. Sally is incredibly dedicated, kind, energetic, and talented. She is always flexible when our schedule changes and works with us to find a mutually convenient lesson time. We are so impressed with how much our son has grown and improved over the years. And he really enjoys his time with Sally each week. She even added in trumpet lessons to help him improve his trumpet playing. We highly recommend Sally for piano (or trumpet!) lessons.

I've been working with Sally for a little over 2 years and I've loved every lesson. Sally was easy to contact via cell (she still is very responsive via cell). She stopped by my house to first introduce herself and explain her teaching process. She was flexible and accommodating around my work schedule and agreed to provide lessons on an every other week basis. It's important to note that my prior way of learning the piano is different from how Sally has and continues to teach me how to play. I previously remember memorizing notes, cords, etc ("Every Good Boy Does Fine"). Sally goes above and beyond to explain the "why" behind piano instruction. I know that her emphasis on music theory versus rote learning plays a large part in why so many of her students are successful. Also different from my prior instructor, Sally encourages her students to learn to play pieces that best reflect their current level and interests versus completing each book to in order by completion. For example, Sally and I have worked on the adult level 1 and 2 books, but she's allowed me to dabble in supplemental pieces from other books (children's books levels 3, 4) and holiday pieces. She's very easy going and accommodating to her students' interests. Although COVID-19 has unfortunately affected many small businesses, I can honestly say that my lessons with Sally haven't missed a beat. She worked tremendously hard in buying herself personal equipment (microphone, headset speakers, iPad) to make sure her virtual lessons with her students were still effective and productive. Overall, Sally is knowledgeable, patient, outgoing, flexible, responsive, and extremely dedicated to her work. Did I mention her lessons are so much fun? She is an outstanding person and piano teacher and I cannot recommend her enough.

I'm a professional guitar player who was visiting Philadelphia from the west coast and decided to check out local music stores. The store was clean but beyond appearances this place was terrible. All the guitars I tried were dirty and out of tune; I told an employee that the truss rod needed to be adjusted on one and he didn't know what that was (a music store employee should know what that means). I couldn't hear myself try the guitar because the sole employee was signing and playing at the top of his lungs. I then asked him about how the teacher employment worked at their store and not only could he not answer, but he couldn't give me anyone's email or phone number to contact with questions. Very rude in general. Ive been in hundreds of music stores and this was among the worst

I have been playing stringed instruments for about 20+ years. I'm self taught and mediocre at best,…read morebut I love to play and find myself "stuck" some times and need some help pushing through challenges that I find. To resolve this, I take lessons from a local instructor for a few weeks. As I have said, I've been doing this for 20+ years. I have also lived in many different cities and states, so I have had a lot of different instructors. With all of that said, I have to say that Chet Makowski is my absolute favorite instructor. He got what I was doing and why. He he showed me that music theory is not as mysterious as so many instructors claim. After four Saturdays, I was able to go back to my band and have my improvement recognized by the other guys. I was able to stay better in key and improvise more smoothly. Chet understands that as an adult I have responsibilities and commitments and sometimes I just don't have time to practice. He doesn't judge, and doesn't admonish. Granted, with the style of classes we had together, there really weren't rigid practice assignments that could be defined. I would recommend Chet very highly. The school is just as comfortable and welcoming. It makes for a great learning environment.

Chet keeps the learning process fun, my son has learned the chords, theory, etc. that make a good guitarist, but unlike my music education, they would immediately apply the knowledge to a song, something current that he could relate too..This is so very different from going up and down scales and just playing meaningless chords, as was done "back in the day" and probably is still the norm in many places..All that info has stuck with my son and he (as are we) is delighted that he can actually play along with something that he may have on his portable player- from my observation, this technique seems to keep the boredom out of music school and keeps the interest and attention focused..and practicing is no longer dull! My son has also attended their summer music camp, which he really enjoyed!!. All I can say is that my son will be going to college next year, he will take his guitar with him, and he will probably enjoy playing for himself and others. Playing music is something one is able to do for most of their lifetime, it's a great outlet and balance from the day-to-day "stuff". It has had a really positive affect on our son!!!! We thank Chet profusely for this!! As far as I know, various strings, keyboards and drums are offered. There may be other types of instruments as well as voice, as well.. Obviously, we have only the highest recommendation for Harcum Music School!!!

EARLIER I ALREADY HIRED A MOVER TO TRANSFER IT TO MY PLACE IN CALIFORNIA DIRECTLY AND NEVER HIRED GALASSINI TO TAKE THE PIANO TO HIS FACTORY. It took about 3 weeks before the delivery was started, not knowing that Rich Galassini was replacing the original Renner action & was being replaced with a cheaper action. I found in google that the piano company was selling the Renner action was sold to another client. I was happy at first when I received my Estonia Concert Grand with Serial # 7476 in September 2016 even without the bench that was promised in the contract with Gary Dawkins. Later, I found out that the ORIGINAL ESTONIA PIANO RENNER ACTION BLUE POINT HAMMER WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH A CHEAP ACTION before delivery to my residence in El Dorado Hills, CA. I wrote a separate letter to the Estonia Factory to confirm the maker's original factory specification of the action. I had been on the lookout for my dream piano, a Steinway B, and thought it wasn't doable. Then a friend from NYC recommended I connect with Piotr in Philedelphia. Pin block ten years old, strings 10 years, and the rest fully restored by him, using genuine Steinway parts. Well, I said what if I don't connect with it? Your gonna take it back? He said yes, so I agreed. He drove here, set it up, I played it for hours, and then said I loved it. He took my K Kawai in trade, and there you have it. He fully guaranteed it his work.
